About Benn Batterson
I was born and raised in Coudersport. After meeting my wife and graduating from Penn State we moved back to the area. I had met the previous owner of the farm while working on their grounds. We currently live and raise our family on a sheep farm in Potter County. We strive to provide a childhood of years gone past
Benn Batterson purchased this Farmhouse in 2000
Why Benn Batterson chose Galeton
We purchased the farmhouse and 34 acres in 2000 and bought the remainder of the farm years later. Over the years we have improved much of the house with the latest being a new barn roof this past summer. I love the peace and quiet here. However the winters can be long between Christmas and Spring.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
We are 20 minutes from the nearest traffic light. Our farm is bordered on three sides by 250,000 acres of State Forest land. Public access to these areas allows for many outdoor activities. We are the last permanent residence on Short Run Road and may only see the mailman each day in the winter.

This was exactly what we were looking for, an old farmhouse with lots of character (but still with modern amenities!). Mu daughter, her husband, their four children, and I enjoyed a delightful vacation in the country. Easy-going pace, lots of time for hanging out, but plenty of near-by activities as well. We went for the star-gazing, and although the weather was not great for that, we found that the hillside behind the house was ideal. And no review of this place is complete with mention of the chickens!
Property exactly as described - comfortable farmhouse with plenty space and relaxing.
We enjoyed our stay at Bratz farm and felt right at home. The home was comfortably spacious with lots of space to spread out.
We read about feeding the chickens in others' comments and will admit, it was a lot of fun! The fresh air was soothing - wish we could bottle it up and bring home!!
The only thing we'd do differently is to visit when there isn't a full moon because it was VERY brilliant and prevented us from seeing all the stars at nearby Cherry Springs State park. In fact, I already printed a 2019 calendar and will be checking for available reservations when it will be dark!
I'll be providing information to friends who've expressed a desire to stay near Cherry Springs State park.
Thank you to Benn & Thankful! We really enjoyed our stay!
So peaceful and quiet
My sisters and I had a wonderful weekend at the farm, relaxing on the porches, watching the chickens, and going for long walks
Loved our stay!
We live in Cleveland, Ohio......so this was the perfect getaway for us. Up early in the morning, all you hear are birds and the rooster crowing. Very relaxing! We plan to stay again. Thank you, Benn and family, for offering this home for renting!
Benn was very easy to work with. The house was awesome. We will be renting it again. Thanks again Benn.
Nice farm house, but no privacy.
Nice large farm house, but there are ladybugs and stinkbugs everywhere in the house. The owners live about 100 yards down the road and watched my every move. I received a text message asking me to pay for extra guests that were there for an evening card game. Someone also entered the house when we had left for the day. All in all, if you are looking for a very large house to accommodate many guests, you don't mind bugs and don't really value your privacy this is a perfect place for you. I will not be back!
We are located in North Central Pennsylvania surrounded by the Susquehannock State Forest. We have direct access to snowmobile trails and horseback riding. The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and hiking trail is 30 minutes away.
