Are you overdue for some rest and relaxation? Is it time to get away from the stress and pressures of everyday living? Step into a place where you can find the serenity that only the closeness to nature can provide. Our Hideout log cabin is located in the shadows of beautiful Rich Mountain. Woods alive with the sounds of songbirds surround you. Hiking trails that include wildflowers and wildlife are just minutes outside your door. Enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee and a good book in your rocking chair on the front porch. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and lots of fun activities are just a close drive away, but most of our guests say the favorite part of their visit is the 'home away from home' experience they get right at the Hideout. The cabin has cable and Wi-Fi along with the DVR feature in case you don't want to miss your favorite team's games.

About Melody Gilbertson

My mom and I have been running our cabin rentals for several years. We do our own cleaning and like to meet our guests personally. The income from the cabin has enabled me to be a stay at home mom when my girls were little, and I pray that our guests are blessed by experiencing a little piece of heaven here in peaceful Townsend!

Why Melody Gilbertson chose Townsend

Townsend is my hometown and is the most beautiful place in the world! My parents encouraged me to buy the property and build the Hideout before I got married and started a family, and boy am I glad they did! I was able to bring my daughters with me to clean the cabin and still be a stay-at-home mom! I will forever be grateful for those years. God has blessed us with the Hideout and we pray it's a blessing to all of our guests.

Great cabin, great location, great amenities

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cabin for a few days while visiting Great Smoky Mountains National Park and it was the best place we stayed on our family vacation. The location is very close to the Townsend entrance of the park, but is in a quiet area north of Cades Cove that is not bustling with tourists. The cabin itself is extremely clean, well-maintained, and inviting. Everything they said would be included was there, including towels, linens (and extra linens), paper towels, coffee filters, etc. In addition there were several extra amenities that were there, either provided by the hosts or left by prior guests, that made the experience even more comfortable. There are two bedrooms with full beds plus a large living area with two futons and a generous sized kitchen, so for a family of four it felt like a luxurious amount of space. Good cellphone reception and also free wifi. Checking in and out was very easy and our kids even got visited by two friendly dogs who I assume live with the owners at their house adjacent (but not too close) to the cabin. Overall it was a very positive experience, a good value for the price we paid, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area and have a peaceful place to rest and relax.

Quiet and Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed a week, enjoyed every moment! Loved the peace and quiet. The cabin is roomy, comfortable and super clean. Location was perfect for all of our day trips in Townsend, Maryville areas as well as the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The fall leaves were AMAZING! A perfect home away from home!

Cozy Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks for an awesome weekend. Melody was very helpful with providing details on arriving/departing. She provided ideas on things to do in the Townsend area and even called us day of to say we could arrive early. The house is very cozy! Fireplace is great! We will definitely be returning for stays in the future!!

More than adequate ☆

Clean, quiet and off the beaten path. Good internet, cable and jacuzzi tub. Could use an update on the shower head, but if that is my only "tiny" issue, I'm well satisfied.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for choosing to stay at our Hideout cabin! We’re glad you enjoyed the amenities. That’s a great suggestion of an updated shower head. That’s an easy fix that I know others willl appreciate! I already ordered one and should have it replaced by this weekend! 😊 We hope you will be able to come again soon! Thanks again, Tahnee Jones & Melody Gilbertson

Amazing and tucked away from the crowds

  • 5 of 5

Our family of three absolutely loved this place. Just the right size that everyone had an area to retreat to. The kitchen table was the perfect size for game playing in the evening. Porch was nice for breakfast & reading in the morning. The beds were both very comfortable. We would definitely come back and stay again.

Cozy, quaint, clean

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed in “The Hideout” cabin and thoroughly enjoyed it. Check in/out was super easy, the location is close to the Smokies, town stores and restaurants, yet it is back in the foothills just enough to make you feel like you’re away from it all. The cabin itself was incredibly fresh and clean with plenty of room and all the amenities of home! Thanks for making your little piece of heaven available to us!
