My family enjoyed our second stay at this property. Everything was still very clean and well maintained. All the beds seemed to be upgraded from our last stay and that much more comfortable.
A charming, uniquely decorated, and most accommodating and relaxful cottage set in the historic district of St. Marys. The photos on this site do not do it justice. Easy access by foot and/or bike to the Welcome Center and riverfront where one can find delicious seafood, a general store serving many flavors of ice cream, many small shops, and a well-maintained riverfront park to sit in swings and enjoy the river scenery. Three vintage bicycles offer more opportunities for touring and exercising. Would recommend, upon first arriving, the golf cart tour of the historic district obtained through the Welcome Center just two blocks from the cottage. It offers an excellent commentary on the history of St. Marys and the surrounding area. St. Marys Seafood Restaurant on Osborne (Hwy 40 in town) and nearby Kingsland's Ship 2 Shore Restaurant, also on Hwy 40, are both recommended for scrumptious seafood at a reasonable price. Amelia Island Cruise from Brett's Restaurant at nearby Fernandina Beach, FL, provides an entertaining and informative water tour along the shorelines of Amelia Island and Cumberland Island which one will not want to miss. A nice day's visit to Okefenoke Swamp State Park provides varied educational experiences (including seeing live alligators!) for children and adults alike via a swamp cruise and a train ride and a museum docent. After three full days of enjoyable activities, this cottage was a welcomed reprieve for settling into restful evenings, just like home. One will leave St. Marys, after staying in this sweet cottage, feeling as though he/she is leaving one's own home.
We were pleasantly suppressed to find the cottage bigger than the pictures portray . It was perfectly prepared for us with lots of nice little extras. Our family of four felt right at home. The unique decor added to the charm and it was very clean. The cottage is perfectly located on a quiet, secluded lane with water views. We enjoyed touring the village on the bikes and by foot. We enjoyed our day on Cumberland Island, we recommend booking early on the land and legions tour to explore the island in a van . We booked late and had to tour on bikes. This limits what you can experience in a day.
We enjoyed breakfast at The Blue Goose , and seafood at St Mary's Seafood and Lang's Seafood
A trip to Kingsland lead us to a Restaurant called Salt Pepper Thyme.... Delicious !
We will certainly return and recommend this Cottage and City to our friends.
Thank you for the wonderful stay! My family and I had a great time in St. Mary's for our long weekend getaway. Your home was very clean and had everything we needed to make our vacation comfortable. The amenities of the new home paired with the one of a kind furniture and décor were a great combination to accent the southern charm of St. Mary's. The manager's touches with the 4th of July decorations on the porch and inside the house for the holiday weekend made us feel welcome and it was apparent that the home was well taken care of. We had a great weekend enjoying St. Mary's, Cumberland Island, and Harriet's Bluff Organic Blueberry Farm. This was just the getaway we needed.
This was the perfect place to get away for a quiet weekend. Just a couple blocks from historic Saint Mary's and the Cumberland Island ferry. This rental includes many personal touches for a great price. When we arrived there were fresh flowers in each room and a fruit basket/chocolate. The vintage bikes are a nice addition. Overall we had a great relaxing weekend close to good fishing, kayaking, and a reasonable car ride to nice beaches.
