Overview

Point Lookout House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 9-11)

Savor dramatic penthouse views in your own private beach house. This light-filled four-story house offers the best in outdoor luxury living. Surrounded by glass and balconies on every level, Kentigern provides bedrooms with private balconies and great gathering spaces, all in one home. Enjoy the fun of your group and then retreat to your own space. Fall asleep to the sound of waves in the background. Wake up to fabulous sunrises over the Chesapeake Bay. This is a house you won’t want to leave.

Kentigern is sited on its own 2 acre sandy lot with a beach at the south end. For the adventurer, 2 kayaks on premise are provided for guest use. Kayak directly on the Chesapeake Bay or in the quiet solitude of one of the creeks where you and the herons may be the only guests. This house is an away destination: Herons are joined by osprey, bald eagles, pelicans and the occasional dolphin or two.

Scotland is steeped in history, too. St. Mary’s City, 10 miles away, is the original capital of Maryland. The area dates back to the 1600s and was one of the early colonies. Only 80 miles away is the nation’s capital, Washington, DC – if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful beach setting. Point Lookout Park, a Civil War POW camp and now a large park and campground, is only a short bike ride away. Nestled between the Bay and the Potomac River, the Park is worth an expedition.

Return to Kentigern again and again.

Perfect vacation

There is so much that this property offers - lovely views from every bedroom and the living room area, nice beach, bikes, fire pit, fishing and kayaking. We all enjoyed it so much.

Perfectly located

It's too bad that you can't upload pictures as part of the review on VRBO because there are several great sunrise pictures that we took during our stay here. The view was as good as you could possibly get. We were lucky enough to rent the property for the week of our anniversary and even luckier to have great weather the entire stay. Also, there weren't many other renters in the surrounding properties so we had the beach to ourselves every day. This was great because it gave our Golden Retriever lots of uninterrupted play and swim time. This was her first time swimming in open water and she absolutely loved it. I even got her to go kayaking with me for the first time. For the time we were there the water was very calm for all but one day so it was great for swimming.

The house itself is definitely the nicest property we ever rented. Just about every room looked as if it had been featured in Pottery Barn. Plus, every bedroom had a great view of the water - even the master bathroom. The elevator was a huge plus for us because our dog was too scared to go up the stairs. We think she didn't like them because there was no backing between each step, just open space (think spiral staircase). The master bed was extremely comfy - not too soft and not too firm. The balconies were a great place to relax and feel the breeze any time of day. This house was very well thought out when being built. It really does take full advantage of its location next to the water. It was also nice to have a little fire pit in front of the house along with a picnic table. Everything we needed was provided as far as TP, soap, shampoo, towels, cookware, utensils etc. The one thing I would make note of for near future guests is the condition of the cookware. All of the non stick pots & pans were peeling to the point of being unusable. We made do with that since it was just two of us but it may be an issue if there is a bigger family and they plan on cooking more to save some money on food. This was not a big deal considering how great everything else about the property is.

All in all we had a wonderful time here. We loved every minute of it so much we rarely left the property. We highly recommend this rental for anyone. Peggy was easy to deal with and was quick to take care of any minor issues that came up. We hope that we can rent another property from her at some point down the road. Don't pass up on this stunning property if you have the opportunity to rent it.

Pictures do not do this property justice! Such a fantastic place, perfect for family/group gatherings. No detail has been missed and the views are absolutely amazing. I have rented from Peggy before and would highly recommend her. Her customer service is on-point. Looking forward to future visits! Thank you for sharing this property :)

Beautiful views & so much more

  • 5 of 5

4 generations in our group (my parents, my husband & I, our kids & a spouse, & their kids). House even more beautiful than the pictures showed, if that's possible! Phenomenal views from every floor. Lots of very comfortable couches & chairs in the great room with various seating areas for different groups. Can all talk together or be doing different activities without being cut off from each other. Small office/desk area was cool & used by computer user frequently. Layout of decks allowed you to move to different areas based on breeze & sun (to avoid or soak up). Cooked 4 dinners in for 7 adults & had all the needed equipment to do so. The beach has very soft sand & was so close you could just pop out there for a brief walk, or hang out for hours. Saw the resident ospreys every day. Saw them catch and eat (in the pine tree next to house) 2 fish. Egrets, Great Blue Herons, and a Green Heron (way pretty) also seen. There's also a very elusive otter in the pond! Thought was a musk rat at first but definitely was an otter (no vertical boat tail like muskrat) saw it twice. Enjoyed every minute, even first couple of rainy, cold days, because just hanging out in this house is a vacation! Bring extra baby gate if have little ones. Can then block the stair well sides with one or two. This worked very well. Highly recommend & really hope to be able to return for another week next year. My husband & I kayaked for first time & loved it! I'm hooked. Elevator was a god-send for mobility limited member of group. Memory foam mattress toppers were great. Thank you for a wonderful time!
