Cozy three room cottage with one bedroom, right on the ocean with 320 feet of sandy beach and a 180 degree view of Frenchman's Bay and Acadia. We have our own sandy beach to enjoy a swim or relax in the sun. If you enjoy kayaking or canoeing you can put in right out front of the cottage. You can bring your own or rent one locally. With it's inspirational views, here is the perfect spot for artist or writer, or for a couple looking to share a special getaway. The early morning sunrise is spectacular. You may even catch sight of a moose or deer grazing on the lawn, or a seal resting on the ledge out front at half tide. Its a wonderful spot to view the mountains of Acadia or the large cruise ships on their way into Bar Harbor, or watch the 4masted ships on their daily cruise around the bay.
There is a general store a few miles away for last minute things, and the town of Ellsworth just 10 miles away with its antique shops and restaurants and supermarkets. There is a hospital and a library, a cinema, and a scenic train ride too.
The drive to Bar Harbor is 22 miles by auto, or you may want to kayak the six miles by water. There are many things to do and see in the town of Bar Harbor with its many unique shops, galleries and wonderful restaurants. While on the island make sure to visit Acadia National Park, one of the most visited national parks in the USA. It has lots of walking trails for novices or hiking for all ages to enjoy. Bring your swim suit and visit 'Sand Beach' on your ride around the park, and don't miss the show at 'Thunderhole' or maybe stop by the famous 'Jordan Pond House' for lunch or afternoon tea and popovers overlooking the 'pond'. And don't forget about the "other" part of Acadia National Park located at Schoodic Point, off the island..It is my favorite spot and less crowded. It is worth the drive to see the views and the thundering surf, especially at the upcoming tide or a particularly windy day. It's amazing!
Our cottage is fully equipped with linens, towels, dishes, pots & pans, stove with oven, refrigerator, microwave, electric coffee maker, toaster and washer and dryer.
The bedroom has a comfortable Queen size bed , a closet and a bureau for your use. The bathroom has a tub with shower. The living room has three comfortable chairs for relaxing and watching television with Cable. There are puzzles, books and a Scrabble game for your enjoyment.
A gas grill is available if desired, and internet service is available if needed. No pets and no smoking please.

We found this cabin to be very neat & clean and centrally located for all of our
adventures in Acadia and surrounding area. Although it rained a little every
day except one in our weeks stay, it did not dampen our spirits or even slow us
down. We ate lobster for the first time ever. Quite an adventure! We hiked,
whale watched and ate like Kings & Queens. We had a great time.
Very enjoyable apartment right on the ocean. Spent many hours just reading and enjoying the view from the point on the property overlooking the water. We were also close to Acadia Nat'l Park which we explored often in our 2-week stay. Hosts were always available and very friendly. The apartment was very clean and the description was accurate. Highly recommend for a couple looking for a quiet place on the coast of Maine.
My grandson and I spent a week, including July 4 holiday, at the cottage, and couldn't BELIEVE our good fortune. A private beach, ah-mazing 180degree views of water (right ON the water) and Acadia Nat'l Forest, and Cadillac Mountain. We combed the beach, played games, watched the fireworks over the water on July 4th, swam in nearby fresh water pond, had picnics, and could get to Ellsworth for shopping, and Bar Harbor for entertainment, in 15 and 40 minutes respectively. Private yet accessible, beautiful yet comfortable. And welcomed with yummiest homemade muffins! We....willl....be....back!!
This is the perfect spot if you're looking for quiet...It is very peaceful...Scenario is amazing...The cottage is clean, and Ivy and Dick are great hosts...Ivy had homemade muffins waiting for us on our arrival and were very tasty...Dick gave us the history of the property and it was very interesting...They gave us the privacy that we wanted , but were also very personable...We will be going back...Thanks again Ivy and Dick, always great making new friends...
The location of the cottage was perfect. It was in the center of all the sight seeing we wanted to visit. The view of the water and the mountains were so beautiful. The water so clean. We met the locals and they were so friendly. We enjoyed talking to Ivy and Dick. They were great hosts. This is a vacation my husband and I will never forget.
My husband and I wanted a peaceful escape away from noise, a lot of traffic and people. BUT, we wanted to be a reasonable driving distance to get to the places we wanted to be. The oceanfront cottage was perfect for this. It's small, but just the right size for 2 people, quaint and in a very quiet area. Right on the water with plenty of activity to watch. Or, just sit quietly, watch a seal swim by, the birds fish, lobster boats work there floats, kayakers enjoying their time, etc. I personally enjoyed walking the beach and looking for interesting objects or critters stuck in the rocky pools after the tide went out. We could get to Bar Harbor within 40 minutes and then on to Acadia which is a stunning area. Our favorite day was going to Schoodic Point and visiting the mainland portion of Acadia. Very few people there, much quieter and stunning views and sunset from Schoodic Point. Then don't miss the Seafood Stew at the Winkled Pickle. We found the Lobster rolls in Maine over priced in the heavily traveled areas but once out of Bar Harbor, Camden and other well traveled sites prices were more reasonable for most everything. From our cottage we were able to enjoy good food, plenty of shopping, Beautiful sites everywhere and lots and lots to do OR...do nothing. We enjoyed that to and the cottage, lawn and beach offered that. Dick and Ivy were rarely seen and very quiet. We did not even know they were around most of the time. We found them to be excellent hosts, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The neighbor right next door was also nice and stopped by to say hi. We would recommend the cottage for couples who don't have a large budget as it was extremely reasonable for the accommodations we got. Maine is a beautiful place both inland and on the coast and we loved our time there.
Lamoine Beach was the perfect place for us to explore Acadia and the Schoodic Peninsula. We began our day outside with our coffee and tea watching the lobster boats, gazing at Cadillac Mountain, and listening to the waves gently come to shore. We hiked, biked and kayaked, just perfect. Ivy and Dick are wonderful host's as they are so knowledgeable about the area. The cottage is just enough for two, to relax and enjoy the beauty of this very beautiful spot on the water. We will always remember our stay with Ivy and Dick at Lamoine Beach, we highly recommend that you experience the beauty and serenity of this very special place.
