Just feels like home!
We just finished another amazing stay in the Exumas and this time tried out James & Karen's place. First of all I cannot say enough about the service and care that was given to us by both James and Karen and Joanes. We almost didn't go on this vacation due to the Covid-19 scare. But since there were no cases in the Bahamas we made the decision to stick our heads in the sand for a week and pretend nothing was happening. There was a chance while we were there that we thought we were going to get stuck in the Bahamas with the flights getting grounded. James was so nice to offer his place to us to hunker down until things passed. All his booking cancelled and he said we had his place for 3 months. This was unbelievable and shows that we all are human and are all supposed to stick together. Thank you James and Karen for this act of humanity.
So the house is amazing too! Everything is super comfortable. Living room furniture had plenty of room for all 5 of us, the kitchen table was spacious, the kitchen was comfortable to cook in, and the outsides were loaded with amenities. Bedrooms were comfortable and the master bathroom was spacious. We had the pleasure of daily using the paddle boards and Kayaks to go out to the sand bar. You can even walk across if you want since at low tide its about at your knees and high tide maybe at your waist deep. We brought fishing poles but never used them since there was so much to do. But if your a fisherman we literally would look down and see Bone fish just chillen by the rocks. The area if you have never been there has a liquer store down the street about 5 minutes, Exuma Markets is about 10 minutes down the street, and the Meat Market is about 20 minutes away. Plenty of stock of groceries even during an Epidemic. The seafood joint is right across from the Shell Station in downtown Georgetown.
We took a private day trip with Perez Wright and had the time of our lives. He took us to the new location for the swimming pigs which was much closer and in my opinion less touristy. We got to see the iguanas, snorkeled the underwater piano playing mermaid, and he even taught us how to find Conch and clean them. At the end of the day Perez took us to a private beach and cooked us a Conch and Lobster Shore Lunch. Ask Joanes or look on Facebook to find him.
Thanks again James & Karen for your hospitality and we will be back!!!
This house couldn't have been more perfect for our family of 6!! When we arrived Joanes the caretaker(who was awesome) and rental car company(Berlies) was there to greet us at the airport. We then picked up some groceries on our way back to the house. The dirt road to the house is really chewed up due to erosion so patience is need traveling back and forth from house to main road. Upon arriving at the house, it was situated in a quiet neighborhood with lots of privacy and the views were stunning!! The house was well appointed and equipped. The owners left a very informative book/manual at the house full of great advice and directions to incredible beaches/restaurants to visit and we took advantage of several with rave reviews! The back patio with covered cabana, bar area and pool that end as the beautiful crystal clear water starts were amazing. Although not on a "beach", the boat ramp on the property runs right into knee deep water with a soft sandy bottom. We loved walking out to the sand bar that appeared every low tide right outside the house. The complimentary paddle boards and kayaks were great! My husband is a flyfisherman and this spot on bonefish flats was ideal! The pictures of the view off the patio do not even come close to seeing it in person and the sunsets were amazing!
Some tips.....we brought a cooler of frozen foods for the week and packed dry goods in luggage (food very expensive), we rented a car so that we could travel to all the various beaches and local hangouts(very easy to find your way since there is really only one main road), we booked an incredible day trip with Triple A Adventures that took us to see Thunderball Grotto, the iguanas, swimming pigs, Compass Cay to swim with the sharks and a beautiful huge sandbar(well worth every penny), we water taxied to the Chat and Chill restaurant on Stocking Island and wish we had stayed longer(very fun vibe, wade with the rays, enjoy cornhole, swings and yummy food and drinks).
Overall, our experience at SeaBreeze Lodge was top notch and we are definitely looking to return soon! Thank you James and Karen for allowing us to stay at your wonderful home!!
Exceeded our expectations
Location, location, location. This view is breathtaking. Having the pool right behind the ocean is amazing. We spent most of our tine outdoors but the house is also perfect. Joanes is magnificent. He set us up with an island tour and swimming with the pigs. He also set us up with a private chef who came to the house to cook lobster tails and steak for our group. Last minute my 26 year old son decided to join us and our four best friends. He said it was his best trip to date!! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing slice of heaven with us. Next time we will rent your nearest home next door. It looks amazing
My family and I throughly enjoyed our time at Seabreeze lodge. The property was everything it was advertised. It was clean, modern, and very functional. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Great Beach House
Perfect beach house for a family or two couples. Very clean, and the kitchen is super well-equipped! We cooked in basically every night. The pool was awesome and they provide kayaks and paddle boards to use on the sea just outside the door. This is our second time back here and we loved it just as much if not more! The only drawback is the road to get to the house is pretty much horrible. Very rocky and full of deep potholes.
Seabreeze Lodge is set in the most amazing setting. Isolated, but secure, the lodge is located directly on the sea front with views of the sea and cays. A boat ramp leads directly into the sea. Hunt bonefish from the lodge, or set sail from from the property.
About James Robertson
I'm James and this is my family - swimming 5 yards away from Seabreeze Lodge. We live in Wimbledon, England. I publish DJ Mag. We try to visit Great Exuma at least once a year. We absolutely love it, and you will too.
James Robertson purchased this Lodge in 2013
Why James Robertson chose George Town
My father bought a plot of land in the 1960s in Great Exuma. The plot was advertised in The Times. Until this year he had never seen his plot. A few years ago I was in Miami at a conference with my wife, we decided it would be fun to visit this mysterious piece of land, that I had heard so much about during my childhood. When I was in Great Exuma my father rang to ask if I would also visit his cousins' plot of land south of George Town. When we got there, it was breath-taking. The plot was on the sea, the sun was setting and there was something absolutely magical about the place. On returning back to England I made an offer to my father's cousins to buy the land. It took five years for them to agree, but in 2012 I became the proud owner of a 1/4 acre piece of land in the middle of the Caribbean. On January 1st 2013 we started building and in August 2014 we took our first family holiday in Seabreeze Lodge. It was fabulous.
What makes this Lodge unique
1. Secluded, but secure. 2. Unbelievable views. 3. Heated fresh-water pool (I don't know of any other heated pools on the Island), in Summer its not necessary, but in Winter it definitely is. 4. An emergency generator - Great Exuma, does suffer power cuts, but our generator could power a small city! 5. Excellent air-con. 6. Clear skies - not a plane in sight (or in earshot) 7. A boat ramp - to launch a boat, kayak or simply walk into the sea. 8. Wifi
