About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4 adults)

The Blue Span Shenandoah Cabin is a romantic and private weekend getaway cabin with fantastic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. The cabin is a short walk from the Shenandoah River. The cabin is complete with a freestanding fireplace for those special evenings.

This is a very clean modern cabin with rustic touches that brings you comfortably to fully enjoy the splendor of the Shenandoah Valley. You can enjoy cooking out with the charcoal BBQ grill in the evenings. Or you can lazily watch from the hammock the colors of fall or the sunset illuminate the Blue Ridge Mountains as you relax.

This cabin has two very comfortable queen-sized bedrooms, a full bath and fully equipped kitchen including microwave and coffee maker. All pots, pans, utensils, and dinnerware are provided along with basic condiments required for a relaxing stay.

There is a freestanding fireplace in the great room with a sleep sofa. The great room has ample glass for you to enjoy the views while relaxing in front of a fire. We also provide pressed wood fire logs to burn in the freestanding fireplace.

The views from the cabin are nothing short of spectacular. See the sunrise over the Blue Ridge Mountains in the morning while enjoying a cup of freshly brewed coffee or enjoy the sunsets in the evening while eating outside.

The legendary Shenandoah River is but a short walk from the knoll where the cabin sits overlooking it. This stretch of the river is noted for outstanding smallmouth bass fishing and excellent canoeing.

The Shenandoah National Park is a short drive with its excellent hiking trails and fine native brook trout streams. Nearby is a host of recreational activities to include canoeing, tubing, hiking, biking and fishing. Also, a number of excellent tourist attractions are close by.

All linens and towels are provided for two beds.

About The Owner

This is Kathy's private guest cabin located through the woods from her house. It is maintained so she can have family members and guests stay in comfort enjoying the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1995

Why The Owner chose Luray

As a good friend of mine said, this is one of the last great places left. The natural beauty and splendor of the Shenandoah Valley is a national treasure.

What makes this cabin unique

This is very comfortable relaxing cabin with some of the most outstanding views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah National Park. You over look the legendary Shenandoah River that winds slowly through the valley. It is just a short walk down to it. The sun sets on the Blue Ridge in the evening showing you why it is so aptly named. The sun rises over the Blue Ridge each morning while you relax and have your morning coffee. The wall of glass in the living room / great room that connects to the dining area and kitchen provides unparalleled vistas all day long.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Oh my goodness. There are no such words to describe this place. The mountains are our favorite "get a way" and this is by far our favorite place we have ever stayed. The view is spectacular and your home is so cozy. My only regret is that our stay was so brief! Thank you so much for making our mini vacation so wonderful. I found myself longing to be back in the cabin the whole time we were in town. We definitely will be back. Thanks Again. Brittany & Jay

FABULOUS

  • 5 of 5

We had such an incredible time! We went on a hike near the cabin (Kennedys peak) that was recommended by the owners and it was the best hike both my boyfriend and I have been on. The views were stunning every where we went. We visited Luray Caverns near by as well as a winery. The cabin was the PERFECT place to relax after hiking and exploring the area. We saw shooting stars, rainbow clouds and even an eagle right from the cabin. I highly recommend visiting!

A cozy house with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was beyond our expectations. We wanted a nice cozy getaway and that is what we got plus more. We told one of the owners that we were going hiking and he told us about a couple of great trails, and that they were. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to all of our friends and family.

Wonderful Place

  • 5 of 5

This is the Best Place a person could ever imagine. Cozy, quiet, comfortable and clean. Has beautiful views. Saw squirrels, birds (an Eagle too) gliding by. We saw three black bear about 12-15 miles away crossing the road in front of us on the day we were leaving. Lots of country around on the way to the local town where the locals will even take time to talk a while!

Can't tell all cause that would spoil your visit - Daisy's Diner, Cooter's Garage and Dukes of Hazard car --

Gorgeous views, fabulous fire place, warm hosts, comfy house

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our time! The views from this house really are stunning. The fire place is really cool, too, and I love how easy it is to use. The bedrooms are comfy. We made lots of meals in the kitchen and found it had everything we needed. Directions were easy to follow to get to the house and the driveway was easy enough for our Camry to handle. (Kathy and Chris hooked us up with a lifesaving coffee grinder and we'll be forever grateful.) Thanks so much!

Owner's Response: We are glad to hear that we helped made your "Babymoon" / Anniversary as enjoyable as it was. We strive to provide everything you need for an enjoyable stay including finding that coffee grinder for those special beans that you broughtto celebrate your anniversary that were saved from your wedding day. We hope to see you again for the next anniversary / get-a-way.

You cannot beat the view from this cabin!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our recent weekend stay at this cabin in Luray. The cabin is a little dated with its furnishings and decor but that was not a turn off for us. The cabin is clean and well stocked with anything you may need for your stay be it two days or longer. If you want to watch television while staying here there is a small tv that offers satellite television. We did not use the television much but the volume stays very low which made it difficult to hear.

Be advised that the owner of the cabin wants to come up and show you around the cabin once you arrive and get settled in. We found this encounter a little uncomfortable but for some this may not be a big deal at all. This is just something for a potential visitor to know before booking. It should also be known that the owners home is directly next to this cabin. While there is a section of woods between the two homes we could still see their residence and we passed it as we entered and exited the cabin.

We enjoyed our stay; the cabin has a view like no other!

Owner's Response: We are glad that you enjoyed your visit with us. Guests are told, before they book, that the Blue Span Shenandoah Cabin is our private guest house on adjoining property that is above our residence with woods in between. Yes, we are on the same street as the directions to the cabin say. Guests are informed that we will come up to check them in, collect the balance due on arrival and answer any questions they may have. We then tell them to call us if they have any issues, but they will not be disturbed during their visit.
