Overview

About the property

6 Bedrooms plus extra rooms, 5 full bathrooms, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 16

This new solar heated house with mountain view was designed for quiet, energy-efficient comfort in ski country. You arrive in a solar-heated two car garage from a level driveway off a level side road. You step into a tiled first floor heated by an in-floor hot water radiant heating system (solar and gas), which are supplemented by a wood-burning Delta 5 fireplace, which heats the entire house in minutes. The open floor plan includes a cathedral ceiling, family entertainment and dining area, a state of the art chef's kitchen with walk in pantry and a first floor guest suite with attached bath. A sweeping staircase leads to the bamboo-floored second level, with a landing/sitting area off of the four upstairs rooms. Two of the bedrooms share a bathroom with tub and shower. The hall bath has a steam enclosure. The large master suite has a generously sized bathroom, which includes a dry sauna; the hallway into the bedroom has two walkin closets.

The basement has a finished recreation area, a full bathroom, a bedroom, a laundry room and ski tuning/shop room. The house has a west and an east deck for sunny summer lounging in the morning and afternoon. The east deck adjacent to the kitchen/dining room double door has a propane-fired grill. Overall the house is very comfortable and would be perfect for a winter-long rental for a ski-racing family or for luxury weekend getaways for family of 16 or less person groups. A summer in Vermont would be fantastic, with many hiking, golfing, tennis (clay court available at adjacent property), fishing, biking and other outdoor options.

The hot tub is by the west side with views of the mountain.

The hot tb is outside by the deck with mountain views.

J & M, W. Family ski vacation

  • 5 of 5

This house is perfect for large families or group of friends. The rooms are large, the beds are comfortable and the hot tub was a hit with our family. The kitchen was spacious so it allowed for several cooks to be in the kitchen at the same time. We had 10 adults two toddlers and a 1year old and there was plenty of room for all of us without getting in each others way. The house is warm, no drafts, plenty of towels and blankets. The master bedroom is so spacious and bright, you won't want to leave it! The finished basement was comfortable and roomy. Needless to say our family truly enjoyed staying here. Thanks Tint!

Absolutely Wonderful Ski House!!!

  • 5 of 5

If you are traveling to the Killington area with a large group - do yourself a favor and rent this property. I just completed a three day weekend rental with a group of 16 and I cannot say enough great things about the property and the owners. Tint was a joy to communicate with, very informative and quick with responses to any questions that I had.

The layout of the home is great for a group as the kitchen, dining and living room are spacious and open. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to ensure privacy for all. The garage and mud room made the daily act of shedding ski clothes and gear very easy. The hot tub was very enjoyable and most importantly very clean.

I have stayed in many ski rentals before both large and small and this was hands down the best home I have experienced. Amazing trip - thanks again to Sheppard family for sharing their home!

Wonderful mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house was well maintained and beautiful. Plenty of space to eat, sleep and enjoy! The owner Tint was tremendous and answered all of our questions that we had. The kids loved the hot tub, as did the adults. Only recommendation would be for a pool table or maybe electronic darts game or shuffleboard in the basement, that was the only minor drawback. We will be looking to re-book for next years trip! 2 thumbs up!

Owner's Response: Thanks Joe, I always tried my best to have everyone enjoyed their stay at our house. Even though our house is a pretty big house, we don't have space for pool table, etc in the basement. What we have in our half basement, as you know, is the living room with television. As this is a big house with lots of people, we need to have a couple of living room with television, so there's enough space for everyone to sit and relax and watch television, or have a conversation with friends and family, especially after spending the day skiing. If we put in the pool table, which we have at our other 8 bedroom house, we have to move the televisions and sofa's out. For that reason, we are keeping it the way it is. But I'm glad you had a good time regardless that there's no pool table at this house.

Fantastic Ski House - Highly Recommended

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this house. We took an early season ski trip up there with about 13 people and there was more than enough room for everyone (even some empty beds). The kitchen was great, we had 6 people working on cooking a meal in there at once and it never felt overcrowded. The jacuzzi was by far the biggest one of any VT house we've rented (and we've rented 5+ over the years)...it's much bigger than the pictures show. The only thing we'd suggest to improve this house, if any, is maybe the addition of a pool/ping pong/foosball table in the basement. There is a ton of room down there but it wasn't widely used as the big TV is upstairs in the room with the fireplace. Although, if we had kids we'd probably love it without that because it's ideal space to send them down to play. Everything was wonderful and we're definitely bookmarking this house as a future rental.

PS - You won't believe how many bathrooms there are. This has always been a slight issue in the past when people come home from skiing and want to shower; with this house it was IMPOSSIBLE to run into this issue!

Thank you Tint for being a gracious host and I hope we can rent your home again in the future!!

Owner's Response: A year late to thank you for your nice review of our house. Sorry, I am busy always with rental houses and triplets in college, so I hardly ever looked at the reviews. Thank you again for staying at our house. Tint

A Hidden Gem and so are its Owners

  • 5 of 5

Do not hesitate renting this house. Tint is a pleasure to deal with. The house is beautiful, offers great views of the scenery and basic simple linen is included. The house is immaculate and well taken care of. The home was very clean, well kept and looked exactly like the pictures in the website. We absolutely loved the heated floor and the appliances.

We had about 10-12 people and the house was more than enough room for us over the weekend. My family, friends and I had a great experience staying in this beautiful ski house. We were there for snowboarding in Killington over the weekend. The house is as good as described. The dry and steam sauna was awesome. We loved it. The house was tastefully decorated, cozy and inviting. There is a lot of space in the house. The house also have a finished basement which would have accommodate additional people. If there were to be a pool/ hockey or even a foosball table would definitely be a plus in the basement.

There were even boxes of Kleenex tissues everywhere provided by the owner which was a plus. It was very thoughtful and made us literally feel like home away from home. Thank you Tint and Ralph.

Overall, I would definitely recommend renting this house. This place is truly a hidden gem and so are its owners. We would definitely come back again.

Incredible Ski House

We stayed at the Shephard house last weekend. House is pretty much brand new with everything you could possibly need. Fit our group of 13 perfectly. Tons of room and really nice finishes. Can't wait to come back next year. Thanks Tint.
