About the property

Horse Cove Manner - As soon as you arrive at this stately, yet unpretentious home, you will know

Located on over six acres of beautiful forest with trails, a mountain stream, fruit trees, berry bushes, flowers, herb garden and more. Horse Cove Manner has three living levels. The main level offers a large comfortable living area with flat screen TV, wood burning fireplace, screened porch with a great view of the mountains, kitchen with stainless appliances and granite features with dining areas in an open mountain viewing room. There is a fitness room available and full bath with jetted tub.

There are five spacious bedrooms each with its own bath. This home sleeps 12 easily, and there is a place at thte dining tables for all. The second level has three bedrooms. Each have a king bed and a private bath and windows with nice views of the grounds below. The second level is all original pine paneled walls giving a true mountain feel.

The third level (attic) has two bedrooms, the first one has a double/Full bed, and one twin with a private bath. There is a small TV there for DVD use. The second attic bedroom has one double,/full bed, and 2 twin beds as well as two ‘single-fold out chair’ beds. This bedroom has a larger TV and private bath as well.

This is a well-appointed home with lots of room for a family or several families- great for reunions, wedding parties. The grounds are a treat with several walking trails, you can see Black Rock Mountain from many places, and after a heavy rain, you can see as many as 25 waterfalls. Black Rock Creek runs through the property with a swimming hole for the adventurous, and for the spirit filled, there's a labyrinth to walk as you meditate. Depending on what time of year you are visiting, you can pick flowers, blueberries, raspberries or peaches. There’s a new hot tub area next to a large outdoor dining/ relaxing area with hammock. There’s an herb garden and a very well equipped kitchen to whip up any meal. An outdoor fire pit- great for S'mores and ghost stories. The gentle rolling terrain is perfect for everyone with no need to worry about little ones falling off a mountain here. There's a well equipped work out area with treadmill, Bowflex machine, and a reclining stationary bike for those rare 'not so perfect' outside days.

There is covered parking for one car, and graveled parking for many more.

Horse Cove Manner is truly a destination, but if you must venture out- Main Street Highlands is about 4 winding miles away. If you’re headed to Cashiers, you go the opposite direction for about 10 miles. (Of course, on the way- you can stop at Sliding Rock, Garnet City, Secret Falls, The Iron Bridge, and Ellicott Rock – none of these attractions are well known, and if you blink- you may miss them-but they’re all worth seeing)

While in scenic Horse Cove, you can see one of the widest trees in our area, and between Memorial Day and Labor Day, you can visit the Little Church in the Wildwood for old fashioned hymn sings.

You may see occasional visitors such as black bear, deer, fox, rabbits, turkey and many other birds of all sizes - so make sure you bring your camera! (Always respect the natural habitat of our forest friends- never approach bears or feed them)

Comfortable retreat

4265 Horse Cove Road, Highlands, NC, 28741, United States (3947055)

This large home accommodated my family and friends with ease. It is an older house with well designed additions taking advantage of the spectacular view. A large comfortable screened porch and sunny dining room with maximum windows are additions. The kitchen has everything a gourmet cook needs for preparing a large meal, though pantry is locked. All utensils and all sizes of All clad pots and pans provided. Wifi has limited distance, and tv/sound electronics were hard to understand. Some disorganization but this house provided comfortable space with high quality furniture on ten pretty acres with a large jacuzzi and patio. Highlands is 10-15 high heart rate minutes away, and 20 minutes in the other direction takes you to the beautiful Chatooga river at the iron bridge. Highlands has so many fine restaurants and activities it is near perfect in the summer.

A perfect spot for a 3 generation family vacation

We loved Horse Cove Manor! The home itself is very comfortable and well equipped- and the view is STUNNING! The house is on a beautiful piece of property. We loved the stone fire pit and the large screened porch. Plenty of room for 11 of us . And something for everyone to do in the area- hiking, shopping, biking, dining, etc. A great time was had by all- from 12 to 77!

We had our family reunion there and the home was the perfect space and location. Both the bedrooms and common areas were perfectly suited for our needs. We especially liked the large porch, sunny dining room and the outside space for the kids.

Perfect perfect perfect!

We rented this house for some wedding guests and couldn't have been more pleased. It is extremely well appointed and works especially well for people who don't (at least, yet) know each other, since there are en suite bathrooms. We will definitely be back for family reunions.
