My wife and I visited friends on Chilhowee mountain 20 years ago and in 1998, we purchased our Little Get Away. Bitsy and I have raised 4 children and we vacationed at our cabin multiple times a year. We love our Tennessee Cabin and our kids have many fond memories of hiking, cycling, fishing, swimming, tubing, roasting marshmallows around the campfire while playing guitars and singing, or just sitting on the porch sipping a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate and enjoying the spectacular view. Our kids are now grown and raising families of there own, but they still love to spend time at the cabin. Bitsy and I would now like to offer others the ability to spend time with there families or spouses building wonderful memories as we have. The cabin sits on 5 attached acres. We own approximately 20 acres around our cabin. You can walk or drive 1 mile to Look Rock Tower and enjoy the view of the Great Smokey Mountains (550,000 acres) or look to the west and see the cities of Maryville and Knoxville. We love our mountain!
Curtis Dupree purchased this cabin in 1998
This cabin is secluded, right off the Foothills Parkway, but close enough that with a minimal drive you can visit Cades Cove a pioneer settlement from the 1800's, or shop at the quaint shops in Townsend, or spend a day at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, or spend a day seeing the sites in Gatlinburg. White Water Rafting is also close by in the pigeon river or tubing in the little Tennessee River is right in Townsend.
The cabin was beautiful, comfortable and stocked with everything we needed. I really enjoyed our stay there. We plan on coming back in the near future.
We absolutely loved staying at the Dupree cabin. The Dupree's have thought of every little detail to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The cabin is decorated so absolutely adorable and the property is beautiful, the cabin is beautifully maintained and very clean. We have already relayed information to relatives who live in South Carolina. We would definitely stay at this cabin again. Should you choose this cabin for your vacation you will be very happy. Thank you Dupree's for a fantastic home away from home.
We had a great time at the Dupree cabin. You really are alone in the woods. They have thought of everything for guests and are very responsive. Great beds! The cabin is out of the hustle a ways but the drive is spectacular. There are great restaurants in Townsend and a few local stores. Next to Heaven unguided horse tours and zip lining was family run and great. The basement is its own little apartment and there is a fun rope swing for the kids. The front porch and wildlife were awesome. Thank you for sharing your obviously well loved cabin with us! We will make this a regular when we head to the Smokies.
What an amazing time we had at Dupree Cabin! We booked this secluded, peaceful, clean and well maintained cabin at the last minute and were treated like family. My husband and I stayed one week and never wanted for anything. The fully stocked kitchen even had a crock pot and a Keurig. Sitting in the big rocking chairs on the covered porch looking at the beautiful mountains, was the perfect beginning to each morning and the most peaceful ending to each evening. The cabin had books, games, maps and a dart board. More than enough to keep the fun going. Just felt like home. We are already planning our next stay! Thank you Bitsy for sharing your lovely cabin....... did I mention seeing wild turkeys and a black bear on the property? Super exciting!! Highly recommend!!!
We loved our stay at Curtis and Bitsy's cabin! It had EVERYTHING we needed in the way of linens, kitchen accessories and laundry supplies. And then there were the swing, the campfire, and the puzzle books! The place was very clean and well-maintained, and the hosts were helpful and responsive. It was wonderful to sip coffee on the porch rocking chairs, enjoying the long, cool mornings even in the heat of summer. The cabin was quiet and secluded, yet close to Townsend and the National Park, Marysville, and more. Look Rock Tower is very near the cabin and has a wonderful (almost 360 degree) view, especially at sunrise or sunset.
My husband and I spent a week at this lovely cabin and enjoyed every minute. We always seek to stay where we can be away from crowds, and we were thrilled to experience the privacy here. Betsy and Curtis have been most generous in providing comfort and beauty to renters. I cooked every night in the well-appointed kitchen. One morning I woke up early enough to see a mother turkey lead her four babies around the yard for breakfast! We loved watching the changing view of the mountains from the porch. The road to the cabin was just resurfaced and excellent. Thank you for making this wonderful place available!
It took many hours of searching VRBO listings to find a simple cabin in the woods, away from the crowds, with only nature as a neighbor. Oh, and with Internet access.
The Dupree Cabin (as a sign on the porch declares) fit the bill. With a wonderful view of the mountains, this cozy getaway was perfect for our Spring Break trip.
Thank you, Curtis and Bitsy, for sharing your secluded hideaway.
