This property is located across the river from the Kenai Princess Lodge at the beginning of the Upper River Rapids. There is about 130 feet of low bank river frontage and an additional 700 feet of wade access under normal water conditions. This property can be rented with the neighboring River House upstream (VRBO #252577).
We have completed a significant remodel during the winter and spring of 2016 which included adding a new washer/dryer, new flooring, upgrading the kitchen, adding five windows, full length dormer, new interior and exterior paint and a Norwegian stove to better experience this river front setting.
The Kenai River is open for fishing between June 11th and May 1st. The ADF&G website is a great source of information on the latest fishing regulations.

About Ryan and Robin
There are few things I enjoy more than floating down the Upper Kenai. I was lucky enough to spend the month of September fishing in Cooper Landing for about a decade before owning this property. For any guests that have not experienced the fall in Cooper Landing, I strongly recommend it.
Ryan and Robin purchased this House in 2011
Why Ryan and Robin chose Cooper Landing
There are many houses available for rent in Cooper Landing, but few have the river front privacy and fishing as the Bear Den. Sitting by a warm fire down by the river after a great day of exploring Alaska is one of our favorite features of the property. If the world class rainbow fishing was not enough, the upper river is one of the most beautiful places I have come across. The house sits across from the drift only marker on the Upper Kenai (No motors allowed). Just upstream from the property, the river begins to narrow and pick up current.
What makes this House unique
Rainbows and Dollies can be caught easily for most of the summer and fall. In late September and October the second run of Silver Salmon start to stack up behind the house. In March and April the property is home to a concentration of bald eagles that are feasting on spawning silver salmon creating some fantastic photo opportunities.

Nice home, with all the amenities
Home was great. Location was great. The only thing missing was live television, although satellite television appeared available all over the community.
Thank you for your review. Unfortunately the property is located on low bank, upper Kenai river frontage and is sandwiched between two steep mountain faces. Mt. Cecil and Mt. Slaughter block dish signal due to the azimuth and elevation telemetry requirements associated with current dish technology. While this problem is common in Cooper Landing due to the dramatic mountain landscape, there are many residential properties and commercial businesses around Cooper Landing that have a line of site around these two mountains within 3-5 miles of the property.
We are hopeful that dish or internet technology will evolve in the future to enable us to provide cable TV for our guests. Until then we have installed the fastest DSL connection available in Cooper Landing to enable streaming of online content through the TV. If your favorite team is playing during your stay we recommend Sacketts, Gwins or the Sunrise Bar.
Enjoy The Bear Den
Four guys really enjoyed our stay at the Bear Den. The location is great for fishing the Upper Kenai. We cooked all our meals and found everything we needed. Unfortunately, it rained so we couldn't enjoy eating on the deck, but we did BBQ dinner each night. We are all good size guys and the loft was a little tight for 2 of us (low ceiling), but we survived.
Perfect place on the Kenai River.
This is my second visit to the Bear Den. I will return. Love Cooper Landing, the fishing, rafting, and the cabin.
Great home base for a group for fishing. River behind the property was beautiful. Wish the fishing would be. Enter from the bank, but the owners can't do anything about that.
Great time with great friends
