About Ron Rykowski

We live in Bellevue, WA (near Seattle) and enjoy water sports, snow sports, and love visiting Hawaii all times of the year. We love our unit of Beach villas! It is so special to wake up in the morning and see the ocean from the bed. We can't wait to go back to our beautiful Beach villas!

Ron Rykowski purchased this condo in 2010

Why Ron Rykowski chose Oahu

Ko Olina is in a perfect location. It's easy and quick to get there from the Honolulu airport, and is away from the buzz and crowds of Waikiki, yet close enough to visit when we like. The beaches in the Ko Olina Resort are just outstanding.

What makes this condo unique

We love sitting on the grass next to the beach, walking along the wide beach front sidewalk, snorkeling in the lagoons, playing tennis at the Marriott, and swimming in the beautiful pools.

Awesome location to be by the Ocean.

  • 5 of 5

This property is amazing. The way the doors open to let you be part of the out of doors is awesome. The view from the deck is breath taking and to be able to watch the sunsets will be unforgettable! We will for sure stay here again. Location was awesome Condo was up to date and clean and the price was right as well. Thanks Rykowski's for sharing your place. We will hope to do it again in the near future.

Condo #1103 Beach Tower of the Beach Villas at Ko Olina VRBO #313070

  • 2 of 5

Condo is located so that it doesn't get any sun on the patio all day long & to enjoy the sunset you have to sort of lean out over the railing to look to the West - that might improve as summer comes on & the sunset moves more to the North.

Condo furniture is old, broken down & uncomfortable. The patio table & chairs are the "high-type" furniture like you find in bars... not very comfortable to perch on for a meal but I suppose OK to sit on for the "sunset" that you have to lean over the railing to view.

Condo is located above the public beach parking lot so you get to enjoy the "beep" of each & every car alarm being activated & deactivated as people come & go to the beach - not to mention having to sit through the "beep/beep/beep/beep" of the occasional car alarm going off as a result of the car being bumped or something... That noise went on night & day - very unpleasant.

The buildings next door to the North have been fenced in - apparently to prepare for their demolition... The demolition is going to be a lot of fun to listen to in addition to the parking lot noise going on below plus it's going to get even more noisy as a "new & improved" building goes up on that lot.

The neighbors one floor down added to the discomfort & noise by sitting out on their patio till well after midnight having noisy "wine fueled" conversations... Probably won't have such inconsiderate neighbors yourselves - I think we were just unlucky in that regard.

My advice is to find a condo over looking either of the swimming pools.

Owner's Response: As of now, my villa has received 50 5-star reviews, and this is the only exception. My villa location is one of the most desirable in the complex and was one of 3 villas that was used by the original developer for "experience stays" to promote sales. It offers one of the best unobstructed views on the property and maximum privacy. Regarding beeps from parking lot 11 floors down, that must have been an unusual week as we never noticed it previously. The reviewer suggested a unit over the swimming pool, but we specifically chose to buy this unit because we didn't want to hear noise from the pools. Regarding "noisy wine fueled conversation" from the villa below, that could happen at any high-rise anywhere and is not a reflection of my villa. In fact my villa is better than most in that there are no neighbors above or to the left side, so it's less likely to happen. Other comments about the furniture are a matter of personal preference. We replaced the low seating chairs and coffee table that most villas had with a dining table because it's so pleasant to eat out on the lanai and enjoy the view. The vast majority of my guests agree and commented how they loved to spend all their time on the lanai.

Amazing View!

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved staying here. It accommodates a family of 4 very well and was nice and quiet. We loved opening the doors of the lanai and enjoying the fresh air and the amazing views. You get ocean views on one side and mountain views on the other. The pool area is very nice and not too crowded. The beach is also very nice and not too crowded. The owner of this condo supplies the beach chairs and there are nice shady areas to sit. Ko Olina is gorgeous and the people are so nice. I was impressed with how the folks in that area really embrace and preserve the Hawaiian culture. I didn't feel that way in Maui so it was nice to see that. Overall, it was a spectacular stay!

Perfect Hawaii Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time visiting Oahu and using VRBO. Ron was very easy to work with. Our family would highly recommend anyone going to Ko Olina to pick this unit for your vacation.

The 2 bedroom villa was really impressive. There is a lot of room for a family of four. The unit has everything you will need, beach chairs, snorkel gear, beach towels, to a washer / dryer. Honestly it had everything you will need. Restaurants and shops are within walking distance.

It also has amazing views of the ocean and the mountains. Sitting on the lanai every morning was really nice and also watching the sunset from the lanai was something too. We were the only family on the 11th floor, so it was really quiet. Well maintained and secure property.

Perfect for families!

  • 5 of 5

This is the first VRBO I have stayed in. We have 2 small children (6 and 2) and as much as we wanted to stay at Aulani, we also wanted ocean views and quiet. At Aulani, you probably couldn’t even get the view that we had at Ron’s place, but if you did you would pay 3x more there. We also wanted to stay near one of the lagoons, so the children could swim in the ocean. Literally you get out of the elevator, and walk less than a minute to the beach. This is extremely convenient with small children. Ron’s place is also exactly as he describes it. Everything is flawless. We ate a lot of our meals on the lanai, and even saw some whales in January when we were there. All of the appliances are top of the line. The dishwasher is amazing, because it is half the size of a regular dishwasher, so we could fill it up with the day’s dishes and run it. We also packed lighter, since there is a washer and dryer. There are plenty of beach chairs and toys, although if your kids like a lot of toys maybe bring your own. They had to share a shovel, but not a big deal. Parking is convenient, covered, and free, unlike the resorts nearby. We didn’t watch TV except for a few kids DVDS, but could tell the technology is very advanced. The pool is just right for a family- not too big and overwhelming but enough variety for children. They even have a sandy beach pool which is great for kids who can’t swim yet. We could always find a chair, and my daughter met some friends that she saw everyday. The grounds are beautiful. The koi fish are an adventure for kids as well. There are plenty of grocery stores and restaurants nearby. We drove out of the area for this, but not more than 15 minutes away. We weren’t impressed by the shopping center across the street, but then again enjoying a bottle of wine on the lanai is better than being around crowds! Definitely the best thing about this place is the view, which is priceless. I would definitely stay here again. We have no complaints at all about Ron’s unit.
