My wife and I are both experienced snow and water ski instructors. We are also avid boaters. We own businesses in the Albany area and enjoy spending time at the house with our three kids. We ski in the winter and spend the summers on the area lakes boating and waterskiing.
Craig Fluty purchased this house in 2010
We chose this vacation spot because there are so many things to do in very close proximity to the house.
This property is very scalable and can accommodate a small family or medium size group (ask about accommodations for 14 additional people). It is great for winter and summer. We have a lot of contacts in the area and can help you coordinate food services water or snow ski lessons, boat rides on any of the area lakes. Just let us know what you like and we can help you put it together. Additional Information can be found on the Caroga Lake Town Website:
Paul and his family were great guests. They communicated quickly, enjoyed their stay, and took great care of the cabin. Thank you and we hope you will return for some skiing this winter!!
Had a great time at the cabin. Craig was easy to work with to make the last minute arrangements, even though we had a slight hiccup with Paypal, and very responsive with communication. Cabin was very comfortable, had everything we needed, plenty of space, and in a great location. This time of year, of course, we weren't skiing but we did use the cabin as our base of operations to do some hiking and get in some much needed relaxation. Thumbs up!
This cabin was so nice, my husband and I enjoyed such a nice peaceful weekend together. It was nice to be able to take our dog she loved the outdoors and walking the trails. The owner was very accommodating. Everything was very clean and stocked. I loved the jukebox. We will definitely be back! !
My children and I just sent a week in this lovely ski chalet. We chose this location specifically for its proximity to Royal Mountain which is known for being family friendly and a great place for children to learn to ski. This was our children's first ski experience and we could not have been more pleased with the mountain and our accommodations.
The house is located within walking distance of the lodge and the lifts. I drove the kids up to the lodge in the morning and they were able to walk back on their own for lunch and at the end of the day. If you are using your own equipment (we rented) you can literally ski back into your living room!! The house was warm and cozy with an excellent central heating system as well as a wood stove in the living room. After-ski evenings were spent watching movies on the sofa munching on fresh popcorn from the old-fashioned popcorn machine and drinking hot cocoa.
The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and there is a major grocery store just about 20 minutes away so it was easy to stock up for our stay. The master bedroom is small but comfortable with a queen sized bed and plenty of warm covers and a closet to keep everything organized and out of the way. The second bedroom has custom-made bunk beds and sleeps 3, which was perfect for our kids. There is also a mudroom with laundry facilities which kept snow and mud out of the house and allowed us to get all of the kids' gear warm and dry for the next day.
Royal Mountain is only open on weekends and during school holidays but during the week, you could easily use this home as a base of operations for day trips to West Mountain, Gore or even Whiteface which are all open daily. For us, Royal was the perfect place to get my kids up and skiing for the first time. There is a great "bunny slope" for lessons and practice and plenty of gentle terrain on the main mountain to keep them happy. The mountain has runs for all levels of skier from beginner to expert so more advanced skiers will certainly not be bored. There is a nice lodge with a snack bar and a separate bar for the grown ups. My kids took advantage of the beginners' ski program. The equipment they were fitted with was really good quality and well maintained. After a few hours of instruction, they were up and able to navigate the main mountain and lifts all on their own! I could easily see coming up here every weekend if we lived in the Albany area. Highly recommended!
This was our third annual visit to this property. The property owners are great people and have added updates to the property each year. Our kids really enjoyed the many activities available here. Will return again.
Cozy cabin with a mountain in the backyard! We had an absolutely delightful stay at this very comfortable cabin in the Adirondacks. Our dog loved going for walks up the mountain that is right behind the house.
The owner was exceptionally thoughtful and the best I have ever dealt with. He even put wood in the fireplace for us and popcorn in the popcorn maker! We would definitely come back.
My wife and I were looking for a place to unplug from the world, and this was it. A great little cabin with jukebox, log fire heater, and great memories. The property owner is extremely kind and friendly, always willing to be a guide - he even gave us a tour of the nearby mountain. My wife and I also hiked up 3 other nearby mountains and visited various lakes. The local restaurants are great, and there's a small town only 15 mins away if we needed anything in particular. This was what we needed as our last great memory in NY before we moved. I definetly recommend this vacation spot, no matter what time of year.
Several lakes within 5 min drive. My Pontoon boat is available for rent at the Caroga Lake Marina for half day ($100) or full day ($200), and my kayaks for $25 each per day. Winery for tastings about 45min away near Saratoga. There are ponds for fishing and swimming on the property and on the mountain.
