Relax and Unwind Lake Lure Lakefront

The Hardigree Lake House is a one-of-a-kind home perfect for a family vacation or romantic getaway (sorry, no four-legged guests allowed). Perched at the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains overlooking lovely Lake Lure with lake frontage, this focus of this home is enjoying the lake and the beauty of the mountains.

It offers a unique beach area that is shallow and gradually increases in depth. Few Lake Lure homes have such an enticing amenity. It is perfect for wading and for children to splash around.

Just imagine fishing from the dock (license required) or just sitting and dangling your feet in the water. If you are looking for a little more activity, enjoy the kayaks, pedal boat (seats 4), and canoe. Bring your own boat to tie to the dock (be sure to review the Town of Lake Lure boating regulations) for even more lake adventures. Inside the boat house is a game room for the young or young-at-heart to enjoy.

If you want to enjoy the beauty of the area on land, you can step onto the upstairs porch to greet the morning with your tea or coffee. Relax on the hammock, deck chairs, or chaise lounge.

The screened porch calls for an evening of relaxation and soothing breezes or a great place to have lunch or supper. You can even enjoy the panoramic views from this spot and from every room in the home. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking, as are the layered mountain vistas. Plus, the home is just 7 miles from the Beach at Lake Lure, 8.4 miles to Chimney Rock State Park, and 18.7 miles to the TIEC (Tryon International Equestrian Center).

Charm and Comfort Await You Indoors

This home was built about 5 years ago (on an existing foundation) to resemble a quaint lake cottage. Every room offers comfort and the eclectic décor is charming and playful. The nice finishes and unusual uses of the vintage and antique items, as well as those specific to Lake Lure, make the home inviting and very special. It is obvious that every piece and finish in this home was selected with care.

Main Level Gathering

As soon as you enter, you will see the owners left their personal touch everywhere, even above the entry with a personal greeting that is truly fitting of this area:

It is here, where mist touches peak and lake rises to greet

To the left of the entrance door is the cozy living area. In addition to the comfortable sofas (queen sleeper sofa coming soon), there is a flat-screen TV, modern table, and vintage trunks. The ceiling fans are new but have a vintage feel with their caged lights.

Past the living area is the combined kitchen/dining area. The kitchen island has a distressed base and vintage-looking leg spindles that support the island's breakfast bar. The breakfast bar seats 4 and the stools are cleverly painted red and white to resemble life preservers. Above the island is a vintage metal basket that was converted to a light fixture with 3 Edison lights.

Beyond the island are the kitchen fixtures. There is a vintage-look high-back farm sink beside contemporary stainless steel appliances and traditional cabinetry. Another highlight of the kitchen is the vintage-looking cabinet with glass doors and small spice drawers above the electric smooth-top range.

To the left of the island, against the wall of lakeside windows, is a table for 5 or 6 (depending how many can sit comfortably on the bench seat). Above it is a hanging light with a glass globe that would have been found in an old schoolhouse. With the main level open floor plan and numerous windows, you can enjoy the views from every angle as well as each other's company.

If you walk in straight through the door, past the small hall that leads to the lower level stairs, is a bookcase with a round brass mirror above it that is reminiscent of a ship porthole with an eagle at the top. It looks as though it belonged in a ship captain's quarters. Past the bookcase is the door to the full bath. Here you will find a contemporary vanity, sink, and faucet with a mirror with an early-American look. The walk-in shower has beautiful glass doors and unique stone and wood-like tiles.

Just past the bathroom is a bedroom with a queen bed, windows on two walls, a bureau, and vintage tables and pictures. The rest of the home follows this mix of contemporary, vintage and unique; and the homeowners made it all work together beautifully for your comfort and enjoyment.

Lower Level Relaxation

Turn right at the entry door and there is a little nook with a rocking chair and a wall sconce that matches the round port-hole mirror. It resembles an electrified wall-mounted brass oil lamp. The stairs, with wood handrail and metal spindles, lead to the lower level that has three bedrooms and a full bath.

There is a bedroom with a queen bed and another with a twin and a full bed. Each boasts 3 large windows and wonderful lake views. The lower level master bedroom has a king bed, TV, and a private deck with a bistro table and chairs. There is even a Keurig station in the bedroom so you can grab your morning coffee and head out to breathe in the fresh lake air. The 3-piece full bath on this level has a contemporary vanity, sink, faucet, and mirror along with a bathtub/shower combination.

Perfect Every Season

Spend time at The Hardigree Lake House any time of the year, for the lake fun, beauty of the area, and relaxed comfort of the home. With the temperate climate, the lake can be enjoyed year round. The area is lovely in the spring when everything is just beginning to bloom. Imagine canoeing on the lake in autumn when with the breathtaking red and gold hues. In winter, with the absence of leaves on the trees, you will see an entirely new view. In summer, the weather is perfect nearly every day.

We loved our lake vacation

  • 5 of 5

Amazing views, great home.

Lots of extra touches, great decor, nice kitchen, very nice beds and of course the decks & lake are well worth the visit!!!!

Due to reviews, I brought sheets & bath towels.

Much needed!!!! There are not nearly enough for the amount of people the home sleeps.

I'd ask for some larger trash cans as well. There are only two very very small trash cans in the kitchen and they fill up constantly when you have a large group.

Our family would recommend The Hardigree House, simply floating on the lake, checking out the family of turtles & ducks is enough to make amazing memories!

Thank you for offering your home for others to make memories in!

Beautifully decorated, with great attention to details.Well stocked. Only drawback, 6 sets of stairs

  • 4 of 5

Weekend away with friends in this cozy home in beautiful lake setting. This home was beautifully decorated. Just my style. Everyone in our party loved it. Quiet neighborhood, easy access to boat rental and grocery store. My only drawback for anyone older staying in the home is the amount of stairs. 6 flights total from road to lake. Hope we can stay again in the future. Eight 50something year old friends continuing to make new memories. Highly recommend the Linder House.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay!! We've decided you don't need a gym membership if you live in Lake Lure... the stairs will take care of you :) So many homes in the and around the lake have dozens of stairs and we agree that it can be a bit much if you're not used to it. We hope to see you again, either at this home or one of the others we have available. Take care.

Big but cozy, best view on the lake!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful lake house with lots of character. Right on the lake with the most beautiful view of the mountain and trees across the water. Worth waking up for the sunrises. The canoe/kayak provided were great fun to take out on the lake. It's also not as far from the main part of town as it seems on a map. 15 minutes to Chimney Rock and just an hour to Asheville. Was the perfect setting for a surprise proposal and family gathering, would love to come back again.

The only thing lacking was enough towels, tp, etc. For a house that sleeps eight, there were only supplies for two people. FYI, cell signal is weak in the area and the WiFi was slow/spotty. There are DVD players but no DVDs so make sure to bring some for entertainment. Regardless, great property and great location.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words and taking the time to write a review! Not sure what happened to the linens or if they were put away in a different or strange location, but regardless we are so sorry for the inconvenience this must have caused. Lake Lure is beautiful, we are so happy you enjoyed your time here and we would love to have you stay with us again :) This home has 16 towels, 16 hand towels and wash clothes too. I will be sure they are more readily available in the future. Our apologies :(

House has Amazing water views and a great floor plan. Loved the beach area. House was kept up well and charming. Only negative was all the stairs to get from the house to the water. Not ideal for families traveling with seniors or small kids.
