Beauty setting, nice getaway.

  • 4 of 5

Nice spot in a gorgeous area, feels private, not super fancy, but very nice and comfortable. Wildlife everywhere. We literally watched a Moose graze just below us from the deck. Could have reached out and touched him (we did not of course). Fun to have a pool table. As other reviews stated, you just have to be aware that there is no wifi, if that is something you rely on for work, etc.. Also, there are no locks on the upstairs bathrooms, which is a little odd and a bit of a pain when you have a housefull (but maybe I missed how to lock them). Other than that, nice place, beauty location, reasonably priced for the space. cheers!

We thought the property was just as pictured. It was nice. It was clean. It was well stocked.

We got there about 1-1/2 hours before check-in. We got to meet Deann. She was very nice and we waited outside for her to finish her chores. She told me that the light in one bathroom was out and didn't know how to change it. I told her I could do it and did. There were some things that needed attention. There were several lights out in the cabin that didn't work, but if you wiggled them they would come on. We found the remote for the ceiling fan, but the 9 volt battery was dead (Did the standard test by putting it on my tongue). It would have been nice to have some more wood to burn in the fireplace. Deann stated she had some wood and if we needed anything to call her. She gave me her phone number. I called her but it went to voice mail and she never returned my call. I noticed that the screw holding the toilet paper holder in the downstairs bathroom was coming out of the wall. It was held by a sheetrock screw and evidently didn't hit a stud. My wife says that some instructions on how to get to the community garbage station may be helpful. We did have a chance to experience wildlife while there. On our last evening, a young elk came up to the entry door and let everyone get a picture. A little while later, we had a bull moose at the back of the property which then meandered through the yard by the entry door. Then about 10 minutes late a very large cow moose and baby came walking up from the garage area and across the front of the property. As for me, that was the first time I have seen a moose in person. Very impressive. We didn't have much cooperation from the weather. We were on a motorcycle trip with a total of 7 couples. The other three couples stayed at a cabin on Lily Lane. We got rained on everyday. That would normally cause a lot of filth in the cabin. But my personal belief is that you should leave something better than what you found it. On our last night, I think everyone vacuumed their bedrooms. I personally vacuumed the stairs (twice during our stay) and on the last evening. I also vacuumed the downstairs living area and game room. We didn't leave any dishes in the dishwasher. We never missed the Wi-Fi or lack of television. Each evening we just sat around the table and talked. There maybe could have been some wood for the outdoor fire pit but there wasn't. Not sure whether that is something we would have to buy ourselves or what. But overall, we had a good time and it was a good experience.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

This was a great vacation home. The bedrooms were comfy and roomy. The kitchen was well stocked. The TV room downstairs was very relaxing. The pool table was a big hit. The deck's ceiling was home to a tiny little bird and her nest. She tolerated us very well. A good time was had by all!

Not as good as the pictures or what I expected

Hard to get luggage etc. in and out. You have to park on the road and go downhill to the entrance then through the bottom level and up a flight of stairs to get to the main floor. We had a family member come on saturday, we were celebrating our 30th aniversary, he brouht his dog and we went out for dinner to celebrate and he tied his dog outside the home. We were gone 30 minutes when we got a call from the owner saying the neibors were complaining about the dog barking. I told her that we had just ordered dinner and we would be right back as soon as we were done. She said that was not good enough we had to go back right now. My son went back to the house and picked up his dog and drove back home that night which was a 4 hour drive. This upset what started out to be a very special occassion for us and the rest of our family. When my son went back to pick up his dog there were 2 nasty notes left on our vehicle and the front door with very foul language. There are dogs all over that neighborhood and we could here them barking all night. We spent our honeymoon in Grand Lake and have gone back there every year for our aniversary. We are considering not going back.

Owner's Response: Please note: IF you are brining an animal it is your responsibility to make sure its take care of. The god was tied to the tree without barking and disturbing neighbors.

Great location and layout for family vacation.

Great cabin for a large group of people. We enjoyed the porch and the firepit as a family. It was a convenient location to do a lot of different things in Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had such a wonder stay at Megan's cabin. She was so accommodating and had a list of places to try in town. The cabin was beautiful with all the snow but there was more than enough firewood to keep us warm. We will definitely be booking again with her!
