Overview

Washington DC House Rental Photos and Description

Large Home, 4 Bedrooms + twin sleeper, 3.5 Baths, close to metro (Sleeps 8-10)

Large, two story, historic row house. This is the perfect place for your family and friends to come home to after a long day of touring DC. Spacious 2500 sf of indoor living space with private enclosed courtyard patio and large swimming pool and unusually large garden and patio where everyone can spread out. Four (4) large bedrooms - each with a queen bed. Additional futon and crib available. Expansive double living room with two fireplaces opens onto a separate dining room with table for 10. Hardwood floors throughout the home. Eclectic furnishings - modern and antique - with interesting decorative pieces the owner has collected from around the world. Large kitchen complete with everything you need to cook for a large group. Plenty of counterspace and room for several cooks in this kitchen! Laundry. Parking permits available. Very safe neighborhood with many congressmen and senators living on the block.

The four bedrooms and three bathrooms are on the second floor. A half bath is on the first floor. Hairdryers, towels, sheets, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and paper products are all provided. Televisions in each bedroom.

Large outdoor entertaining space with grill and seating for 12+. Unusually large pool for a home in the heart of DC. Floats and towels on site. Pool is surrounded by lush gardens full of flowers and plantings.

535 4th St SE is a ten minute walk to three metro stations. Eastern Market and Capitol South are on the orange and blue line and Navy Yard is on the green line. Ten minute walk to the Nationals' baseball stadium. Five minute walk to at least 40 restaurants on the very trendy 8th Street. Ten minute walk to the Capitol building. Visitors may walk to the Smithsonian museums from this location - about 20 minute to Air and Space museum.

Extremely safe area in the midst of the neighborhood that is home to many congressmen and government leaders. Great place to walk around and look at historic homes with their quaint gardens.

Two wonderful children's parks are within one block. Public tennis courts are one block away. Waterfront park is closeby with free evening entertainment during the summer months. A state-of-the-art gym is on the next block and temporary access can be arranged.

Home is street level and has a front staircase and a rear staircase to the 2nd floor.

Extended parking is available on the street with permit by request.

Big, well maintained, convenient, safe neighborhood, walk to many sites. Owners will take great care of you during your stay!

What makes this house unique

Capitol Hill is an absolutely wonderful place to live. We love the history of the homes nearby and learning what famous people have lived in them, walking by the Library of Congress, Supreme Court, and the Capitol at night, walking to nearby first rate restaurants, and watching the Marine Corps Band and Honor Guard's Tattoo on Friday nights, Recently the city has opened a beautiful new park just down the street on the waterfront. There's a great sidewalk level fountain for the kids to play in, free outdoor/lawn movies and music on summer evenings. The entire Capitol Hill area has undergone an incredible revitalization within the past ten years and many young families with small children fill the many parks. Most of my guests really enjoy Eastern Market - because on weekends you can find great fresh foods, antiques, international craft items, art and lots of jewelry. It is superbusy - very fun place to spend time with friends.

Best of the best

This house was convenient to everything we wanted to do in Washington, DC. The owner was gracious and helpful in every way. Our multi-aged family (from grandparents to young children) were comfortable in this homey, but well decorated home. And it was truly "home" when we returned each day from our touring. You couldn't find a better place to stay in DC. Easy walking distance to Eastern Market and other stores, as well as Metro.

Great place for family

  • 5 of 5

House was wonderful, clean and very large. Host was gracious and very helpful, prompt and accommodating. We had 9 people ranging in age from 6 to 70. Great house for a family visit. First time in DC for some of us. Great location, safe and easy walking distance to 2 Metros, several parks for children. Grocery store (Harris Teeter) on same street within a few blocks, easy walk. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Great houses

  • 5 of 5

We actually rented two houses that were back to back as we have a big family that came to DC to celebrate my moms 80th birthday. Nine brothers and sisters plus grandchildren. Diane was great in helping me understand renting the houses. Lauren was great on answering all of our questions about the area. We had a great family vacation. I would definitely recommend this areas as you are close to everything and the houses are great.

Charming Historic House

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely LOVED staying at this house. We spent a week here when we came to DC for our daughter's wedding. It was a beautiful and spacious gathering place for our family and friends. The neighborhood felt very safe, and we almost felt secluded in the lovely backyard. The pool was a wonderful bonus. It was in the 80s all week, and we were able to enjoy using it every day after sightseeing. A couple of days, the majority of our time was spent at the pool. The location was great for getting around DC. We used the Circulator Bus (which only costs $1.00) to get to the National Mall. We were a pretty self-sufficient group, so after Lauren gave us the basic info about the house and neighborhood, she left us to enjoy our stay. We would definitely recommend this house for a large group (the 3 and 1/2 baths were a big plus). Thank you for a delightful stay.
