Overview

Point Lookout House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

This is truly Paradise found. This classic 3 bedroom/3 bath beach house with decks on both levels is beautifully appointed. The best in beach-front home design, the house features an open floor plan for easy entertaining, including a spacious glass-enclosed and Bay-front sunroom for all-season views. Situated directly on Chesapeake, hear the waves while you cook, read or relax; see diverse wildlife including, herons, swans, ospreys, bald eagles, and pelicans on outdoor decks OR the inside the house. Or, grab a beach chair and towel and head for the private sandy beach. The open floor plan allows a family or friends to be together whether cooking, playing games, watching television or just relaxing. A party-shed adjacent the main house is equipped with a pool table, refrigerator, seating and it’s own deck when you want a retreat from the main house. Summer at this away destination is glorious but winter days at Paradise Found are as enticing as summer days. Enjoy the solitude of the beach in winter when walks on the beach, bonfires and fantastic views make it hard to pack up and go home.

Enjoy weekend wine tasting at nearby, historic Woodlawn Farm (Slack Wines) where good quality Maryland wines are offered. Check their website for tasting times.

A short-bike ride away is Point Lookout State Park, a Civil War site. Today the park, which is located at the intersection of the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River, hosts miles of protected land set aside for biking, kayaking, boating, fishing, camping or enjoying nature as well as a museum that provides a historical perspective on the region. Or charter a boat at one of many local marinas for a day of fishing on the Bay. Another nearby historical site is St. Mary's City (10 miles), the original capital of Maryland. Visitors are 25 minutes from dining and shopping on Solomon's Island or in historic Leonardtown. Or enjoy one of several local marina restaurants. Want a day trip away? All that the nation's capital has to offer is a short 80 miles away.

Collect shells and beach glass while walking uninterrupted for miles along the sandy beach. Located in a small, remote beach community of a dozen homes, Hays Beach is unlike typical cheek-by-jowl beach communities. Enjoy rare waterfront privacy so close to major cities and amenities.

Fly Zone! Just Awful!

  • 1 of 5

My guests and I were forced to leave early. The house and beach location were lovely although the exterior was not accurate with photos. I could have lived with that UNTIL the biting flies arrived. Thousands of biting house flies and horse flies chased us from the house to the water and back. We were forced to stay inside or wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and hats in 90 degree heat when we ventured out. The flies covered our cars, towels, legs and backs. Perhaps the 3 worn out flyswatters in the house should have tipped us off. Although Peggy was quick to respond when I emailed about weather conditions before I arrived, there was never a word about the flies - I could have brought something to protect us!.She has yet to respond to my email about somehow "making it right" as I paid for 2 nights I could not use.

A Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Paradise Found. Wonderful views of the ocean from the screen room and the deck on the 2nd floor. A small but very nice private beach. 10 minute drive to Point Lookout. An ideal location and accommodations for a quiet retreat.

Inside great, location great, outdoor pics misleading

  • 4 of 5

The house was beautiful on the inside, location was awesome (last house on a small private beach), and overall we had a great time! The outdoor space description and pictures were very misleading though. The upper beach and area immediately around the house was not well maintained and looked nothing like the pictures, there were weeds and prickers everywhere. But we contacted Peggy and she was very responsive and sent some people out to address it the next morning. They took care of some of it and we did some ourselves. Overall though a great time, just check on the property maintenance before you go!

Our favorite vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Paradise Found. Peggy and her staff take great care in making sure that you have everything you need and everything is in order. Kayaking, crabbing, relaxing on the beach, beautiful surroundings. We took the kayaks out one evening and watched a brilliant sunset from the water. I just can't say enough. Thank you so much for everything!! We can't wait to return to Paradise.

Lovely place

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 5 had a good week here. Comfortable furnishings. The house was clean on the surface but could use a good scrubbing. Towels and linens on beds good quality. Location is perfect. Good crabbing right on the beach in front of the house. We used the kayaks and just enjoyed having some down time. It is a bit of a hike to go anywhere (shopping for big groceries or movies) but not a burden. Bingo at the Legion hall was fun one night. Point lookout state park is a treasure and worth a visit. A few local farm stands for fresh produce are fairly close. Overall a pleasant week.

Another wonderful vacation at Paradise Found!

  • 5 of 5

This is our third year coming to Scotland and our second year vacationing in Paradise Found and I could not recommend it any more. We first came to the area to look for shark teeth three years ago when my sons ages 4 and 1, were obsessed with sharks and dinosaur fossils. Three years later, they are now ages 6 and 3 and we still haven't found a shark tooth but we have found lots of toads, lizards, pebbles, seashells, fish and of course crabs! As well as being able to watch sand pipers run on the shore and Ospreys hunt for breakfast, lunch and dinner and then bring it home to their nest. It is a little naturalist's paradise and therefore a parents' and grandparents' because we can relax in comfort while they explore and discover. The house is very well equipped and decorations are beautiful. The views of the bay from the kitchen, sunroom and both decks are amazing! The privacy of the sand and surf outside your door are unbelievable. If you are looking to reconnect with nature, loved ones and/ or yourself this is it.
