About James Robertson
I'm James and this is my family - swimming 5 yards away from Seabreeze Lodge. We live in Wimbledon, England. I publish DJ Mag and Karen is a chief pharmacist. We try to visit Great Exuma at least once a year. We absolutely love it, and you will too.
James Robertson purchased this Lodge in 2013
Why James Robertson chose George Town
My father bought a plot of land in the 1960s in Great Exuma. The plot was advertised in The Times. Until this year he had never seen his plot. A few years ago I was in Miami at a conference with my wife, we decided it would be fun to visit this mysterious piece of land, that I had heard so much about during my childhood. When I was in Great Exuma my father rang to ask if I would also visit his cousins' plot of land south of George Town. When we got there, it was breath-taking. The plot was on the sea, the sun was setting and there was something absolutely magical about the place. On returning back to England I made an offer to my father's cousins to buy the land. It took five years for them to agree, but in 2012 I became the proud owner of a 1/4 acre piece of land in the middle of the Caribbean. On January 1st 2013 we started building and in August 2014 we took our first family holiday in Seabreeze Lodge. It was fabulous.
What makes this Lodge unique
1. Secluded, but secure. 2. Unbelievable views. 3. Heated fresh-water pool (I don't know of any other heated pools on the Island), in Summer its not necessary, but in Winter it definitely is. 4. An emergency generator - Great Exuma, does suffer power cuts, but our generator could power a small city! 5. Excellent air-con. 6. Clear skies - not a plane in sight (or in earshot) 7. A boat ramp - to launch a boat, kayak or simply walk into the sea. 8. Wifi
Pool / Spa
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Beautiful house and location
We had an excellent stay at Seabreeze. The property is as depicted in the photos, with a well-appointed living space and beautiful views. As noted by some, the living room does not have a lot of seating for a large group, but it was plenty for the two of us. The master bedroom was comfortable and spacious, and the other bedrooms looked clean and comfortable as well. The kitchen had everything we needed from utensils to spices, including a great coffee maker and grinder. The outdoor space is inviting, spacious, and the pool is huge and refreshing. Joanes met us at the property and provided us with all of the information we needed. He was respectful of our privacy, but available if we needed him. James and Karen were absolutely wonderful to work with, being very helpful, accommodating, and responsive with communication. I would not hesitate to recommend this property, and I look forward to staying at Seabreeze again in the future.
Incredible view! Great private location
We loved being on the flats! The water was calm, kayaking, walking to the sandbar and to the island beyond was awesome! It is farther than it seems but well worth it. We did it several times and took a lunch once. Make note of the tide times before going. We had 3 adult children so they could carry kayaks and paddle boards if we missed it coming back, but you could anchor them until the tide rises also. Just sitting by the pool or deck and enjoying the view was spectacular also. The beds were comfortable, kitchen very well stocked. I loved the art and the maps of the area on the walls of the home. Joanes organized a fishing trip with Marvin who picked us up at the back of the property. Marvin took 3 of us to the reefs where we caught plenty snapper, grouper and other fish and saw many beautiful fish and a sea turtle. We decided this may be our best trip yet or at least in the top 3 with Maui and St. John USVI. The difference between 5 and 4 stars was the living room furniture though nice was not completely comfortable to lounge for 5 adults at night. Deck loungers were also showing wear. I'm sure the owners will replace them when necessary.
Amazing in every way, loved walking and paddling out to sandbar everyday.
It was perfect. A week in paradise with good friends and family and such a nice house, pool and well equip kitchen.
We will be back again soon.
Beautiful Vacation spot
My wife and I recently spent a week at Sea Breeze lodge, and had a wonderful vacation. Joannes the caretaker met us at the airport and showed us the way to Sea Breeze. We had rented a car at Berlies, which is just steps from the airport. The home is perched right on the water, with spectacular views. The living area is all on the second floor, with amazing views from the three sliding doors. The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of closet and dresser drawer space, and the beds are very comfy.
The kitchen is great with nice appliances, and lots of counter space. We loved taking the sea kayaks and paddle boards out at low tide and fishing for bonefish right out in front of the house. We also met up with Garth, a local fishing guide who keeps his flats boat a few houses away from sea breeze lodge, and caught at least 12 bonefish during our 1/2 day with him. We also went to the Rusty Anchor at February point for dinner and drinks, and had a great dinner! The neighbors around sea breeze were all friendly and occasionally stopped by for a cocktail, and invited us to their place for a cocktail. The pool was very clean and a great spot to cool off after a day of wading the flats. All in all we had a great time in the Exumas. I highly recommend sea breeze lodge, and would have given Sea breeze 5 stars, but the living room furniture wasn't very comfortable, and is in need of updating, and we had to empty the garbage in all the rooms when we first arrived. But overall a wonderful vacation at Sea breeze lodge.
It truly was wonderful and Joanes was fantastic. There are a few minor things that hopefully will be corrected , but truly we can not wait to come back. We are looking to book in March 2020 and hopefully your new home will be available to rent at that time.
Fabulous Stay at Seabreeze
We spent 7 wonderful night at James and Karen's place on our first family reunion (3 generations, 6 adults and 1 toddler). Everything was perfect as per others' reviews before us. The owners were very responsive, the on-site assistant Joanes was friendly and helpful. The house's beautifully located. With our two and a half years old grandbaby, we didn't do too many activities too far away from the house but did enough to know that we wanted to come back to the area and to this house on another trip. The sandbar behind the house, the pool, kayaks and paddle boards, BBQ provided were very nice to have. Watching the sunset and star gazing were two favorite things for our family during this stay. Thank you, James and Karen, for sharing your special place with us. We're looking forward to return there again whenever possible.
Big hugs from the Herzogs
Seabreeze Lodge is set in the most amazing setting. Isolated, but secure, the lodge is located directly on the sea front with views of the sea and cays. A boat ramp leads directly into the sea. Hunt bonefish from the lodge, or set sail from from the property.
