We were introduced to Martha’s Vineyard in the late 1980s, by my former college roommate and current best friend. During our years in college together, she shared many interesting stories about growing up on the Vineyard, and how the Vineyard is an indescribable place worth getting to know. Upon an invitation from my friend to visit during a Memorial Day weekend, my husband and I excitedly drove the 12 plus hours from Virginia to Woodshole, MA. We arrived in New England for the first time, parked our car in the Steamship Authority's Palmer lot, and boarded the ferry, excited to see just what Martha's vineyard had to offer. After this first trip, the Vineyard became our family's most prized vacation spot. We travelled to the vineyard countless times with different groups of couples and friends. As time passed, our friend group become more populated with babies and children, and our vacations become centered around family fun, and we found the Vineyard a perfect place to continue and evolve our traditions. Our children and families have grown up together, vacationing every year in June or July. Martha's Vineyard has acted as a grounding and formative place for the kids in our family, where they look back on our trips with fond memories. These experiences and feeling of fellowship and community is what motivated us to purchase a property on the Martha’s Vineyard. A job relocation moved us from Virginia to New England, and after several years of acclimating to the New England climate (pun intended!), we felt it was the perfect time to make our dream a reality. In November 2014, we completed the purchase of our home, and are eager to share our dreams with renters from across the globe.

We were looking for a home that had a sense of history, great location, and wonderful feel, which is why we settled on this East Chop home located in Oak Bluffs. Our home was built in 1900, and has been renovated, but still possesses the character and style of many of the classic homes in Oak Bluffs. It has the right amount of space to house enough family and friends to have fun and produce fond memories with. Location wise, privacy is key, and this home, the backyard, and its location in the neighborhood gives us just that. However, we did not want to be too secluded. So, because the house is in walking distance to Circuit Avenue and the local beaches and parks, it allows us to branch out and socialize whenever we desire. Our home is the perfect combination of solitude and tranquility with its location in the neighborhood, while also being in the heart of the beach, town, and all the fun.
The cottage is a short walk or bike ride to many desirable destinations (town, beach, park, shops, restaurants), with easy access to the town transportation (bus system). The home is on a corner lot and surrounded by trees, with room for tons of family, friends, and fun. We have a lovely wrap around porch that is covered and a patio, with outdoor furnishings that will allow for meals, fellowship, and relaxation.
Just a 10 minute walk to the heart of oak bluffs where you will find beaches, shops, restaurants, marina, arcades, and all the things that one should think should expect during a seaside vacation.
