About the property

3 bedroom 2 bath, sleeps 6. Walk/bike to PRIVATE pond, beach, tennis playground

Our gorgeous and serene windmill cottage welcomes you and your family to the quintessential charming Cape Cod. Located within close proximity to the famous Kennedy Compound, we are within minutes walk or a bike ride to both the Lewis Pond and beautiful Seagull Beach. Here you can find both the old world charm and the quaintness of the Cape Cod: sports, water, shopping, mini golfing, best seafood and restaurant, or simply relaxing and spend the day on the beach, yet still feel as if you are away from it all but only surrounded with the comfort and privacy of your loved ones.

Directly sitting behind the shoreline of Lewis Pond- a large salt water pond leading directly into Nantucket Sound, there is a large picnic area, children's playground and two full size tennis courts behind our cottage that are exclusively for village owners and guests use. Walking past it towards the private boat ramp leads you to the commanding views over the pond to the dunes of Seagull Beach at the far shore of the pond and the sparking Nantucket Sound in the distance. Walk or paddle to Seagull beach, voted one of the best beaches on Cape Cod for its gentle surf, wide sandy surface and lifeguard served swimming. Launch your kayak right behind the cottage and be out in the Ocean in minutes!! Our village is surrounded on 3 sides by water, Lewis Pond in front and extensive tidal salt marsh to the side and behind. Wonderful Privacy! Amazing bird watching!. Fishing and clamming is right there in the back of the cottage. Our backyard has a large patio area that is very private, surrounded by beautify landscaping trees and perennials. Use the outdoor shower to wash away salt and sand from a beach day. Outdoor grill and fire pit are provided to our guest so they can enjoy grilling with family and friends, sitting by the bonfire roasting marshmallows with the kids.

Inside the sunny, bright and artistically decorated cottage you will find traditional decors with Cape charm mingled with modern, fresh, clean and convenient amenities. Kids will love to climb up and down the spiral staircase inside the windmill, and staying at the upstairs bedroom is perfect for them with two twin size beds. On the first floor there are two bedrooms: one master suite with a full bathroom shower, 2nd bedroom with two twin beds. Additional sleeping area can be found in a study next to the master bedroom with a twin daybed. Additional one full bath has a soak tub great for taking a bath after a long day under the sun. There are two laundry areas convenient for guests with extended stays. Fresh and clean linens and towels are always available. The kitchen and pantry is fully stocked with pans, pots, plates, glassware, utensils and spices. Guests are encouraged to notify us or our house keeper at any time for anything else they need to make the stay more enjoyable.

This cottage has been in our family for generations. We all have grown up now but the memories of the wonderful time spent with our family here is always unforgettable. That's why we still take our kids here to stay whenever we can, at the same time taking care of and maintaining the best condition for the guests. We have no doubt that when you stay here at the windmill you would also create your own sweet memories of the cape for years to come. It's a great complement for us to see you and your family keep coming back and stay with us soon again!

Gorgeous house plus fabulous weather

  • 5 of 5

My family have been to the Cape for years. We passed this windmill cottage many times, admired its eye catching design and great location. Fortunately for us we were able to stay there past fall. What a peaceful and memoriable experience to enjoy the great fall weather on the Cape! Our housekeeper was so sweet and helpful, stopped by twice to cater to our needs. Words of advice for those uneasy with earth's little creatures: Cape Cod is a place where ALL creatures' coexistence brings out it's true beauty and radiance. Don't let presumptions cloud ones eyes. Give it a try and see for yourself.

Not impressed.

  • 3 of 5

Owners were helpful and even offered us access to house a little early. Good with answering questions before our arrival. We loved the outdoor fire pit, outdoor shower and bbq area. Items that were not up to our expectations, we have by the way rented many homes over the years and this is the first time we see the need to print up problem issues:

-no kayak were provided. Emailed owner two days before arrival to ask about life vest and was told this then. Kids were disappointed and listing does say kayak is provided.

- problems with ants and spider web. Did not feel I should have to deal with spider webs on arrival and constant ant problem (only solved with total clean counters and sink, however they filled the dishwasher)

- overall condition of house. When it is priced at that level we should not have cracked Windows or floor was very uneven.

Loved short driving distance to beach and organic grocery stores.

Thanks for having us.

Owner's Response: Hi Nian, There were never kayaks offered at my cottage. It's unfortunate you might have confused my listing with others, and as a result your kids were disappointed. I do take this as a great recommendatio. I will definitely consider for future guests if there is more demand for kayaks. Most guests bring their own or are happy with local rentals that we recommend. As for spider, ants and mosquitos which are common creatures in the summer along beachside on the Cape, my recommendation would be for anyone who's not comfortable with them to stay further away from water, rent anything other than beachside cottages. It's a pleasure to have you. Rachel

Nice location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. The location of the cottage is convenient if you like to go to the beach. Overall the house is nicely decorated and well maintained. However, be aware of the TV in the living room since the cable signal tends to drop for no apparent reason. Otherwise, everything else was very good.

Perfect home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect escape home! It is warm and inviting. The rooms were full of character. All the beds were comfortable and clean, the kitchen it the perfect size and stocked with just about anything you really needed. We had one issue with the heater but we let the owner know and they had it fixed immediately. They left a list of activities and places to eat, we did most and we're never disappointed! We hope to come stay again.

Unforgettable stay at the Yarmouth Windmill Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is located in such a good location! Our kids took bike rides to the beach every day, the streets are clean quiet and safe to ride around. It's easily accessible to grocery stores, plus our favorite markets Wholefoods and Trader Joe's are both only 10 mins away. My wife and I loved playing tennis every morning thanks to the brand new tennis racquets in the owner's shed, and the two kids bikes there were just perfect size for my kids. It is very thoughtful and saved us from the trouble of looking for a rental. The biggest hit was the outdoor shower. We used it every day after every trip from beach. The fire pit in the backyard was so cozy to use in the evening, the kids had lots fun toasting marshmallows with it while we sat and drank around the fire. Overall we had a BLAST and we will come back next year the same week again, to our favorite Windmill on the Cape!

Such a great house!

  • 4 of 5

When we were searching for a place on the Cape to spend a long girls' weekend, we came upon this charming house and thought it seemed perfect. We are so glad we stayed here! The home was clean, so lovely, and well stocked with everything we needed. It was also within walking distance to a quiet, pretty beach and Main St. where we had several eateries to choose from. Staying in West Yarmouth put us in a great place from which to explore the upper Cape. We made day trips to Sandwich, Chatham, Woods Hole/Martha's Vineyard and the close proximity of the house to both Main and 6 made the drives super easy to navigate. We would love to stay here again and are so glad we chose this place.
