Space 2,000 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Bayfront - double wide lot, 3 bedrooms 2 baths plus separate guest Cottage

We own this bay front cottage because living on the water, seeing the water from mostly every room, and waking up to the birds singing does wonders for the soul. Our family loves coming here and 'getting away' from it all. It is a charming, clean, great open floor plan with living room, dining room, kitchen all open and windows / sliding doors all showing the unobstructed bay views. #tremendous!

***NO parties, no weddings, not suitable for 'spring break' type getaways. If you are looking to party, we are not a good fit. Kindly look elsewhere. We seek family minded groups seeking peace, quiet, relaxation and good times. We are good neighbors, are community minded and do not want any disturbance. If you are like-minded, please proceed! We'd love to host you! #GoodNeighbors #BeCool

About Richard

We are a family of five who reside in New York City. I am an entrepreneur and my wife is a Surgeon. We love traveling together and after our first visit to Fairhope, fell in love and wanted a small piece of it in our lives.

Richard purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Richard chose Alabama Gulf Coast

We visited Fairhope and instantly fell in love with the small community -- terrific art scene, charming downtown, fantastic restaurants, and a unbelievable quality of life. Very authentic, not too touristy, and drop dead gorgeous.

We visit Fairhope and escape from the rest of the world. It allows us to spend great quality family time together, slow down, reconnect, and rest and relax. It is incredibly peaceful living on the water and seeing birds, dolphins and wildlife from your windows, boat house, etc. Waking up to the sounds of the birds singing is magnificent.

What makes this cottage unique

Unobstructed bayfront views from most rooms. Double wide lot (extra privacy). Terrific boat house with swing bench located over the water. Can you imagine a better place to watch the most beautiful sunset you've ever seen?

Great Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had an amazing time. It was a very relaxing week. The house was great. We had plenty of room and every thing we needed. (The guest house was a nice bonus.) The pier needs a little attention but at the same time, we never felt like it was unsafe. We enjoyed fishing and crabbing from it and watching some amazing sunsets.

We would also like to thank Monica, the property manager, who met us there when we checked in. She made us feel right at home and answered all of our questions. It may be old fashioned, but I still prefer dealing with people in person. Great customer service like that is hard to find these days.

Beautiful location and well equipped home.

  • 4 of 5

The property is very nice. Open floor plan allowed for our family to gather for meals, conversations, games and tv watching.

Pier is in need of some new slats and more seating, but otherwise we enjoyed it.

great views and sunsets!

  • 4 of 5

our rental went very smoothly....we met the manager Monica at our arrival who was very helpful. The views and sunsets were wonderful. We managed to be home by 7 pm every night from sightseeing to watch the sun go down! The guest house was great and our family enjoyed our mini vacation over the Easter holiday at Bamalicious!!!

Needs work

  • 2 of 5

Needs a good thorough cleaning. Mold in the bathroom tile & around the window. We took our fishing poles because of the dock, never even unpacked them. The dock is rickety and not trustworthy, boards are turning up on the sides which is a trip hazard and covered with bird stuff. Gross. The landing going off the back porch needs replacing. Bedding was clean.

Owner's Response: Hi Rose, Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately your stay in early March was just a couple of weeks prior to our Spring clean up. As you can appreciate, winter on the water is rough on waterfront homes, piers, docks, etc. This winter was particularly difficult with several storms which caused some damage to boards and nails to loosen etc. The GOOD NEWS for all future guests is: all the loose wood has been replaced and is 100% safe and in great condition. Likewise, after a full winter of bird activity on the walkway, we have done our spring cleaning and power washed the pier and boat house. However, birds are a constant struggle for all waterfront owners and while we clean and maintain, every home on the water will have bird droppings. Regarding the bathroom, thanks for bringing this to our attention as the last guests left the window cracked and moisture entered. It too has been remedied. As you can see from all history of 5 start reviews, this is an unfortunate blemish that occurred during the "in between season" before spring cleaning and repairs to get ready for spring and summer. But, rest assured, all has been remedied and this really falls into the category of standard routine maintenance but unfortunately, it takes place in Spring and not late winter. Thanks again for visiting Rose and for your candid feedback. Best, Richard
