Outside there are peaceful decks on the first floor with table and chairs as well as two roof top decks where you can enjoy some special time alone or with family and friends. Walk to Philbin Beach on Moshup Trail. Access to the beautiful sandy beach is a 5 minute walk from the house. You will also receive parking stickers for the other beaches in Aquinnah. Lobersterville is a long sandy beach facing the Vineyard Sound. And Red Beach is a gentle beach perfect for young kids on Menemsha Pond.
Aquinnah has many places to visit while you are staying at this wonderful house including the historic Gay Head Lighthouse that is being moving back from the Gay Head Cliffs in the summer of 2015 to prevent its plunge into the sea due to erosion. The Gay Head Cliffs are a big attraction and on the way up to the cliff viewing area you will pass several shops and food places from hamburgers to sushi. The Aquinnah Shop has outdoor tables that offer amazing views.
Other beaches include Lobsterville on the north shore and a Menemsha Pond beach called Red Beach that offers young kids a fun and interesting place to play. You can then continue to the Menemsha Bike Ferry which takes you and your bikes over to the fishing village of Menemsha. There are two fish markets, a Texaco gas station with ice-cream and juice and sodas. In addition, there is fried food at the Bite, cafe fare at Bettlebung, groceries at the Menemsha Store and great food that the Homeport a seafood restaurant that's been there for 60 years. You can also go to the back door of the Homeport and order takeout food that you can eat at the outside tables.
An important note: Chilmark and Aquinnah are still "dry" towns. Meaning you have to buy your wine and beer in Oak Bluffs or Edgartown. Our Market in Oak Bluffs delivers to Aquinnah. So you won't have to leave your sanctuary.

Aquinnah is the home of the Wampanoag tribe of Indians who lived on the Cape and the Islands before the Mayflower arrived in Plymouth. There are shops and food establishmentrs and restaurants located at the famous Gay Head Cliffs. Many are run by the local Indians.
