Overview

About the property

One Bedroom, One Bathroom Cottage That Sleep 2 Adults And 2 Children.

Welcome to our quaint lakefront cottage, located less than one hour from Grand Rapids, Michigan this cottage will make you feel a million miles from the city! Situated on the beautiful all sports Clifford Lake, this property has 72 feet of private lake frontage. A perfect getaway for a small family, or empty nesters, our one bedroom, one bathroom abode has a queen bed in the bedroom. The best part about the cottage is there are NO close neighbors, conveniently located adjacent to the public boat launch we are surrounded on the east by woods and to the west there are 3 vacant lots. Have your morning coffee on the deck and not have to worry about being bothered by “typical” cottage neighbors.

The property is fully furnished with everything a rustic lakefront home requires, including complete kitchen, T.V., DVD player, paddle boat, canoe, dock, gas grill, picnic table, lounge chairs, lawn games and much more, although there is no A/C we usually have a nice breeze off the lake. Guests are more than welcome to bring their own watercraft and dock them at the lakeside.

Clifford Lake is the premier lake in Montcalm county, boasting over 200 acres of pristine water, this all-sports lake has everything; excellent fishing, great boating, jet skiing, and other water sports, the lake also boasts the unique feature of having a wonderful restaurant right on the lake. The Clifford Lake Inn has a history that dates back over 100 years and offers a unique lakeside dining experience. During the week the lake has minimal traffic and on the weekends there is only moderate boat traffic, but plenty of lake for all to enjoy. Another wonderful thing about the location of Clifford Lake is that it is within 5 minutes of 3 other large all sports lakes. This is the perfect location for a week of boating or fishing on multiple lakes with ease (if you bring your own boat). There are more lakes in Montcalm county than any other county in the state of Michigan. This area also is well known for the "Fred Meijer Heartland Trail", a unique and wonderful paved, walking, running and biking trail that is over 125 miles long and all of it locally, is paved. Please ask any questions you may have, we'd be happy to have you!

About Gabe & Jessica

The cottage is owned by husband and wife, Gabe and Jessica. They bought the cottage for themselves and decided to offer it for rent during the times they are not there. They love the quiet and peaceful retreat of the cottage and enjoy spending their free time here.

Why Gabe & Jessica chose Western Michigan

We bought this property for its size and location, we wanted a small and manageable cottage that we could someday add on to. The location was the selling point for us as there are NO CLOSE NEIGHBORS, something you don't find on lakes.

What makes this cottage unique

The property boasts some unique wildlife and features, we have seen deer, rabbits, squirrels and other creatures right out the front door, there is a wetland type area across the road that has frogs, turtles and other animals. The best part about Clifford lake is the restaurant that sits right on the lake so you can dine lakeside if you want. We love it here and know you will too.

SERENE, COZY AND WORTH THE TRIP!!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week at the Cozy Clifford Lake waterfront Cottage, I would like to say that we went for a joyous occasion, we were actually there to reflect on the loss of our son. We wanted something peaceful and serene, and this was the perfect spot. We loved this cottage, even though it rained the entire week we were there, it was okay, the rain kind of fit with our hearts. I would recommend the cottage to anyone. It gives you your very own private lake at your doorstep. I was hoping to be able to fish off the dock but the water was way to shallow, and the rain prevented it, but if you have better weather, they provide you with a canoe and a paddle boat. A hammock a picnic table a fire pit and a very nice grill, we we loved the view from the sitting room, The owners were very easy to work with as well, regardless of not being able to use the majority of all the outdoor activities, we still loved it.

Relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed my stay at this cottage, it was very charming. It was very clean and well maintained. The secluded location was an added bonus, no close neighbors! The sky over the lake was so beautiful and I was lucky enough to see the Northern Lights during my stay here! If you are looking for a peaceful escape from the everyday grind, this is the place. The Clifford Lake Inn had great food and it was very close to the cottage. Also the town of Stanton is quaint with some nice shops such as a bookstore and several antique stores. Definitely worth checking out! Overall, I would recommend staying here and would stay here again.

Great weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I had been looking forward to this weekend for quite a while and I was not disappointed. The cottage was very neat, clean and comfortable, exactly as it was described. It has everything you'd need for a great weekend. Not to mention how clean, clear and relaxing the lake was. Had dinner at Clifford Lake Inn and it was excellent and very reasonable. Overall this cottage is a great value and I'm looking forward to a return trip.

Good time to detox from the everyday grind

  • 4 of 5

Chuck and I did enjoy our stay at your cottage. It was quiet but lots to watch as three planes landed and took off after having dinner at the Clifford Lake Inn. Chuck and I are not water people, in other words we would rather stay on shore and watch the activity of tubers, water skiers and fisherman from the shore while dangling out feet in the water. It was enjoyable for us to be away from the phone, computer and everyday duties.

Relaxing lakefront retreat

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Clifford Lake house. My husband I stayed for a long weekend. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and in the hammock, making a fire in the backyard, having fun in the water, and playing games. We went out in the paddleboat and had a blast. There is also a nice sandy beach bottom next to the house good for swimming and wading. My husband found turtles, frogs, and even a crayfish! Inside the house was as comfortable as it was outside. It was clean, with several cozy places to sit and a nice big table for games. The house has no immediate neighbors, so there is plenty of privacy. It is an all sports lake, and the boat launch is next door, so we could occasionally hear louder boats... but this never bothered us, and we actually loved watching the boats out on the lake. The sunsets were fabulous. We would highly recommend.

Relax and enjoy

  • 5 of 5

The property is in a great location, just as described very private. The lake is not very busy even on Saturday there were only a few boats out. There are tons of activities provided by the owners my kids loved paddle boating and fishing. The fishing was awesome -

The kids literally just dropped their line in and came back with a fish!! Our family of 4 had a great time - our kids are 7 & 4 and the owners had the property stocked with everything we could need even a first aid kit! None of us wanted to leave! Great stay!!
