Enjoy your vacation getaway while staying in a spectacular log home on 12 acres in Mark Twain National Forest nestled on a private cove located on the 'Quiet side of the Lake'. The 3 story log house has plenty of room to relax and everything you need to make your vacation perfect. Pine logs, milled and kiln-dried in North Carolina, along with notty pine wood, doors and maple hard wood flooring give the home a very rustic and warm feel. Cedar trees that were cut down on the property provide both a functional and unique accent to the home.

Once you enter you will be delighted at the spacious and open floor plan. The lake and tall hardwood trees can be seen through the large windows and sliding glass doors on the back 2 story wall of the family room.

Relax with a drink on the large, covered porch while watching and listening to the birds and wildlife without leaving your chair. You will feel like you are sitting in a tree house with nature and trees all around you.

Cook your favorite meal in a custom designed kitchen while still staying connected with your guests. The kitchen is fully equiped with everything you need to make your favorite meal. Black walnut cabinets, granite counter tops, a farmhouse sink and new stainless steel appliances makes the job easy and enjoyable. A long kitchen table made from old barn wood, the kitchen island and bar will seat up to 12 people for an evening meal.

Soak the day away in a large claw foot tub in the Master Bath. The large Master Bedroom has a very comfortable king size bed for a good night sleep. When you wake up, open the sliding glass doors to join your guests on the back porch for a morning coffee.

A spacious office just off the foyer provides a private get away for reading or using your laptop. Internet access is provided for your convenience. If you need an additional room for sleeping, you can use the day bed and roll out bed.

As you go up the stairs to the second floor, you will find a loft and two bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own full size bath, a queen size bed, 2 single beds and your very own private balcony. In addition, you have your own HVAC unit and thermostat for your own personal comfort.

There are several trails on the property to go on a nature hike through the woods. The backyard has a gradual slope to the lake.

If you need to run into town for supplies, groceries or get something to eat, it is just a short 15 minute drive. If you are looking for a day trip, Branson, Silver Dollar City and Eureka Springs, AR are only 1 hour away.

No Pets and No Smoking....Please.

About The Owner

We both grew up in St. Louis, MO, met in high school and have been married for 36 years. We currently live in The Woodlands,Texas (35 miles north of Houston) and are blessed to have 3 adult children living near-by. We moved to Houston just after getting married in 1980 and have lived there most of our lives. In 1999, our job took us to Philadelphia where we stayed for 8 years prior to returning back to Houston. Although both of us are very busy with our jobs in Houston, we always look forward to our next trip to Shell Knob. We enjoy spending time together or with family and friends. Lisa loves to cook and everyone enjoys eating her delicious meals. Dennis likes getting up early in the morning and take a leisurely boat ride on the lake. Most of all, we enjoy when family and friends tell us how much they like coming to our log home in Shell Knob. This makes it all worthwhile.

Why The Owner chose Table Rock Lake

While growing up in St. Louis, MO, we spent many family vacations on Table Rock Lake. Lisa's parents actually went on their honeymoon to Table Rock Lake 67 years ago before there was a lake. As many of us got married , had our own families and moved away from St. Louis, we remained committed to come back to Table Rock Lake every summer for a family reunion. This tradition continued over the past 35 years. As our parents grow older, we wanted to build a place of our own that everyone could enjoy. We chose Shell Knob because of its beauty and rural feel. We also wanted to build a log home with enough property to give us privacy. The end result, we couldn't be happier ! What a beautiful and charming area to live and we love our log home and property. After almost 7 years of coming up to Shell Knob from Houston, we can't wait for our next visit. We hope you enjoy our home and get as much pleasure from it as we do.

What makes this cabin unique

As you drive down the gravel road to our log home you will approach a small pond. The sounds from the frogs at night, especially after a rain, are magnificant. Michael, our middle son, named it the 'Chorus Pond'. There are several paths that we cleared on the 12 acre property to take leisurely walks through the woods. The slow gradual slope of the backyard provides for an easy walk to the lake. We also enjoy building a campfire in the evenings in front of the house. This is a great place to sit back with a drink and look at the stars on a clear, cool evening.

The boys like to ski and wake board with their friends and cousins. There are some great rock cliffs to jump off near the Big M Marina and a rope swing under the Shell Knob bridge.

The small town of Shell Knob has everything you need. Groceries, shopping, hardware store, dining, golf, etc. Our favorite place to eat is at the Steak Inn located just south of the bridge. Nice place if you need a break from the kitchen. Also, the Pizza Hut in town is great, If you have a boat, you can dock it on the lake and walk up. Icy Mays in town is also good for breakfast or lunch. Have fun !!!

Super clean, quiet, retreat (off the beaten path)!

The house is beautiful! The indoor amenities are great! It was a super clean home with beautiful views. During our stay the lowest level/basement was in the middle of remodeling. Looks like it will have even more to offer when complete. It is a bit of a winding road to get to and it is easy to miss the turn to the driveway (the current directions about a mailbox with a name is not up to date). It is about 15 mins to the nearest grocery store via the winding roads. A further trip to a good restaurant. If you get car sick easy, bring some Dramamine...especially if planning a trip to Branson, MO. Would definetly return and recommend to my family and friends.

Beautiful, spacious home. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this lovely home. The layout worked beautifully for our group of 10: 2 families (with 2 kids each) in the upstairs bedrooms (although the cozy alcoves are almost a bit too cozy for lanky teens!), grandparents in the master downstairs, and another grandparent in the office/spare room. The common areas are spacious and comfortable for a big group; the kitchen is well appointed (although the oven seems to cook quite slowly/inconsistently); the pool table in the basement was lots of fun for all of us; the deck is huge and even in December we spent some time there, enjoying the view and the quiet woods.

The house sits on a lovely lot, wooded and sloping down to the lake. Very private and secluded. But, even with the accurate instructions provided by the owners, I wouldn't recommend trying to find it at night. It is tucked far away down a gravel drive. We had to drive out to the road to fetch one group who couldn't find their way.

Wi-fi is easy to connect to, but slow when several people are using it at once. Don't plan to use it to stream videos.

I highly recommend this house. We hope to stay there again someday!

Absolutely Amazing! Wouldn't change anything!

The property was phenomenal! We stayed here for my 30th birthday with a group of about 14 people. Mostly couples, some singles. With air mattresses, there was PLENTY of room to stay. The owners were so pleasant and accommodating. The cabin was immaculately clean. Everything was perfect. My group keeps questioning when we are going to return because they've never had such a great time. I will warn you though, coming in at night was a bit scary because it is literally in the middle of NOWHERE but there were absolutely no horror story issues :) Wonderful place, wonderful ownership, wonderful experience!

Table Rock group trip

Very nice cabin with plenty of room for a large group. Furnishings and decor are very rustic but cabin appears to be very new with nice wood floors and modern amenities throughout. Large deck is great for grilling and hanging out. Large basement with stained concrete floors is a great hangout area for playing pool/socializing. If you are getting a boat, the dock is not within walking distance from house due to the terrain and trek from access road to dock is a bit treacherous. We had a large raft in the cove that we hung out on and the cove was perfect for this. The walk down to the water from the house is also treacherous and hauling coolers/rafts up/down this can be very tough especially if rain comes in or light gets low. Having a more landscaped path with smaller gravel would be beneficial. There are large tree stumps hidden in the cove so you need to be cautious when jumping in off of rafts or if using small personal watercraft but seemed to be more clear closer to the dock which does have a small deck for lounging/putting coolers. We frequently used the large kitchen space for cooking large meals. Gas stove top is very nice appliances are all better-than-expected when renting a lake cabin. We had plenty of room for all of us to eat and socialize. Overall, it was a great experience and will definitely look into renting again but will definitely be prepared for the hike to the water.

Beautiful piece of property

This is a gorgeous house and very well maintained. The only draw back for us was the steep hill required to get to and from the house down to the cove. We traveled with our elderly parents and unfortunately due to the steep incline they were not able to go down to the water. Our father tried it once and was very worn out an out of breath by the time we got back to the house. A suggestion would be to add steps to make it easier to get up and down. While the property was awesome we were not able to see much of the cove at all due to the amount of trees between the house and the water so it didn't really feel like we were at the lake. Another suggestion would be to thin out those trees so you can actually see the lake and enjoy that view while you are there.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and sharing your comments. Yes, the hill to the boat dock is rather steep and rocky to navigate especially for elderly parents. Unfortunately, this property is owned by the core of engineers and the dock association has been very resistant to work with them to make any improvements so far. Every year, we make improvements on our property to try to improve the view and make it easier to access the cove and develop a beach area. We will continue with these improvements. Since the back porch is right in line with the tree line it is difficult to thin it out enough to have a good view of the lake during the summer. Again, we are trimming the trees and clearing the underbrush more every year but there are limitations without removing many of the beautiful hardwoods. Most of them we can't remove anyway because they are on core property. That being said, with the leaves gone from late fall to early Spring, the lake views are fabulous.

AMAZING!!!!

This cabin is AMAZING!!!!! One suggestion to folks is: go prepared to live remotely. The nearest grocery store (Walmart) is close to 45-60 minutes away (Aurora, Mo). I am planning to make this a yearly trip!!!!

The town of Shell Knob, which is 15 mins away from our cabin, has just about everything you need including a full grocery store called the Country Market. If interested in a Walmart, the closest is in Berryville, AR which is 30 mins away.
