About the property

Sleeps 8, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom with deck, BBQ, jacuzzi tub, ample dining space

This magical retreat with exceptional "cabin in the woods" interiors

is nestled on 2.5 acres. It is an architectural saltbox

in the heart of the Adirondacks only 7 miles from Whiteface Mountain

and 15 miles from Lake Placid. Within walking distance are

picturesque hiking and cross country ski trails. It is truly a retreat

for the body and soul!

Surrounded by your own private forest, this warmly furnished home, with Adirondack touches throughout, has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a great living area, ample dining table space for 8, and large island kitchen will make your family and friends feel welcome. Flick on the gas fireplace and enjoy your own music mixes through the built-in surround sound system. Take the chill off after a day of activities in the steam shower or the jacuzzi for two. The chef's kitchen has all the tools needed to make any meal just like home. When the weather is right, enjoy the fire pit area or just sit out on the deck.

This home has two queen size beds, two daybeds with trundles and a pull out sofa. There are multiple TVs with satellite and DVD players, Wi-Fi, fully equipped kitchen including convection oven and wine cooler, BBQ grill, iron and board, linens, towels and washer/dryer.

Located one mile from the house is Lake Eaton, where you can canoe or hike around the lake, perfect for children. The community of Ausable Acres has a tennis court and slightly more ambitious trails; a trail map is in the kitchen. The house is minutes from Ausable Forks where there is a movie theatre, great pizza place, wine store and supermarket. In Wilmington, about a 10 minute car ride, there is a river front beach with volleyball court and picnic area. You can also enjoy the summer concert series in the heart of Jay just down the road from the house. A bit further is the wonder of Lake Placid, about a 20 minute car ride, where you can browse the outlet stores and artisan shops and enjoy lake view delights and dining on Main Street. For a nice day trip, downtown Montreal is about a two hour car ride away.

Other nearby activities in the winter are world class skiing at Whiteface Mountain, bobsled and tubing at the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Center, or ice skating and dog sleigh riding in Lake Placid. In the summer, hiking trails abound as well as fishing holes, golf courses, and boating in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, or Lake Champlain.

Wonderful Holiday Vacation.

This was a great place to spend Christmas. My boys and husband went to white face mountain three of the days including Christmas. It snowed most days just enough to keep it magical. The property was perfect on 2 plus acres. Loved, loved, loved the kitchen since I love to cook. It had every amenity. We enjoyed the steam shower and Jacuzzi tub. It was great to be able to bring our 13 yo dog with us as well. I would love to go back this summer.. The owner was great about answering my concerns. The only thing I might change is some sort of privacy curtain on the downstairs bedroom.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments Julia! I'm so glad you liked the kitchen- we think it's pretty fantastic too! While we feel the house is sufficiently recessed off the street for privacy, I can see this issue arising during the warmer months and perhaps with multiple friends staying together. We'll certainly address it. Hope to welcome you back this summer! Whiteface Mountain has a lot to offer and there are beautiful trails nearby!

Perfect!

The property was just what we were looking for for our busy family of 7! The house is situated in a picturesque area of the Adirondacks where you can enjoy your privacy, but just minutes away from action if you'd like both. The house was well cared for and very comfortable. This is definitely a rental I'd recommend to others and re-visit in the future!

The pictures of the property were accurate. The House was beautifully decorated .The property came with everything you could possibly think you would need and then some. It was reasonably priced and we look forward to returning for another stay. The owner was easy to contact and very helpful. I highly recommend this house as a place to stay we had a wonderful time.

We had a wonderful time in this house. Everything you need; space, well equiped kitchen, jacuzzi, games. The decor was amazing and overall one of the nicest cabin I've ever seen.

Very disappointing

  • 1 of 5

All of the previous glowing reviews surprise us greatly. This house was not clean upon our arrival. Dirty linen stacked up on the washer/dryer greeted us as we first entered the house (after a 6+ hour drive with a toddler!). The beds were not made. Trash cans had not been emptied. A smoke alarm was beeping and obviously not working properly. We had received an email the day before saying the house was ready for our arrival. We spoke with the realtor and she tried to get in touch with the caretaker but was unable to. So, at 5:00 on a Friday night after a long drive, we were forced to find other arrangements for our stay.

Owner's Response: Learning the house was not in order upon your check in and unable to remedy the situation in a more timely manner is inexcusable. My goal is to provide each renter the same care and attention of a clean and safe environment for a seamless and enjoyable stay. I regret the house was not prepared for you and your family's arrival and that I could not provide the welcome you should have received and had anticipated after a long journey. The smoke alarm unit has been replaced and is in working order. Communication with caretakers and upkeep will continue to improve.
