About Erin & Josh
We are a family of 4 with 2 small children. We hope you enjoy our property as much as we do - we know it is our favorite place to make memories and we're sure you will feel the same!
Erin & Josh purchased this House in 2015
Why Erin & Josh chose Tahoe City
We have spent our whole life vacationing or living in Tahoe and we wanted our kids to have a place to get away. The key to Tahoe in the summer is having access to the Lake and Tahoe Park, which has a private homeowners beach (which comes free with the home) with two piers, tons of grass, playgrounds, basketball courts, horseshoes, BBQs and picnic tables. You can access hiking, biking and many other great activities right out your front door. The kids will love catching crawdads on the pier while you read at the beach! You are walking distance to everything you need for a few days and only a couple of miles from town for anything bigger you may need.
What makes this House unique
We chose this house in this neighborhood for several reasons. The lot is completely flat and the few blocks around us offer some great room for kids to ride bikes or run around. We love sitting on the front porch in the morning drinking tea and reading the paper. At night we sit on the back porch and enjoy a barbecued dinner while the kids cook smores at the fire-pit. In the winter, the large stone fireplace provides warmth for domino games, movie nights, or just snuggling up with a cup of hot chocolate or a glass of wine.

This house is perfect for 4-6 people. We had our 2 teenage kids with us, who enjoyed having their own rooms. First floor bedroom is small (my husband is 6'4") but doable. Overall, the house is super clean, decor is updated, and the vibe is very cozy. Backyard and hot tub were perfect. You can tell the owners put alot of love into this home. On that note, the hosts were great. Very responsive, and check-in intructions were simple and hassle free (can't say the same for all hosts, we VRBO alot). The house is in a cozy wooded neighborhood right down the road from Tahoe City, with a 5 minute walk to private beach access in a cool gated park,
and the fab West Shore market. The private beach access is a HUGE plus. I would never recommend anyone go to Tahoe in the summer without private access to the water or a plan for avoiding the crowded main beaches. Also, West shore is the best of Tahoe. Central to everything and low key (easy access to lots of ski options in the winter, which is why I love it the most :). You can head south to Homewood for super chill dining, or hit Tahoe City in 5 minutes. Bliss Park is an easy drive South (avoids all traffic in Tahoe City and Kings) and our fave spot for amazing hiking, and it has a perfect beach that is much more chill and less crowded than bigger beaches. Rent a boat in Homewood!
Good location but unlikely to stay again.
Nice location within walking distance to lake, Sunnyside, and HOA beach/playground. House was cute but came with a few cons - especially if you are traveling with little ones...
The home is very small, and it was a tight squeeze for a family of 4. More specifically, the bedrooms are tiny. I rented a crib for my 2 year old, but unfortunately only one of the three bedrooms could actually accommodate the crib: the master bedroom.
The house was clean, but it could use a little TLC from a handyman. One of the downstairs windows had a crack in it that ran the entire length of the window, and it was held in place with masking tape. There was also a large, gaping hole in the closet door of the downstairs bedroom.
Overall the home wasn’t as well stocked as I would have expected - no body wash, one roll of paper towels for a 5 day stay, one garbage bag, and I was unable to locate any laundry detergent. When I asked the owner where I might find some, she said they must have just ran out and suggested I take a walk to the market to purchase some. Disappointing response. Luckily I did eventually stumble upon a few pods of detergent in the laundry room.
Lastly, we really enjoyed the backyard. We loved using the hot tub and having a grassy area for the kids to play. If you have a toddler, keep in mind that there is no gate on one side, and your child can easily access the front yard and street. I had to chase my 2 year old down a few times - a small gate between the laundry room and shed would have been a huge plus!
Great West Shore Cabin
This is our 4th or 5th time staying here. It is a really cute family cabin in a great location on the West Shore! You are walking distance to Sunnyside and West Shore Market and have access to Tahoe Park where you can enjoy their BBQ's and picnic tables, playground, the beach, etc. The owners are super easy to work with and always are quick to help if any problems arise. We love it!
Perfect spot for a quick weekend getaway
We had 6 people staying and had plenty of room. The kitchen was great and we loved the gas fireplace and spacious hot tub. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!
Great amenities for a small group!
Recently stayed here as a group of 5—it was amazing to find an option with a private hot tub and 3 actual bedrooms at this price point! Location was great for Squaw / Alpine and Homewood. The house was clean and kitchen was reasonably stocked / up to date. Bedrooms were comfortable, and the living room was super cozy with the fire. We had a wonderful stay!
Great winter or summer cabin near the lake
We had a lovely stay at Erin & Josh's Tahoe City home. It was spacious, well-decorated, and the beds were super comfy. Showers were wonderful as well! Drove to Squaw & Alpine each day, and had clear communication from the hosts when we checked in about the snow levels. Would definitely stay again, either later this ski season or over the summer when we can take advantage of the Tahoe Park Homes Association area.
Lake Tahoe is an absolutely beautiful area with many things to do. Whether you love to ski, hike, bike, fish, swim or just relax on a chair with a glass of wine and a book, the Tahoe Park area on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe will not disappoint.
