About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4 adults)

The Blue Span Shenandoah Cabin is a romantic and private weekend getaway cabin with fantastic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. The cabin is a short walk from the Shenandoah River. The cabin is complete with a freestanding fireplace for those special evenings.

This is a very clean modern cabin with rustic touches that brings you comfortably to fully enjoy the splendor of the Shenandoah Valley. You can enjoy cooking out with the charcoal BBQ grill in the evenings. Or you can lazily watch from the hammock the colors of fall or the sunset illuminate the Blue Ridge Mountains as you relax.

This cabin has two very comfortable queen-sized bedrooms, a full bath and fully equipped kitchen including microwave and coffee maker. All pots, pans, utensils, and dinnerware are provided along with basic condiments required for a relaxing stay.

There is a freestanding fireplace in the great room with a sleep sofa. The great room has ample glass for you to enjoy the views while relaxing in front of a fire. We also provide pressed wood fire logs to burn in the freestanding fireplace.

The views from the cabin are nothing short of spectacular. See the sunrise over the Blue Ridge Mountains in the morning while enjoying a cup of freshly brewed coffee or enjoy the sunsets in the evening while eating outside.

The legendary Shenandoah River is but a short walk from the knoll where the cabin sits overlooking it. This stretch of the river is noted for outstanding smallmouth bass fishing and excellent canoeing.

The Shenandoah National Park is a short drive with its excellent hiking trails and fine native brook trout streams. Nearby is a host of recreational activities to include canoeing, tubing, hiking, biking and fishing. Also, a number of excellent tourist attractions are close by.

All linens and towels are provided for two beds.

About The Owner

This is Kathy's private guest cabin located through the woods from her house. It is maintained so she can have family members and guests stay in comfort enjoying the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1995

Why The Owner chose Shenandoah Valley

As a good friend of mine said, this is one of the last great places left. The natural beauty and splendor of the Shenandoah Valley is a national treasure.

What makes this cabin unique

This is very comfortable relaxing cabin with some of the most outstanding views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah National Park. You over look the legendary Shenandoah River that winds slowly through the valley. It is just a short walk down to it. The sun sets on the Blue Ridge in the evening showing you why it is so aptly named. The sun rises over the Blue Ridge each morning while you relax and have your morning coffee. The wall of glass in the living room / great room that connects to the dining area and kitchen provides unparalleled vistas all day long.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Oh my goodness. There are no such words to describe this place. The mountains are our favorite "get a way" and this is by far our favorite place we have ever stayed. The view is spectacular and your home is so cozy. My only regret is that our stay was so brief! Thank you so much for making our mini vacation so wonderful. I found myself longing to be back in the cabin the whole time we were in town. We definitely will be back. Thanks Again. Brittany & Jay

A cozy little get-away!

  • 5 of 5

The Blue Span cabin is a comfortable 2 bedroom cabin nestled on a mountain side which overlooks the Shenandoah Valley and has very nice views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The cabin is comfortable, clean and well stocked. It rained every day we were there but it didn't matter. We had a great time exploring and just relaxing. After a day out exploring, Blue Span felt like coming home. It is easy to get to, but is secluded enough to feel private and safe. Close to Luray and the mountains. Chris was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. He told us the short cuts to town and to the food store, which is maybe 15 minutes away, so you can stock up very easily. We felt very welcomed and would definitely return. Really enjoyed our visit!!

Great cabin, nice and clean. Unbeatable views from the backyard. Cabin was cozy and perfect for relaxing, bed was comfortable. The owner gave us a solid hike recommendation (Kennedy peak), it was a three hr hike that we thouroughly enjoyed. My only regret is that we didnt stay longer. We will definitely come back.

Wonderful location for a relaxing weekend

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay at this cabin for a quick weekend trip. Chris and Kathy were very responsive and helpful with arranging the reservation and check-in. The cabin itself is adorable, and very well stocked with things like coffee, creamer, spices, and food storage (sandwich bags, foil, etc). The view is the best part, and what drew us to the cabin in the first place. We loved sitting out there with coffee in the morning, and then drinks and dinner before it got too dark. Despite being only 15 minutes outside of town, you feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere. The weather was very warm, so we didn't use the fireplace, but at night there were nice breezes so it was very comfortable. We'd happily stay again and recommend it to others.

Adorable cabin, beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is everything you could wish for. Cosy, but not cramped, bright and airy and clean. The huge french doors ensure a great view no matter the weather and the fireplace offers a lovely alternative to the outdoors when the weather doesn't cooperate. The cabin is secluded even though it is close to other cabins. Its close the the river and trails. The only thing that was missing was a fire pit.

The road to the cabin is a little rough, but only for a very short distance. You might not want to bring a car with a low ground clearance.

Karen and Chris were very friendly and accomodating.

Highly recommend

Owner's Response: Thank you. We enjoyed having you as our guests and glad you enjoyed your stay at the Blue Span Shenandoah Cabin. Kathy tries her best to make each stay a rewarding experience for not only our guests, but also for family and friends that stay there also. She likes to make it feel like home rather than just another a rental cabin. Just so you know, the road is scheduled to be graded again this spring after winter weather is finally over.

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

My parents, husband and I stayed at Kathy's place a few weekends ago to enjoy the fall colours. The vista from the living room and deck is absolutely fantastic, both at sunrise and at sunset, and we really enjoyed all the cozy amenities (fireplace, outside grill, hammock...) We very much recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and beautiful outing near Shenandoah National Park. We also found the cabin very well decorated and equipped, extremely clean, and really comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer!
