This classic lake cottage has been in our family for years and enjoyed by the family. All five children who grew up in the family spent their summers here on the shores of Seneca Lake, playing with our "summer families" up and down the beach.
Mary purchased this Cottage in 1952
Why Mary chose Lodi
Our cousins live right next door and we grew up together here each summer
What makes this Cottage unique
Listening to the laves lap on the shore as you fall asleep is an amazing way to relax your mind and body!

Comfortable cottage great value
Once we figured out the best lines on the wagon trail down from the main road our comfort level was elevated. It really isn't that bad once you've done it a few times but initially it is somewhat surprising. The cottage is very nice and reminded us all of the cottages from the 50s and 60s. It's an older lake cottage after all but somewhat updated. The wifi worked quite well. Didn't watch tv though it appears to be an internet connection through dsl I guess. Beds all seemed to be comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. My bed was very comfortable. A hotel room would have cost more and all it has is four walls. This cottage is a great value and I would recommend it.
Thanks Don -- So glad you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate that you enjoyed the vintage feel (and the updated aspects) of our lake home. The road is a single-lane, dirt road -- congrats for getting comfortable with it. Hope to see you again, you were a great guest.
Quaint and relaxing
The cottage was comfortable and well supplied. The weekend was cold but the cottage remained cozy for the 4 of us. The view was great as we sat outside and watched the waves lap up on the shore. The area was peaceful. The only glitch was the long, steep road down to the lake.
Wonderful location, amazing views
My family had a wonderful week at the Guthrie house! There were definitely some pros and cons to this property...
-The yard and dock were really awesome. The yard is nice and flat (which isn't always the case on the lake!) and the dock allowed for nice views and easy floating.
-The kayaks were awesome to have on site
-The main living space is much larger than it appears in the pictures. It's a nice open space where you can relax if the weather isn't cooperating. We didn't use the TV, so I can't really speak to that.
-The kitchen was in decent shape, we were able to cook everything we needed with plenty of space.
- Close to so many vineyards! it's a hike up the hill (we were prepared), but once you're up there, you can hit many spots very quickly.
- For us this was a pro, but there was a lot of shade so we didn't have to worry about our little ones getting sun burn.
-We were expecting a gas grill and unfortunately were met with a charcoal grill
-The homes in the neighborhood are VERY close to each other. We sort of knew this going in, but there was definitely a lot of interaction with the neighbors. Again, they were very nice, but it was a bit more than we were expecting.
- The windows open weirdly in the two double bed rooms, so it's a little tricky to get a fan in the window in one of the rooms and impossible in the other. So the bedrooms did get quite hot (even with cooler nights).
Overall, we did have a great week. The house was a great little spot to enjoy the lake and spend some quality family time!
Cute cottage in the perfect location!
The cottage was everything advertised and more. We were impressed with the roominess and modern appliances in the cottage. The outdoor area was beautiful and serene. The kayaks and paddleboat were an added bonus!
Thanks so much for staying with us. Glad you enjoyed yourselves and were comfortable!
Great little cottage. Beautiful scenery surrounds you. Mary provides a well stocked cottage. Even leaves you firewood! The mattresses need replaced but I loved the old fashioned feel of the cottage. The bathroom is spacous and was spotless. The cottage is just steps to the lake. We spent so much time on the dock We had a great time just sitting under the canopy of trees in the yard. Very relaxing!
Thanks Laurel -- we are so glad you had a great time. Working on that mattress issue. We will have them replaced in a few weeks for the season.
Glad you could share the fun of being at the lake.
Very nice place. Tough road.
Very spacious cottage with an easy walk to the lake. My two kids, ages 10 and 13, were able to make the most of the amenities. There was just one thing that prevented a five-star rating; Lamoreaux Point Road was a white-knuckle ride with many ruts and potholes, and a few steep hills. However, after a couple of times, the road did seem less onerous. The road aside, this cottage is highly recommended.
Perfect home base for enjoying the Seneca Lake wine trail, hiking trails and waterfalls.
