Chappaquiddick is one of the most private areas on Martha's Vineyard but also close to Edgartown. Great for families or anyone looking to unwind with a waterfront view.
A rental car is recommended, although it is only a short bike ride to Edgartown.

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA and Long Island, we have lived in Washington DC for the past 40 years and have been summering in the Vineyard for the past 20 years.
Justin Lott, Tom Lott purchased this house in 1999
There are very few properties on Martha's Vineyard that are this secluded, available for rental, on the water, and enjoy a refreshing southwest breeze...especially in this price range given the ready access to Edgartown.
Up on a bluff, visitors enjoy a 180 degree view of the pond, spectacular sunsets and wetlands views. Visitors also enjoy private access to the Caleb's Pond that feeds into Edgartown harbor. Thus the pond is tidal, very clean, and a popular spots for clamming (hence the name "Clamalot), for those who have access.
Wonderful experience for family with daughter, son-in-law, and 2 grandsons.
Overlooking Caleb Pond. Beautiful sunsets.
Access to private beach and East Beach.
Nice ocean breezes.
The layout, furnishings, and amenities of this rental provide an ideal environment for a tranquil family get away. The location provides a quick bike ride or walk to a private beach and ferry to Edgartown. The master bedrooms are large and spaced for privacy. One of the best features is the wraparound deck, which allows for watching stunning sunrises and sunsets or dinner with a view. Our stay was in August, so we rarely needed to use fans due to the cross ventilation.
I have been coming to the Vineyard for many years, including several previous years on Chappaquiddick. This property is a stand-out.
This is more than a building or even a setting. It helped our family enjoy our experience with nature and together with each other. Vacations are personal, but for us it was what we wanted.
The master bedrooms were very large, and the living areas provided lots of room for family members of different ages to do as they wished. The kitchen was fully-equipped. The details in the listing were as described and in excellent condition. Inside looking out, the views were varied and magnificent from the many windows throughout the house. The responsive owners were a pleasure to deal with.
The experience: it all began with the mornings, and the quiet of the still pond. With the deck, we could watch with our morning coffee as the large family of ducks made their leisurely across toward the inner harbor. Throughout the day, when we would come and return, the dramatic view changed with the light, joined in the evening by a gentle breeze. There was nature at peace, and we felt part of it.
With Mytoi, Cape Poge, the Trustees tours, Wasque, the farm, the bikes and the other wonders and activities right at hand, we experienced the enjoyment, once again, that was amazement to our visiting friends for their first time. Edgartown, with favorites like Mad Martha’s at night for ice cream, were just across the ferry.
I could go on, but it is enough to say I would highly recommend the house to friends, it was very special, and we hope to return next summer.
