Burnsville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

Home away from Home on the South Toe River! Everything you need to enjoy the view and relax. Our home is accessible no matter what the weather. County maintained asphalt roads all the way to the driveway. Indoor Jacuzzi in the walk out basement along with a gaming table and bar all done in tasteful log cabin decor. Enjoy a movie on the big screen tv on the comfy sectional couch in the basement or have a game of cards or monopoly on the large game table. Upstairs enjoy the gas fireplace and turn the music up or watch your favorite tv show. Read a book at the outdoor table on upper deck under the umbrella as the birds eat at the feeders down below. Hummingbirds abound in the spring and you can see the trout swimming in the shallow waters in the South Toe River. Enjoy a fire down by the river at the fire pit; gather fallen branches or bring your own wood. In the summer, you can rent innertubes and drop the kids off upstream for them to get out right at your back yard. Trout fishermen are a common sight as well as other families floating downstream. Sleep at night with your windows open and let the sounds of the river lull you off to sleep! Wake up refreshed with a great cup of tea or coffee at the kitchen table which looks right out at the South Toe River.

No Matter what time of the year it is, the view is astoundingly peaceful!

About Robin Fowler

Mike and Robin have two boys, one in college one in high school. We have been married 23 yrs this October! Robin

Robin Fowler purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Robin Fowler chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

Mike went to college at Western Carolina University and his parents bought a home in the general area many years ago. We spent many years looking for just the right home and it HAD to be on the river. Mike really enjoys fly fishing and Robin just likes the serenity of being close to the water. Both of us actually grew up in South Florida so having a home in the mountains has always been a dream for us.

What makes this cabin unique

When we get there it isn't unusual for Robin to just settle in, read books and relax. We enjoy going to the square to eat and visit our favorite clothing and gift shops. For lunch, there is the Garden Deli where you can eat inside or out and it's right on the square. In the spring, summer and fall, there is a craft fair featuring all kinds of local ware right on the square. There is a quaint little ONE SCREEN old-time theater that some of our guests have gone to see whatever movie is playing and there is even live theater. Mt Mitchell Golf Course is 10 minutes up the road and Carolina Hemlocks is a state park/camp site where you can rent inner tubes and play in the river. There is also a horse ranch up the road called Clear Creek and if they aren't booked up you might be able to squeeze in a trail ride if that's up your alley. Grandfather Mountain is about 45 minutes away and has great view and places to picnic. Crabtree Falls is a campground that allows you to follow the trail down to view a very cool waterfall, just remember you have to hike back up. You can do a lot or nothing at all and still have a wonderful time.

Always check with the Yancy county Chamber of Commerce to see what's coming up!

Very clean and beautiful place. Creek and firepit is where we spent most of our time.

Absolutely wonderful

  • 5 of 5

What can I say that others have not already said. Beautiful area and wonderful rental home. I felt like I was home from the time I set foot inside. Exceptionally stocked and clean rental. The owners have gone out of their way to make sure everything you need (and then some) is available. I am a fly fisherman and have dreamed of having a mountain home on a stream like this. Whether relaxing inside, on the the upper or lower deck on sitting around the fire pit this place is 5+ stars. Robin did contact us to make sure everything was in order and of course it was. Not a single complaint from my wife or I, our kids or grand kids that also were with us. While not a problem for us be aware that there is no cell phone service for several miles but they do provide a phone for your use. Highly recommended.

A serene and peaceful setting for our family gathering.

  • 5 of 5

Dream on a Stream is well named. The views of the Toe River right outside the property are beautiful and tranquil. We wish our stay had been longer, we regret we did not have time to wade and play in the river. It is so inviting, our grandson would have loved playing in the water! The water is crystal clear, shallow, and the slow moving current is lovely to listen to. The home is spacious, immaculate, and well furnished for comfort and relaxation. The space is well designed to allow three couples to each have their own bedroom and bathroom, with two common living areas to come together for tv, movies, and games. The indoor jacuzzi is an added plus. The kitchen is well equipped and the kitchen dining area has awesome views of the beautiful wooded lot and river. The upstairs deck is enclosed with well built railings, providing a secure place for our toddler grandson to play while the adults enjoyed the ambiance. Robin, the owner, was very friendly and welcoming, with tips about travel directions, area hikes and places to eat. She was prompt and helpful in responding to our questions. A lovely weekend vacation experience!

Great place for a group of friends!

  • 5 of 5

This place was great! It's even better in person!

My friends and I loved lounging on the porches, floating in the backyard (the South Toe River!), hanging out in the hot tub, playing games and watching TV in the cozy living room, and hiking to nearby waterfalls. We had a great time, and felt incredibly comfortable--the house was stocked with everything we needed!

Perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

We loved your home and all it had to offer. We love that you provided basic necessities like soap as is not always the case.

The space was more than we expected and even visited the bakery in Micaville TWICE and looked for our own piece of heaven to purchase close by.

Great place on S. Toe River.

  • 5 of 5

Such a great place to get away. This is our 3rd year and can't say enough about how great everything is. So much fun fishing and tubing right out the back door. Great location for exploring waterfalls and Blue Ridge Parkway. Burnsville has nice shops and dining as does Spruce Pine.

The house is set-up with everything needed for a relaxing time with 2 decks, grill, fire pit. I like to sit in area down by river and watch the fish, deer, and other wild life. I can't wait to be back again and explore more of this great area. Thanks Mike and Robin for sharing your home with us.

Lots of home owned pottery galleries, churches nearby if you care to go on Sunday, day trip to Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad for little ones, waterfalls close by to hike to and a horse ranch which sometimes (when not full) will allow you to take trail rides with a guide. I found a link for bike routes, but you would need to bring your own bikes...
