Owners have lived in Washington DC for over twenty years and worked at NASA. Their daughter lives next door to the property and is available to assist you in anyway necessary.
Lauren Graca purchased this house in 2006
Big, well maintained, convenient, safe neighborhood, walk to many sites. Owners will take great care of you during your stay!
Capitol Hill is an absolutely wonderful place to live. We love the history of the homes nearby and learning what famous people have lived in them, walking by the Library of Congress, Supreme Court, and the Capitol at night, walking to nearby first rate restaurants, and watching the Marine Corps Band and Honor Guard's Tattoo on Friday nights, Recently the city has opened a beautiful new park just down the street on the waterfront. There's a great sidewalk level fountain for the kids to play in, free outdoor/lawn movies and music on summer evenings. The entire Capitol Hill area has undergone an incredible revitalization within the past ten years and many young families with small children fill the many parks. Most of my guests really enjoy Eastern Market - because on weekends you can find great fresh foods, antiques, international craft items, art and lots of jewelry. It is superbusy - very fun place to spend time with friends.
This house was convenient to everything we wanted to do in Washington, DC. The owner was gracious and helpful in every way. Our multi-aged family (from grandparents to young children) were comfortable in this homey, but well decorated home. And it was truly "home" when we returned each day from our touring. You couldn't find a better place to stay in DC. Easy walking distance to Eastern Market and other stores, as well as Metro.
Very positive experience with clean, lovely spacious 4 bedrooms and a great living area and kitchen! Overall well maintained!
House was wonderful, clean and very large. Host was gracious and very helpful, prompt and accommodating. We had 9 people ranging in age from 6 to 70. Great house for a family visit. First time in DC for some of us. Great location, safe and easy walking distance to 2 Metros, several parks for children. Grocery store (Harris Teeter) on same street within a few blocks, easy walk. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
We actually rented two houses that were back to back as we have a big family that came to DC to celebrate my moms 80th birthday. Nine brothers and sisters plus grandchildren. Diane was great in helping me understand renting the houses. Lauren was great on answering all of our questions about the area. We had a great family vacation. I would definitely recommend this areas as you are close to everything and the houses are great.
Great walkable location to all major sights for energetic family. Quiet neighborhood and slept 10 comfortably. Home could use some TLC but overall was perfect for our family.
We absolutely LOVED staying at this house. We spent a week here when we came to DC for our daughter's wedding. It was a beautiful and spacious gathering place for our family and friends. The neighborhood felt very safe, and we almost felt secluded in the lovely backyard. The pool was a wonderful bonus. It was in the 80s all week, and we were able to enjoy using it every day after sightseeing. A couple of days, the majority of our time was spent at the pool. The location was great for getting around DC. We used the Circulator Bus (which only costs $1.00) to get to the National Mall. We were a pretty self-sufficient group, so after Lauren gave us the basic info about the house and neighborhood, she left us to enjoy our stay. We would definitely recommend this house for a large group (the 3 and 1/2 baths were a big plus). Thank you for a delightful stay.
