Very relaxing vacation!!!!!

Awesome cottage!!!!

House was very clean and had everything we needed for stay. Loved the two golf carts, fire pit and BBQ grill. Just steps away from pool and the beach was not too crowded and easy access with golf carts. Most relaxing trip I have had to beach in a long time😃

One note: If you plan to hang out around pool or fire pit at night wear bugspray. The mosquitoes will carry you off!!!!!

Also nearest store that doesn't cost and arm and a leg is 14 miles away(Dollar General). Sassy Bass market is .5 mile away but their prices are sky high!!!!!!

Really hope we can stay here again next summer🌴😎😎🌴

It had everything we needed

  • 5 of 5

This was a stand alone house and it was clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need. All the towels and linens were there as promised. Two full bathrooms, so the kids shared one and we had our own off the master bedroom. We had two golf carts to use for going to the beach, which was not far at all. The pool was a salt water pool, not chlorine. There was a hot tub. The house had a grill, which the grates were a little rusty, we laid down foil. It was great to grill seafood when we wanted to. The Sassy Bass was a convenient grocery store just a half mile down the road. It took about 30 minutes on average to get to Gulf Shores...but I liked the relative seclusion. We used the washer/dryer a few times, so we were not packing clothes for the whole week.

We got hit with tropical storm Cindy while we were there, so we only swam in the Gulf once but it didn't really matter with a pool at our disposal.

It was in the 80-90's most days with 80% humidity and the house A/C held up great.

Fort Morgan and Bon Secour Park were within easy driving distance and I enjoyed both. We saw dolphins off the beach by Fort Morgan and watched a fisherman reel in a shark.

There were tv's and cable but we did not really watch too much. The kids played the xbox. There was a selection of board games as well.

Way better than a hotel and I would stay again.

Theresa gave me all the info I needed to find and get in the house.

Relaxing stay at beach cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a great vacation at the Rookery in Fort Morgan. We traveled with my parents and 4 children ranging in ages from 3-12.

The house was clean and very well appointed. We cooked most of our meals at home and the owner had everything we needed. They provided a nice selection of games and movies for rainy days.

The pool was only steps away and has a graduated beach entrance which is great for small children. They had it heated which made it possible for us to swim (even when the night temps dropped).

Two golf carts were provided for beach transport which was so helpful. We could have walked, but it was much easier to take the carts with the kids and older parents.

We enjoyed seeing the fort at Fort Morgan and also hiked in the nearby nature refuge. The outlet stores and restraunts of Orange Beach were about a 25 minute drive.

The only downside to the area is the bugs which were bothersome a few mornings and evenings on our trip. We brought bug spray (and the owner had also set some out) which helped.

My youngest's favorite part of the trip was playing in the front yard which is all sand (like a giant sandbox) under the palm trees. We would definitely return to this rental.

Relaxed and convenient

  • 5 of 5

The condo was in very nice condition. It was nice to be away from the busy downtown yet close enough to drive in anytime. The golf cart was great to get to the ocean. We will come back again for sure!

Peaceful getaway for relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This place was great! The house itself is fully stocked with anything you could need and more. Sits back off the main road so you don't hear the traffic. I would buy this place in a heartbeat! Having the golf cart to drive the short distance to the beach was very handy and accessible, plus fun to drive around. We watched tv when it rained and enjoyed the beaches or pool when it didn't. Quick drive from Gulf Shores proper, loved that it wasn't "touristy" and crowded out here. Driving to the house from Gulf Shores city felt like we were driving home, that's how cozy it is. I only have one recommendation to the owners: install an outside shower. We tried to get all the sand off that we could with the hose, but sand being what it is gets everywhere. We would definitely stay here again and again. The owners have taken care of everything you could want out of a cottage rental. I would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful place to vacation at the beach.

Thank you for a home away from home.

Love it!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at Shoot the Moon, which is perfect for our family of four. The accommodations are nice and the location is quiet. The cottage basically has everything you would need on your stay- a well furnished kitchen, washer/dryer, plenty of linens/pillows/towels and a golf cart for easy beach access. The cottage is also stocked with a variety of board games, DVDs and a video gaming system, which were great for keeping the boys entertained when it rained! The beach is about .30 miles from the condo and is absolutely beautiful. It is more or less a private area as the beach is never crowded. The property manager was responsive and provided us with the information on check-in in advance. My only complaints would be those that stayed prior to us did not leave the golf cart charged (as it says to in the checkout instructions) and the BBQ grill has seen better days (but there are several community grills onsite). Other than that it was perfect- I think we have made Gulf Shores and the Shoot the Moon Cottage a family tradition!

The cottage is located in the Fort Morgan area, which is a distance from Gulf Shores proper. We have been going to this area for many years and each year it seems like there is another new restaurant, a place to purchase grocery items, etc. So the area has more amenities than it used to. If you have been hesitant for this reason, I would recommended giving it another look! The area is so quiet and peaceful, much slower paced- which is perfect for a vacation.
