Couldn't get lock box open called and no one was in office, it was dark when we got there tripped over construction wire in front dead water bug on floor as we entered there was a short in the wiring lights flickered the whole time! BBQ grill was dirty and out of propane!! We left a day early to go to a hotel we were highly dissatisfied! Won't return!

Beautiful view! Went to sleep listening to the waves. The sunsets and sunrises were perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The Villa had everything we needed and plenty of space for two couples! Coffee with n the deck watching the sunrise and dolphins started each morning full of promise! The Western end of the Island was only one minute away where the sugar white sand waited for us each morning. The previous nights waves brought treasures galore just waiting to be picked up! I must brag on "The Silver Pearl" shop where a local artist has created the most beautiful drawings on shirts, prints, cards, and more! Also the "Skinner" has the MOST delicious seafood bisque I've ever eaten! Ever! Other must see, must experience is Ft. Gaines at the far Eastern end of the Island as well as the Sea Lab and Estuarium! Simply amazing! I can't say enough about the locals either. They are so kind, friendly, and very helpful! We ended each evening sitting on the deck watching our husbands below us fishing in the lighted area from under the Villa! What an amazing week! We will be back very soon!

Cute clean house literally IN the gulf!

  • 4 of 5

The house was perfect for us with two adults and two kids. It was small and clean. However parking is a mess. I don't know if sand get shoveled but it needed it. Dragging everything from our truck was quite a trek. Don't think you'll be able to park under or next two the house. You will share parking spaces with two houses around you (and they happen to have multiple cars!) And the bulkhead decking was in awful shape. We knew the house didn't have a covered patio but we assumed we could hang out under the house during the middle of the day but there was exposed rebar and missing/rotten decking. It wasn't safe at all for my small kids but my husband fished off of it and loved the fact that we were set out in the gulf a bit! The sound of the waves can be heard through the house at night and is super relaxing. Also the room with the bunk beds is a converted porch without a fan and it gets super hot but it didn't change how much my kids loved sleeping in it! Great beach house for our third year in dauphin island!

Unbelievable location!

  • 3 of 5

The location of the house makes this property worth renting again. Directions and instructions from the agency were helpful and very clear. We arrived late at night and had no trouble finding the house or getting in. The property was clean and we found everything we needed to prepare breakfasts in the mornings. There are a few things that I feel keep the property from earning a high score. The window coverings in the living area are stained and ripped and do not function well. There was only 1 roll of toilet paper in each bathroom and we had to buy more at the local store, no problem but we could have brought our own had we known. There was no dish soap to hand wash anything. The worst issue was the squeaky bed frame in the master bedroom. The bed was comfortable enough but the noise woke my husband and I up every time we turned in the night, and he is very hard of hearing. Also, when we were leaving we tried to start a wash in the washer and the knob was completely loose and gave no indication on the setting. We think we got it right but that should be addressed. The shower liner in the master bath should be replaced. We had a wonderful time on the island, filling our days with sight seeing and walks on the beach. Many times we commented it was like we were on a boat in the middle of the gulf and for that reason I would stay there again.
