About The Owner

We have kids and love outdoor activities! Placid is the perfect place for us. We started running a few years ago and ran our first half marathon in Lake Placid last year. It was incredible!! The views were beautiful and the climb up the last hill to the Olympic oval for the final lap was well worth it.

The Owner purchased this house in 2009

Why The Owner chose Adirondacks

Lake Placid is a great place to vacation any time of year. Excellent winter sports and a great Olympic spirit, fun summer activities and great hiking all year round. Downtown Lake Placid has great shops, good restaurants, a movie theatre, night time ice skating, or a beach on Mirror Lake for swimming in the summer, fun bars and dancing. There are plenty of activities for kids and adults, you never run out of things to do!

What makes this house unique

Our house is on Mill Pond. You can walk into town or you can canoe or kayak to several nearby restaurant / bars. The kids can walk to the movie theatre in town, or a bowling alley close to the house. The pond is beautiful and peaceful. Lots of waterfowl, feed the ducks from the dock, do a little fishing with the kids or go out on the canoe or kayaks. The town has a beach on Mirror Lake and this is walking distance as well. In the winter go snowshoeing, skiing, sledding all nearby.

Comfortable, and Quite place

  • 4 of 5

I rented this house for Ironman Lake Placid weekend. First thing I look for is Location for T1, Comfort to rest and recover for race. This place is really impressed me, very very comfortable place, Since it is behind the main road, less noisy and quite place. House had all the facilities as described. Some of my friends were having fun with Kayak and SUP.

Reasonable price and I don't mind renting the same place if I am going again.

Hesitant to give good review in case I want to rent again.

  • 5 of 5

All aspects of this property matched or exceeded my expectations. If you want a convenient and reasonably secluded place for 6 people in Lake Placid on the water, this is best option for the price.

Private setting

  • 4 of 5

Home was clean and cozy! The walk down to the pond was over grown grass with just a small path that was mowed. The dock to the pond was not very well kept.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed the house! The front yard is landscaped and has plenty of room for badminton, croquet or horseshoes. It's true we leave the back yard natural - we get some beautiful wildflowers too, and the path down the to the lower deck and the dock is mowed. We had just refreshed the paint on the dock, but we did miss the walkway to the dock so will do some maintenance this weekend. Thanks for the note.

Wonderful rental

  • 5 of 5

We traveled with two other couples and stayed here for a long weekend. The house and location were both perfect. Very comfortable, and we loved kayaking along the pond out back. It was also close enough for a 10 minute walk to town and Mirror Lake. Great first experience at Lake Placid. I would definitely recommend!

Peaceful, yet convenient to town

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for a better location for our family visit to Lake Placid. The property is at the end of a private, dirt driveway, and we enjoyed peaceful, sound nights of sleep while we were there -- yet were easily able to walk into Lake Placid. Although the pond is not deep enough for swimming, our family loved taking out the kayaks and paddle boards, and looking for gigantic tadpoles. We also set up the badminton set. The house is spacious, clean, and comfortable. The fire pit was gone during our stay, but we kept so busy that I'm not sure when we would have fit it in! Would definitely stay here again.
