Kathleen & I live and work in Charlotte NC but enjoy the piece & quiet the Owls Nest has to offer. I was raised in eastern Kentucky and have always been drawn to the mountains. We were fortunate to find this property and enjoy taking family & friends when the opportunity arises. I don't think anyone can find a more relaxing rental in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Glenn Creech purchased this cabin in 2007
The Owls Nest is located on 5 acres and has trees behind the cabin and the river running through the front yard. The views are wonderful and the sound of the river, birds and wind in the trees is soothing to the soul!!
The Owls Nest is the perfect location to get away and relax without being to far from civilization if you choose.
A large new covered porch with fireplace makes Owls Nest more enjoyable even through the coolest months.
The pictures do not do this property justice. It is truly a magical location-- beautiful views, river literally a few steps away, plus a wonderful porch with fireplace to enjoy your hot coffee in the cool, misty mornings. Our kids log-rolled down the hill, played in the river, hung out in the hammock, and roasted s'mores at night. It was perfect. More than one of my Instagram followers wanted to know more after seeing the pictures I posted this weekend. It felt like I was letting them in on a big secret! Another bonus: the Ingles in West Jefferson is an awesome grocery store, particularly if you are used to getting organic produce or have folks in your family with special food needs, like gluten-free, etc. That is often hard to find but this store is huge with an awesome selection.
We really enjoyed our stay. The place looks like a post card. The views were wonderful and the sound of the stream in the front yard was so relaxing. It was our 40th anniversary and we could not have picked a better place. Checking the calendar for next trip.
The best part of this rental is the location. Far away enough to relax but within 45 min of Virginia creeper. Grayson highlands and Boone. The new river is right there in the front yard I put the wife and son on a tube and picked them up about 1.5 later downstream. The outdoor porch with fireplace was very relaxing. You are surrounded by mountains river and only a few homes not close enough to impead your privacy. The home had linens. Kitchen. Supplies. All we needed were
Personal belongings which made packing easier. Will be going back
The place is private but about 20 minutes from west jefferson. It is so clean and spacious! We enjoyed fishing on the new river but nothing quite like sitting on that beautiful porch in the mornings and evenings. We also enjoyed going downtown west jefferson for a day of shopping and visiting the cheese factory! Thank you Glenn and Katherine for sharing your beautiful home with us we will
Ould definitely love to stay again!
We spent a wonderful long weekend in this amazing cabin. The river and porch provided much needed refreshment for the soul. As a teacher starting back to school this week, it was the perfect reset before life gets crazy again. Thank you for sharing!
My wife and I loved this place. This was our first time doing something like this and we didn't regret it at all. We loved everything about the place and even the drive in was gorgeous. Glenn was a great host that answered all of our questions. He was a very approachable and made us feel like he had known us forever. Especially enjoyed the fishing and walking the river. Sunrise and sunset was just beautiful! The cabin was cozy, clean and decorated beautifully. In this insane world its nice to know places like this exist to be able to just relax and let it all go.Thanks Glenn for giving us a peace of that!
