quiet location, comfortable cottage, great view!

  • 5 of 5

rental process was easy, cottage was clean and comfortable on arrival, had all we needed except had to get coffee and was only supplied with small amt toilet paper- we have stayed at many vrbo's all over and have always had the basics supplied, esp since you are only there a short time, and it was frustrating to have to make a run to the store shortly after we arrived. otherwise it was great, the view from the porch was lovely, we enjoyed the quiet. had a great meal at SIPS, Sawyers Mkt was a fun find, also had a lovely meal at Asticou Inn. Also walked to Beal's for a nice seafood dinner. We also rented bikes and rode the carriage trails, very hilly.

Absolutely lovely

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved the three days we spent at Fok Sul, a charming little cottage like unit on the Southwest Harbor. It was comfortable, adorable and the views of the harbor were beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed for breakfast and we ate out at the local spots (all walking distance) for dinner. It was perfect. Thank you!!!

Great location, very comfortable

  • 4 of 5

Our trip started on a rocky road, airline cancelled our flight so we arrived a day late. The owners were very accomodating. We extended our stay once we got there, the location was such that there was really no point to go anywhere else. Acadia, MDI, Bar Harbor all within a short drive away. Comming back to sit by the water was always perfect. Ths apartment was clean, and comfortable and had everthing we needed. We would go again.

Sooo Charming and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This is a very unique unit. It is directly on the harbor and has great views. The unit is filled with unique cottage furnishings. It has a great full kitchen and modern bathroom. There are 2 decks and sunset views are great. I would highly recommend this place. You can be in Acadia in less than 5 minutes! You can also walk to great shops and restaurants in this great town.

Love the Fok-Sul, our home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Late summer of 2015 will be our sixth year in a row staying in the Fok-Sul for our annual two-week vacation in Acadia. Prior to moving to the Fok-Sul in 2010, we had stayed at its sister property up the road, Harbour Cottage Inn, every year since 2004. We made the switch only because of a medical condition that requires kitchen facilities, which the Inn only has in two units that are much larger than we need. The Fok-Sul is wonderful. At high tide, the water is literally just a couple feet away from your feet as you sit on the deck, which has a cafe table and chairs in addition to a couple of Adirondack chairs. This is where you want to be when the sun is setting! The bird-watching is also great. The deck is right off the eat-in kitchen, which is fully equipped - it is NOT a kitchenette. Full-sized fridge/freezer, range, tons of cutlery, hand mixer, bowls, pots, pans, plates, glassware, large cupboard, etc. The living room is plenty big for two people, and the bedroom windows overlook the harbor. I love the steamer trunk (left corner of photo) that serves as a combination dresser and closet. There's a second dresser steps away in the living room, and a closet next to the cupboard in the kitchen where you can hang anything extra. The entire property is clean and well-kept. We've never had an issue with noise from any of the other units. In addition to the deck on the harbor side, there is also a large deck with patio furniture on the entrance side of the unit. Ahhh...my blood pressure goes down just thinking about it. The owners, Don and Javier, are amazing - friendly, helpful, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the area. If you need a recommendation for activities or dining options, or just a couple extra towels, all you need to do is ask! We recommend the Fok-Sul without reservation (no pun intended).

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great feedback. This is probably our most popular unit. We just added it to Home Away after renting it and our others for more than 10 years. We love this business and sharing this special property with guests looking for a unique Maine harbor-side experience. This enchanting spot overlooks a true Maine harbor, filled with brightly colored lobster boats and beautifully outfitted sail boats. This is real Maine life folks. Come and see it while it lasts.
