The property comes with a private pool and a large patio area that is ideal for entertaining and relaxing. When you enter the house you will immediately enjoy the open design with a great room, a large dining room and sitting area. Our great room has a complete entertainment system with an HDTV and Home Theater Audio System. The house is beautifully decorated with art from local artists. The kitchen is set up for the gourmet cook and is furnished with the most up to date appliances. Our home is tastefully furnished and has everything you need to make your trip memorable. We provide all linens and towels. There is wireless high-speed internet access (bring your laptops and Smart Phones). The property is gated so it is very private. We always feel like we are on a plantation when we stay in our home.

The home has 2 bedrooms with queen beds, a den with a Murphy bed. There are 2 full baths and a private lava built outdoor shower. There is a sunroom/lanai that is perfect for dining and just plain hanging out with your friends and family. We do not use catchment water. Our home is located just a short walk from the ocean, where you can hike along the cliffs and trails. The Plantation House location makes a great home base for short trips to Volcano National Park, Hamakua Coast, Akaka Falls, Kahuna Falls, Umauma Falls, Farmers’ Markets and a nearby Black Sand Beach.

There is a welcome manual in the house that shows hikes, restaurants, snorkeling beaches, the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens and much more.

There is no better place for a tropical escape - skip the hotel!

  • 5 of 5

When I booked this home I knew it would be awesome, based on the images and my communications with the property owner. But when I arrived at the house I was blown away by its beauty. We were there for our honeymoon and were so happy with our choice, it absolutely made the vacation a paradise. We slept in late and came home early just to take advantage of the wonderful space. The grounds were a perfect example of tropical landscaping, and the pool with mini waterfall were beautiful to look at, be around, and listen to. At night we turned off all the lights, sat by the pool, and listened to the chirping frogs as we stared at the stars. And the bird songs, both day and night, were so pretty, too!

Inside the home was immaculate, breezy, pretty, and fully stocked. I had a couple of questions for the home owner by email, and she got back to me quickly, thoroughly, and with a few extra tips about where to forage for fresh fruit!

This location is perfectly placed between Volcano and north of Hilo, so you can visit black sand beaches, tidepools, lava flow, ice shave downtown, waterfalls, and botanical gardens easily. Quick trip to and from Hilo airport. You must have a car for this island, and the home is down a long road with no lighting. Which is actually wonderful as it's a bit remote while still being close to attractions. Great privacy!

We were able to take a trip up to Mauna Kea summit - rented a 4x4 for the day from Harper (great customer service) and checked the summit's road conditions each day (as it was closed a few days during our visit), so we played in the snow for a bit then got back down to sea level for tropical drinks in Pahoa! Kaleo's is the best dining on the Hilo side, I'm pretty sure.

But back to the house! Do yourself a favor and book this home before considering a hotel. You'll pay the same price, if not less, and have beautiful grounds, wonderful sounds of paradise, and a crystal sparkling pool with waterfall.

I made a quick video of the grounds in front of the house: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSqloX3gcP0

Doesn't do it justice, but it's something :) Mahalo to Deb for sharing her wonderful home!

Hilo pool of relaxation

  • 4 of 5

I went to the big island for 17 nights. My family of 5 were well accommodated in this 3 bedroom home. The pool was the highlight for endless hours hanging out at the pool. We traveled around daily and loved returning to this property each night where we bbq and did night swimming.

If your an explorer, head to the volcano first thing, amazing! And the New York pizza in Pahoa Village😘򖀠We shopped for groceries at the Malama Market! We truly loved exploring the Big Island👍𣐠The house had everything a family needs👍𣐽򓨎

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

This property is in immaculate condition, very private, peaceful, well located, and beautiful. We could not have been happier with our stay on the "Hilo side".

We rented the Plantation and the Bungalow and would do it again anytime we visit the Big Island. Deb was very helpful and responsive, with a complete list

of things to do, sites to see, shopping, etc. Fantastic!

A Piece of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Aloha: We booked this home from the pictures and the reviews online and we were absolutely stunned by the beauty of it in person. Beautifully decorated, spotless, and the best equipped rental we have ever stayed in. Deb, Toni, and her crew are there to make your holiday run smoothly and worry free. We were about 7 weeks in the home and enjoyed everyday. We were already familiar with the area, and the beautiful island of Hawaii, but having this as our home base was heaven. I have never heard the word "WoW" used so much as friends and family arrived for dinner or an afternoon by the pool. We highly recommend this property for a few days or a few weeks. Janet and Terry

Fantastic Property!!

  • 5 of 5

This was an absolute gem of a find. Exactly what we were looking for. The description and details about this property are spot on. We really enjoyed our stay here and will gladly book again when on the island.

The house is huge, perfect for lounging a day away or coming back to after a day trip. Very convenient to Hilo airport and the drives around the island are spectacular.

Debra was great to work with and was very responsive to any questions we had and gave wonderful advice on how to enjoy the island.

Book now! You will be very happy you did.

Beautiful Home & Property

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I and our 2 boys (11 & 14) stayed here for 3 nights. It was a beautiful, large home and property, and we loved the private pool! The home was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed and more. It is about a 30 minute drive to the volcano, waterfalls around Hilo and the tide pools. We had a nice dinner in nearby Pahoa. The home is in a rural neighborhood and secluded.

Unfortunately, it was in the mid to upper 80's during our stay, and with no air conditioning, it got very hot. The temperatures didn't cool off much at night either. I would have liked to spend more time relaxing at the home, but we felt like we needed to be somewhere cooler during the day. And as soon as it gets dark, there are the frogs. I understand this is an invasive species that is very hard to get rid of. However, they are very loud, especially when you have to sleep with the windows open to cool down the house. My husband and 1 son did just fine. Myself and other son are light sleepers and had a difficult time sleeping.
