About The Owner

We have kids and love outdoor activities! Placid is the perfect place for us. We started running a few years ago and ran our first half marathon in Lake Placid last year. It was incredible!! The views were beautiful and the climb up the last hill to the Olympic oval for the final lap was well worth it.

The Owner purchased this house in 2009

Why The Owner chose Adirondacks

Lake Placid is a great place to vacation any time of year. Excellent winter sports and a great Olympic spirit, fun summer activities and great hiking all year round. Downtown Lake Placid has great shops, good restaurants, a movie theatre, night time ice skating, or a beach on Mirror Lake for swimming in the summer, fun bars and dancing. There are plenty of activities for kids and adults, you never run out of things to do!

What makes this house unique

Our house is on Mill Pond. You can walk into town or you can canoe or kayak to several nearby restaurant / bars. The kids can walk to the movie theatre in town, or a bowling alley close to the house. The pond is beautiful and peaceful. Lots of waterfowl, feed the ducks from the dock, do a little fishing with the kids or go out on the canoe or kayaks. The town has a beach on Mirror Lake and this is walking distance as well. In the winter go snowshoeing, skiing, sledding all nearby.

Great

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for a week in late June/early July and really enjoyed our stay. It was our first time in Lake Placid and the Adirondacks in general and the house proved to be a great base for exploring both the town and the area. Our three boys made frequent use of the provided kayaks and canoe out back and caught several fish within a couple of hundred feet of the dock. The house would comfortably fit a family of up to six people. Everything in the house was as described and in good, working order. We would rent here again. The only thing that would have been better is if we could have brought our dog (no pets allowed).

The home we rented was perfect. We brought our entire family up and the place was great. Very near everything we love to do in the area. The home was clean, warm, in a good area with nothing to worry about. We will look at this property over the summer also!

Great spot

  • 4 of 5

I loved the location and feel of this house. It was everything we wanted and more. Having the pond right there was a delight. Main St. was a short walk. I would have given 5 stars but for few reasons. The fridge was way too small, this should be replaced with a regular sized fridge. We brought food with us and did not have enough room to store everything. We did have to go get a couple coolers with ice. We stayed during a very humid hot spell and while most times in LP you don't need air, we needed something extra. The ceiling fans were not enough. There was one extra box fan but that was broken. We went and bought 4 box fans and that seemed to do the trick on the intolerable days. The purple bedroom has no bed frame and no where to really put clothes. The cabinet that's in that room is more of a towel closet. I think one 4 drawer dresser and metal bed frame would be perfect. The Internet was really only good if you are in the living room or kitchen. We think the metal roof blocks the signal in the bedroom area. Even with these minor issues, we loved staying here and will try to come back.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay! The rooms are furnished as pictured and we recommend an ice chest for extra drinks in the summer because the fridge is indeed a bit small. We added more box fans for the rare hot week in August, though the best way to cool off is to go for a kayak on the pond!

Good location and comfortable accommodation

  • 4 of 5

This property is located just minutes from main street in Lake Placid. It was a comfortable, quiet spot, overlooking Mill Pond, very picturesque. Very clean, which was a real positive, we have rented on occasion where that was not the case. Kitchen was well equipped. Nice open area, kitchen and living room. Owner very prompt in responding to emails. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

The house on the pond is near all Olympic sites, centrally located for all ADK excursions. The house itself is completely refurbished, very nicely done. The kayaks, sups and canoe were great for a daily paddle. The fire pit wasn't there, our only disappointment.

Comfortable, and Quite place

  • 4 of 5

I rented this house for Ironman Lake Placid weekend. First thing I look for is Location for T1, Comfort to rest and recover for race. This place is really impressed me, very very comfortable place, Since it is behind the main road, less noisy and quite place. House had all the facilities as described. Some of my friends were having fun with Kayak and SUP.

Reasonable price and I don't mind renting the same place if I am going again.
