Opihihale House Rental Photos and Description

Huge Custom Beach Home, Incredible Views, Handicap Friendly! Sleeps 6. Beautiful

For all of you who are “on-the-fence” about where to stay in Hawaii, we would like to share some important things to consider.

When it comes to airfare, renting a car, food, gas and misc. expenses, everyone who ventures out to Hawaii will pretty much pay the same price. The real difference is the lodging. A lot of people overlook this important decision and often find themselves having a sub par vacation based on where they ended up staying. 'We get it! ' You thought that you would save a few bucks, however, the few bucks that you saved on paper did

nothing to ultimately enhance your trip.

That's where Simple Pleasures makes a difference.

For the value, we offer a clean, comfortable and elegant accommodation that will absolutely enhance your stay in Hawaii.

We invite you to view our photos and video to see the difference.

We are offering the Penthouse level of our 5,000 sq. ft recently finished Beach home starting at $175.00. You get the top floor, 2 bedroom, 2 full bathroom, huge penthouse suite that sleeps 5. All of our amenities are clean, custom and brand new! The rest of the house is officially closed, which means no other people will stay in this Huge Home or on the property while you are there. Lastly, this Hawaiian Palace is only a 5 min. walk to the beach! What more can we say? it is a fantastic deal. Please compare our photos and videos with others on the site. Our aim is to get it right, and make sure our guests are happy.

If this makes sense to you please read on and get more details. Aloha! Simple Pleasures.

Our official Property Description

From the start, the concept behind this truly majestic build was very clear, tastefully work with the land, capture its essence, and “Keep it Simple.”

The Hawaiian Islands are simply one of the world’s most desirable locations, truly a tropical paradise beyond compare. A perfect fit for a once in a lifetime opportunity to build a once in a lifetime dream. With that said, we warmly offer our personal contribution to the islands by launching our most beautiful creation to date, “Simple Pleasures”.

Situated approximately 45 minutes south of Kailua- Kona, Simple Pleasures is close enough to partake in all of Kona’s nightlife yet far enough away to marinate in a real feeling of authentic Hawaiian lifestyle. Once you set foot on the property, it will be obvious that your new Hawaiian home was the right choice. This freshly finished 2012 custom home is easily on par with the highest of high-end resorts, but at nearly half the cost.

Our “ Plumeria Lined Paradise”, a five minute walk to the beach, not only offers some of the most magnificent ocean views, but our guests will appreciate the natural breezes from the Hawaiian trade winds lufting through our 16ft ceilings. Luxurious stone floors were thoughtfully placed in all common areas to ensure our guests keep cool. The full size custom bathrooms, made of both stone and marble, enjoy upgraded touches such as custom cabinets, vessel sinks and bidets to enhance your experience. For the utmost comfort, each bedroom has been outfitted with luxury hotel grade queen size pillow-top mattresses, finished off with mahogany sleigh bed frames. Additionally, the bedrooms include mahogany hardwood floors, your own private bath, wireless internet, and safe deposit boxes. Our tastefully executed kitchen, designed to be a “social kitchen”, places the cook in a position that faces the entire living room, lanai and all guests while preparing meals whether dining indoors or using the formal dining table outdoors on the lanai. Last but not least, the crown jewel of Simple Pleasures is our 1,000-sq.ft ocean facing lanai. You can easily see 40 miles of spectacular coastline views in each direction! It really equates to being the ultimate outdoor living room on the property. This is where all the sunsets, whale watching and outdoor socializing happens. Whether it is a glass of wine, reading a book, or stretching out on the 8ft. daybed, this spot is all Hawaii. From our vantage point, the mixture of fresh floral air mixed with the tranquil ocean breeze cannot be put into words. This is truly a space to be experienced. With this much space, we also created an outdoor “dining room”. This was brilliant! With million dollar views, this is the perfect spot for our guest to gather and have breakfast before a day of site seeing, lunch after snorkeling at the beach or a beautiful backdrop for a romantic dinner at sunset. It doesn’t get any better.

Simple Pleasures to us means, “seamless harmony”. Understanding that your Hawaii vacation means everything to you and trips like this don’t happen everyday, our focus was to anticipate your needs and exceed your expectations.

We thank you for considering us and wish you nothing but Aloha, and remember,

“Keep it Simple”!

Note: Our calendar is up to date. If there is a partial line through the date, then that day is not available.

Thank you!

Awesome Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Amazing place. Exactly as advertised! Beautiful, clean, spectacular views etc.. etc.. My family (husband and three sons ages 18 and up) were here for a week and absolutely could not have found a better place. We were 3 minutes from a private little beach with great snorkeling, 15 min from a grocery store (Choice Mart) stocked with everything you could need, 45 minutes away from the airport (Kailua Kona), 1(+/-) hour away from beautiful white sand beaches to the north and 1.5 (+/-) hours away from the volcano area to the south. We even managed to swim with the sea turtles in Hilo (Carl Smith Park).

Each of our sons ended up with their own bed as the daybeds in both the Living room and lanai were big enough (full size) to sleep on.

The only negative was the mosquitoes. Easily taken care of with Deep Woods Off or if you're not a fan....Avon Skin so Soft which also works.

Also, since we were there for Tropical Storm Darby, the managers/ cleaners even paid us a little visit to make sure we were aware of the upcoming winds and rain. Super nice couple who even gave us tips on additional snorkeling areas.

Tips:

Bring water shoes for the little beach below (and much of the big island). The little beach is made up of tons of beautifully rounded lava rock (not sharp). Absolutely beautiful, but hard to get out of the water without them. My sons did it easily, but it was a little more difficult for my husband and I.

Don't miss Annie's Burgers and Beer (20 min. north). Best burgers ever, along with fantastic service!

I also highly recommend booking a family portrait with Debi Buck of Beyond the Box Photography. She was very easy to work with and offered us a great price for a 30 minute session in a beautiful locale!

Thank you Mik'a and Lisa! We would definitely choose to stay at Simple Pleasures again; and would recommend it to anyone!!

Gorgeous home overlooking the ocean from an amazing wrap around porch.

  • 5 of 5

This house is amazingly beautiful. It has high ceilings, gorgeous polished floors, elegant furniture and silky smooth linens. You feel like royalty when you stay here. Best of all is the wrap around porch overlooking the ocean. From there you hear birds chirping, smell fragrant tropical flowers and feel an ocean breeze while watching the most beautiful sunsets. It is close to many fantastic snorkeling and swimming spots. It's on a jungley hillside with beautiful plants and animals but close enough to pop into town for the more crowded tourist attractions, the best of both worlds. It has a full kitchen with everything you need to eat comfortably at home. I can't recommend this house highly enough, I'm never happier than I am when I'm here!

Gorgeous property that immediately relaxes you

  • 5 of 5

This is a great property. Even better than the pictures. Both rooms are really nice; one is larger and has an ocean view. The kitchen is really well stocked in terms of equipent. The patio is amazing. The neighborhood is quite steep but my husband had no problem driving in it. The location is great as you are close enough to drive to Kona, the south tip, and volcano but you're not in a touristy area at all. The beach that's in the neighborhood is a pebble beach that's nice, and they're are lots of beaches nearby. I would definitely stay here again.

It is true, as the previous reviewer stated, that there are a lot of bugs at night but it's mainly on the patio. Being from Texas, I understand that a candle is really not going to do anything when you're waterside in the country, but perhaps the property needs to be treated. It is clean, however. I would book without hesitation! Much better experience than you'll get at a resort or even a bed and breakfast.

Stunning

  • 5 of 5

Simple Pleasures was a wonderful place for a family getaway. The home was built with so much care and attention to detail. There are so many unique features that give the home a high-end feel. I use a wheelchair and it's difficult to find a 100% accessible VRBO but this property was perfect. It is a zero barrier design that has no stairs, large doors, easy access showers and a very large user-friendly kitchen. I would absolutely stay here again and wound recommend it to anyone.

Not bad, but expected more

  • 3 of 5

First the good: Simple Pleasures is a beautiful home with expansive views. Loved the sleigh beds and simple, tasteful linens in the bedrooms, as well as the modern bathrooms (one with tub, one with walk-in shower). Also loved the clean and modern aesthetic of the kitchen -- beautiful counters and well-stocked in terms of small appliances (but no kitchen towels or napkins!). The ceiling fans in every room were great, as well.

Now for the not-so-good: What I did NOT love, however, were the hordes of bugs in the home -- our toddler had 40-50 bites covering his little body (and we suffered too) from being INSIDE the house (we couldn't let him out on the lanai at all, which was unfortunate). Some Off spray and citronella candles seem standard based on our other vacation rentals and would have been much appreciated (we eventually got some ourselves, but it was a bit of a shlep & made the first night unbearable). Also, the house could have been a lot cleaner (particularly given the VERY steep cleaning fee). The inside of the microwave oven was filthy with caked on food (I cleaned it myself before use). There were crumbs on the counter, particularly in the vicinity of the toaster. The master bath shower and shower curtain had visible black mold. The floors throughout left something to be desired (the soles of our feet were quite dirty after walking around the main floor of the house). My brother-in-law commented that when he went to reach for something that had rolled under his bed, he saw the biggest dustbunny he's ever seen, along with all sorts of other trash (empty water bottles, etc.). I noticed balls of hair underneath the chairs in the living room (ick). Guests are also required to drive their own garbage etc. to the nearby dump. Not the best use of vacation time. Again, given the substantial cleaning fee, I expected more.

Also, be advised that the standard booking fee is for two guests, which is clear when booking. What troubled me, however, is that we were charged the full additional guest fee for our 4-yearold child, who slept in the bed with us (there were only 2 beds in the house). Seems fine to pay the additional fee for an adult guest, but silly for a toddler. My two cents.

Finally, we appreciated the good selection of beach accoutrements provided (coolers, chairs, etc), but the one item we used (beach umbrella) was broken, which we discovered too late. Ah well!

Overall, the house was fine, but I would not stay there again.

Owner's Response: As the owners of this beautiful home , who have done "Everything" possible to provide the best of experiences for our guests, we are sad to report that we too can fall victim of unfortunate circumstances. Last month, June 2016, our original cleaning team, who has been cleaning our home for years, closed their doors and left the island to spend time with their newly born grandchildren. This news came to us last minute and we were forced to seek out a team quickly to cover our upcoming rentals. The folks we chose "appeared" to be qualified and addressed all of our cleaning concerns correctly and not being on the island we agreed to go with them. Unfortunately we got scammed!!! The person who we dealt with over the phone sent other unqualified people to our house, kept our money and we never heard from them again. This was awful! We paid for the entire month of June cleans to this person and based on our findings, we have fired the entire cleaning crew. As of July 2, 2016 we have successfully hired the best cleaning company in the entire area and are back on the island keeping a close eye on our beloved property. We were deeply hurt by all of this and especially reviews that could hurt our reputation as a Clean, Great Value on the island. All we can say is that we are deeply sorry for any inconveniences anyone has encountered and we are back on track of providing a great clean value when it comes to calling a place home while on the island. Lastly, as a testament to who we are and what we stand for as a destination, please read all of our great reviews and notice we have never once in 4 yrs. had a complaint about how clean our place was. Thank you, Mik'a and Lisa (The Happy Owners)

Beautiful House

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful house just as pictured with top-notch furniture and accessories. Perfect for those who want to get away from the tourist crowds and live like a local. There are plenty of ceiling fans although it was still very hot and humid, our trip was in June. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything one needs to cook at home. If you want to go out to eat or shop you'll be doing some driving. Tips: Bring bug spray, we were bit by mosquitoes in the house and rent a car that's able to drive the very steep street and driveway to the house.
