About Curtis Dupree

My wife and I visited friends on Chilhowee mountain 20 years ago and in 1998, we purchased our Little Get Away. Bitsy and I have raised 4 children and we vacationed at our cabin multiple times a year. We love our Tennessee Cabin and our kids have many fond memories of hiking, cycling, fishing, swimming, tubing, roasting marshmallows around the campfire while playing guitars and singing, or just sitting on the porch sipping a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate and enjoying the spectacular view. Our kids are now grown and raising families of there own, but they still love to spend time at the cabin. Bitsy and I would now like to offer others the ability to spend time with there families or spouses building wonderful memories as we have. The cabin sits on 5 attached acres. We own approximately 20 acres around our cabin. You can walk or drive 1 mile to Look Rock Tower and enjoy the view of the Great Smokey Mountains (550,000 acres) or look to the west and see the cities of Maryville and Knoxville. We love our mountain!

Why Curtis Dupree chose Tennessee

This cabin is secluded, right off the Foothills Parkway, but close enough that with a minimal drive you can visit Cades Cove a pioneer settlement from the 1800's, or shop at the quaint shops in Townsend, or spend a day at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, or spend a day seeing the sites in Gatlinburg. White Water Rafting is also close by in the pigeon river or tubing in the little Tennessee River is right in Townsend.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The cabin was beautiful, comfortable and stocked with everything we needed. I really enjoyed our stay there. We plan on coming back in the near future.

Wonderful Rental, Even Better People

  • 5 of 5

We drove our 8 month old baby here from Florida, and when we got 4 miles out, our transmission blew, leaving us stuck on the side of a mountain road with a tired, hungry baby waiting for a tow truck. We couldn't get in touch with any rental car companies because they were all closed on the weekend, but we were able to call Bitsy and she was so incredibly helpful! Our intention was to just ask her if she knew who in the area we could call for help, but she personally called around and sent one of her friends to pick us up and drive us to the cabin so we could put the baby to sleep. Then, since we didn't have a car to go get groceries, she called us for a list of things we would need and had her friend's daughter bring us food. Bitsy truly went above and beyond to make our vacation wonderful! On top of that, the house was so cute and very clean. The view is beautiful and its in such a great location. It feels very secluded but is less than 30 minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, malls, and more. Its also only around an hour from Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Cades Cove. We highly recommend staying here!

Perfect cabin in the woods!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin 6/17 for a week. We truly enjoyed our time there. Felt like home, comfortable and cozy. Our dogs loved the property, plenty of space. We love the area so much, we were looking for employment and a place to live. This cabin was perfect to come back to after a long day of interviews and house hunting.

We did find jobs, got engaged (On the Foothills Parkway) and bought a new home. All in 3 days!!!There was something special about that cabin. Everything we were looking for on our mission to move... Happened!!! Every time we got back to the cabin, something fell into place for our move! We felt like someone was looking over us. Maybe it was being a bit closer heaven ... Maybe it was just luck.

The owners are truly wonderful and caring people. They made sure that everything was perfect. If we needed anything, they were there to help.

If you are looking for a place to get away from the hussle and craziness, this is the perfect place. So peaceful and quiet. Wildlife is all around the place as it is in the woods.

Please look at this cabin if you want to escape the crowds and reconnect with yourself, family or nature.

Even though we are moving to area, we have already discussed staying here for another vacation. It's that peaceful and calming of a place.

Thanks for everything!!!

Excellent cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is awesome, felt just like home. Everything you could ask for was provided. The views from the deck is fantastic and 5 minutes from the cabin you are on the Foothills parkway...south to the "Tail of the dragon" and the Cherohala pkwy, north to the Smoky Mountain National Park! Could not ask for a better location or a nicer cabin. Also had a large black bear mosey right past us as we sat on the deck! Perfect!

A treasure in the Foothills

  • 5 of 5

We had a month long stay here visiting our grandchildren living only 6 miles from this cabin. We were so fortunate to find this gem. It is definitely a plus for me, reminded me of Africa. There is something so special about entering your own private world, high up in the mountains where you are literally getting unplugged

My wife had phone conversations with the owners and they bonded like they knew each other for years. If there is anything they haven’t thought of to accommodate their guests, I don’t know what it is! I loved the cozy rolled up blankets (in the basket) in the living room and used it every time I was curled up on the couch watching TV. Thank you to Ray the handyman /caretaker that stopped by on the second day paying a courtesy visit to let us know he was readily available (if we experienced any problems.)

The views of the Smokies were gorgeous and I enjoyed going for walks in the morning on Flats road. I would recommend this cabin to everyone. The cabin was exactly as described, beautifully decorated, spacious, and spotlessly clean. The view every morning was breathtaking, it's worth waking up early to watch the sunrise and feel the gratitude. Looking at the wooden plaque with the inscription ….”When the moon comes over the Mountain” makes me want to return to experience the mystery…..

Amazing vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved staying at the Dupree cabin. The Dupree's have thought of every little detail to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The cabin is decorated so absolutely adorable and the property is beautiful, the cabin is beautifully maintained and very clean. We have already relayed information to relatives who live in South Carolina. We would definitely stay at this cabin again. Should you choose this cabin for your vacation you will be very happy. Thank you Dupree's for a fantastic home away from home.

Perfect place alone in the woods with Internet.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the Dupree cabin. You really are alone in the woods. They have thought of everything for guests and are very responsive. Great beds! The cabin is out of the hustle a ways but the drive is spectacular. There are great restaurants in Townsend and a few local stores. Next to Heaven unguided horse tours and zip lining was family run and great. The basement is its own little apartment and there is a fun rope swing for the kids. The front porch and wildlife were awesome. Thank you for sharing your obviously well loved cabin with us! We will make this a regular when we head to the Smokies.
