This stunning 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom residence offers enough space to comfortably sleep up to 6 guests, making it the ultimate vacation spot for your next family getaway. The moment you arrive, you’ll become enchanted by this picturesque setting. While the property is nestled in a temperate rainforest, its located within the banana belt of Oregon, allowing you to enjoy an abundance of sunshine throughout your stay. You’ll also get to experience plenty of peace and privacy, as the house backs up to expansive open space, with neighbors on only one side. Beautifully landscaped grounds with fresh flowers, towering trees, and fresh herbs like lavender further enhance this setting, creating a truly magnificent backdrop.
Inside, you’ll find the house inviting and warm, boasting cathedral ceilings, grand oriental rugs and top-notch tile work, as well as redwood and cherry features throughout 2,000 square feet of well appointed living space. To add to this property’s charming character, several of the furnishings have been handmade. Look forward to spending your downtime in the great room, where you can cozy up by the stone fireplace and admire the picturesque scenery - all of the room’s windows are modeled after an English greenhouse, so they bay outwards and offer fantastic views.
You’ll love preparing your favorite home-cooked meals in the fully equipped kitchen, complete with all the necessary kitchen tools and a quaint breakfast nook. Spend your evenings on the spacious deck, sipping a nice glass of wine and relishing in views of the glittering ocean and rock formations. At the end of the night, you’ll be happy to retire to the wonderful master bedroom, which features a cedar walk-in closet, toasty fireplace, and bay window seat overlooking the ocean. You’ll find it impossible not to relax with the master bathroom’s steam shower and clawfoot tub.
A path off the property will take you straight to the sandy shore, so it's likely you’ll want to spend all your time swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. For added convenience, there’s an easier, less rough path that begins 5 minutes down Hamond Land and winds along a switchback path that's shared with the neighbor. Enjoy a leisurly walk along the shore, while you collect agates, admire the wildflowers, or watch the wildlife. The fishermen in your group will be delighted by prime salmon fishing just 15 minutes to the south along Rouge River.
Explore the area further by driving 15 minutes into Port Orford, or playing a round of golf 45 minutes from house at the world famous Bandon Dunes golf course. The kids are sure to love a trip to the nearby dinosaur park, which features giant concrete dinosaurs. While you’re in the area, make sure to visit a local farm for berry picking. Nice house and property, well maintained but not like a museum where you afraid to touch anything, amazing views. Secluded, have to plan trips to store or town but not a big deal. Looks like there used to be a path on property to the beach but appears it washed away, it is a cliff now, do not try it. Still not a big deal as the path via road then trail is nice, not too steep and only a few minutes walk. Beach is nice, only saw 2 other people whole week, great tidepools. Blackberries were great, saw elk, osprey, pelicans, lizards and no T-shirt shops.
Wonderful house in the middle of nature with an excellent view of the ocean. Interior is spacey and open with comfortable furnishings. The house is located at the top of a hill about a quarter of a mile away from the costal highway. Gold Beach is about ten minutes away (try the Rogue River boat tour). A great place to find peace and quiet. A family of Elk occasionally crossing the property. Ideal.
Quiet, Stunning View. I gave only 4 stars because there was no washer or dryer and the kitchen was lacking. No washer or dryer in a house was a surprise to us. We rent in the area often for work and have never rented a home that didn't come with this basic necessity. Now I know to look for this possibility in the future. This area of Oregon has a lot of poison oak and we are avid hikers, so had to go to the laundromat in Gold Beach (15 minute drive) by day 3 of our trip. The kitchen has a lot of utensils and useful things in it, but is lacking in some of the basic necessities (like a tea kettle, functional wine key or pans not coated in torn Teflon). We boiled water in the one small stainless steel pan in the house for tea and coffee and cooked in the one large cast iron skillet for most of our meals. The rest of the house was great and I highly recommend this location for a quiet retreat.
This was a last minute getaway and we were very much pleased! The house was beautiful and the views could not be beat. You sit on top of a hill that shields you from the wind but as soon as you hit the beach you have enough wind to fly a kite. The sunset is absolutely amazing. We also loved that the house is dog friendly. They had a dog bed and toys. We will definitely be returning.
Very nice place to kick back and relax. Short hike to an awesome, semi private, beach from neighboring property. This property is new to the vacation rental scene so there are some bugs and a few shortcomings that need to be worked on but if you like seclusion this is an excellent place to stay.
We learned that we were the first couple to rent this house.
This rental property is ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway. The house sits on 6 acres located about halfway between Gold Beach and Port Orford on a dirt road in a gated community (I use the word loosely, as there are only a handful of homes in the community, each separate by acres and acres of forest).
The location of the home is absolutely stunning. From inside the living room of the house, the back balcony, or the yard, there is a magnificent view of the ocean, including nearby rock formations. The yard itself is a mix of lawn, garden and trees from which there is complete privacy. The nearest neighbor is about a 5-minute walk down the gravel road (from where one is able to access a trail to the beach). We enjoyed hanging out inside of the house as much as we did outside. Indeed, I personally spent many hours each day merely sitting in the yard reading, meditating, or napping! (Bring your own hammock, as we did; one is not included on the property.)
The house itself consists of one bedroom with king-sized bed, one large bathroom with steam shower and claw-footed tub, kitchen, large living and dining room, and a loft (for children and extra guests). The house also has a double fireplace: one side in the living room; one side in the bedroom. The house is well appointed and cozy.
As I mentioned, there is a trail down to the beach, which you can access adjacent to the nearest neighbor’s property (about a 5-minute walk). The trail cuts through tall grass and winds its way down to the rocky coastline. This is not a beach for sunning yourself; but for walking, playing with the dogs (yes, the rental is dog friendly), and beachcombing. You will need to learn the tides. At high tide, the access to portions of the beach, about ¼ mile in either direction gets cut off. At low tide, however, you can walk to Sisters State Park in one direction or to the mouth of a small river that winds its way to the ocean. Also, keep an eye out, while on the trail, for a small herd of elk! We saw them almost every evening. We also saw a sea otter each a fairly large fish on one of the rocks in the ocean. (Don’t pick the mussels that are available at low tide; not only is a permit required; but apparently there is a toxin warning all along the Oregon coast.)
One final positive: as I mentioned the house is dog friendly. It also includes a dog bed, dog blankets, and dog toys.
