Property type house
Minimum Stay 6 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom, Sleeping Loft, 2 Bathrooms, Private Light, Airy With Use of Lake

Woodland retreat on dirt road 1 mile from main road. Extremely quiet and peaceful with some great books. Swimming at your door. House designed by the owner has large airy living room that opens on to an even bigger deck. Master bedroom upstairs and fold out bed in library. Kids of a certain age love sleeping loft. 2 bathrooms Fully equipped with washer/dryer, linens, well equipped kitchen, WI Fi, Small kayak. There is plenty of parking. Resident wild life and birds galore to keep you company. Perched on a steep hill, the house has a small spiral staircase to the 2nd floor. These two aspects make it not suitable for people with bad knees, heart conditions or very small children. The unpaved driveway to the house makes it advisable to leave the Jaguar at home and bring a car with some clearance. Please note; the map is incorrect. The name of the pond is Tucker Pond not White Pond. Not my mistake; Home Away's

About Owner/Manager

Owner also lives NYC and summers in Maine. Uses the house in winter. I am a sculptor, my husband, a photographer. We are dog owners, kayakers who enjoy outdoor living and travel . I grew up in the area, lived across the lake, went to school in Providence, attended Oberlin College and have MA from New York University, My husband went to Harvard. and is from Boston. We are probably much older than you so you can be sure that the house is pretty comfortable. We built it in 1988 and have enjoyed it for all this time.

Owner/Manager purchased this house in 1988

Why Owner/Manager chose South Kingstown

As I just said, I built it. It is on land owned by my great grandmother.I like it. What more do you want to know?

What makes this house unique

Oh for Pete's sake! Enough! Obviously I think it is a desirable getaway from the city. There is also a new studio on the property which I intend to start using in the fall. (Not included in the rental. )

Goat Point is for active people who want peace and quiet and can make their own fun. The small, light, airy house with a large deck is at the end of a long dirt road surrounded by laurel and wild rhododendron ( which blooms in profusion in the first two weeks of July. It's quite a spectacle in a good year! ) Many birds, otters, beavers, fishers and coyotes. You can read, sunbathe, swim from a small float below the house, kayak, bike and walk through woods to your heart's content.Town and beaches are near by. Living is simple. There are no neighbors in the immediate vicinity but a short drive or bike can take you to more populated areas.

Great hideaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a very unique house on a beautiful pond. All linens and towels were provided. Kitchen was very well stocked with everything I needed. There was no TV but I never missed it. House is a very close drive to the bike path and not too far from the Narragansett area beaches. As the pictures show, the house does sit on a hill so be prepared for a lot of steps from the driveway to the front door. The road to the house is a very long winding gravel road through the woods, so I would recommend a 4x4 or AWD vehicle. This place is a bit remote but very quiet and peaceful.

This is a private home for 9 months of the year. The house contains some reasonably good furniture. We value our possessions and are grateful if you treat them with consideration. We also value our relationship with the neighborhood which frowns on loud cars, fierce dogs, ecological destruction etc. There is newly constructed studio next to the house which is not included in the rental, sorry.

Check for $400 non-refundable deposit with return of rental agreement. Balance of $500 plus $300 refundable damage deposit due 3 weeks before occupancy
