This secluded cabin is heaven for (almost) everyone...
It will be heaven for you and your significant other if you want to get away from it all (incl. the kids - don't forget grandma's long-standing offer ;- ). Spend some quality time together. Go hiking in woodsy Mi-Wuk or in the Emigrant Wilderness - the number of trails is unlimited. Explore Sonora's colorful Farmer's Market. Go wine-tasting in Murphys. Visit Yosemite, which is only 1.5 hours away, but spend the night away from the crowds. Or just relax at your new-found home which with its abundance of light and incredible views over cedar and pine trees just exudes peace and tranquility. You really can't find a more romantic getaway!
The cabin can also be heaven for you and your kids. You can go swimming at Pinecrest Lake (free, no membership required), river rafting, skiing at Dodge Ridge, sledding, or ice skating in nearby Long Barn. And there is fast and reliable WiFi, cable TV and a DVD player for when you come home after an activity-packed day and just want to chill.
It can be your own personal retreat if you feel the need to unwind and decompress. When was the last time you were alone? Go hiking, read a book, listen to music and your own thoughts - experience the power of solitude and come home to your family entirely refreshed.
The cabin is definitely for everyone in San Francisco who wants to escape the eternal summer fog, see some blue skies instead of layers and layers of grey clouds, and soak up the rejuvenating sun. Yes, there is a real California out there - and it's less than three hours from the city and the trip is shorter and definitely more relaxing than driving to Lake Tahoe.
A note of warning though before you get too carried away and start daydreaming about booking a weekend in this little piece of paradise. You may not want to bring your teenaged children! Mi-Wuk is not South Tahoe, Sonora is not San Francisco. Our son loved coming with us to this area until he was 16 when all of a sudden computer games and Facebook became all-consuming and "nature" was just a big bore. I give him 10 years until he realizes the foolishness of his ways but right now he has different priorities. And the same may be true for your kids...
What our son is missing is a two-floor cabin that with its 1300 sq. ft. feels cozy yet spacious. The main floor has cathedral ceilings, a kitchen that is stocked with everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal, a dining area seating six and a bathroom with shower and tub. There is a washer and dryer and we provide you with plenty of linen and towels.
In the open living room you can enjoy the cozy comfort of a wood-burning stove (wood provided). There are two sofas which turn into comfortable beds. A sliding door leads out to a large wrap-around deck where you can always find a sunny spot and enjoy the sunset over a glass of a local wine.
A queen-size bed is in the spacious loft. Wake up to the chirping birds or the gentle sounds of the stream running through the property. This really is heaven and you are more than welcome!
My boyfriend and I had such a great experience, thank you Peter! We were so impressed that everything we could need was already there, we could tell Peter put a lot of thought into his guests comfort. The cabin is so cute, and we loved waking up in such a beautiful area. The trees and fresh air are practically magical. We will definitely be back!!
My husband and I had a very relaxing weekend at Peter's home. The house is spacious, clean and well equipped. It has fast WiFi, so even though we could be reception free exploring all day, we were able to reconnect at the house at night. The house had everything we could have needed for the long weekend. I would love to return to stay again!
Such a beautiful and pieceful place, we enjoyed every minute in the cabin! Thank you Peter, we'll be back!
We can see why Peter has received 5 stars from everyone! This was the perfect place for my husband and me to get away and relax. Everything you could possibly need was thought of and provided. Although this cabin is in a neighborhood, you can't see your neighbors unless you're at street level. We took walks through the peaceful area and spent one day at Kennedy Meadows. You might notice there are no pictures of the bathroom. No need to worry! The bathroom was VERY spacious with everything you'd need. Peter has literally thought of everything, was quick to respond to any and all questions and wonderful to work with. We will definitely be back!!!
Peter was a great host and the cabin was very well provisioned, including directions for everything we could have possibly needed and suggestions for local hiking and activities. Although there are other cabins nearby, ours still felt secluded. We enjoyed hiking from 5 minutes up the road and relaxing by the wood stove. I would definitely stay here again!
Awesome place, clean well maintained. About 2 miles off the main road. 10 miles from Pinecrest Lake.
Price was right, will go back in the fall to go fishing.
Restaurant at Pine crest lake was awesome and a lady at the ski slopes recommended the burger joint in Mi Wuk on the main road across from the steak house, I think Andy's was recommended. We ran out of time to check it out.
