My husband and I attended the Newport Boat show and seminars. The Gables apartment was roomy, comfortable, beautifully well equipt, and an easy drive into Newport each day. It was nice to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city of Newport, while we were there and then relaxing to return to the quiet, peaceful, country feel of this location. George and Diane are fabulous hosts and spoiled us with welcome treats. Their recommendations for dining in the area were terrific.
We look forward to staying here again should we return to show next year.
Our hosts were absolutely lovely. They greeted us upon arrival and made us feel very welome during out stay. We were left cheese and wine as well as a sweet cake and coffee, which was great after our journey from Western Mass. Our hosts maintained their good humor and disposition even when we locked ourselves out and had to summon them for assistance. The Gables was very neat and clean and had everything we needed. It is not far from Newport and only an hour's drive from Point Judith, which is a favorite spot of ours. I would not hesistate to recommend The Gables to anyone looking to stay in the Tiverton area.
This was the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Went with a co teacher friend just to relax for a weekend and that was exactly what we got. George and Dianne greeted us as soon as we pulled in. They were so helpful and thoughtful. We LOVED the local wine and cheese and the the lemon bread was unbelievable. My friend and I, both directionally challenged, attempted destinations that were just not meant to be however....... What we stumbled upon instead were hidden gems that were far better that what we had planned originally. Thank you George and Diane!
George and Diane met us warmly when we arrived and saw us off when we left. Local wine and cheese and other treats welcomed us. The accommodation’s exceeded expectations, very conscientiously appointed and prepared. We stayed three nights and look forward to visiting again.
Local activities: Fogland for windsurfing, South Shore Beach in Little Compton for a walk, another walk around Fort Barton just a block up from the Gables, and Tiverton four corners for some antiquing. Saw the Butterfly Museum as Tiverton’s top attraction on Trip Advisor, but it appeared to be closed.
Very satisfied with meals at 501, Eveylns, Crowthers, and Black Goose
Spacious 1 bedroom. Very clean. The location is great- just a few blocks from the basic needs -(breakfast and beach)- and short drives to everything R.I. islands have to offer. Plus, very quick back to Boston compared to the Cape, or locations further south/ west.
Best part was the local wine, cheese & crackers on our arrival, and the locally roasted coffee and lemon bread for the next morning! The owners are very friendly, and left us to ourselves.
My husband and I took a long weekend and stayed at the Gables Tea House. The owners were friendly and helpful with things to see and eat in the area. We needed some much time away and it was quaint and quiet. The room or should I stay Studio Apartment was clean and well maintained. We will definitely stay there again in the future. We loved it!!!
Tiverton is located on the eastern shore of Narragansett Bay, across the Sakonnet River from Aquidneck Island (also known as the Island of Rhode Island). Together with the adjacent town of Little Compton, the area is disconnected from the rest of the state of Rhode Island. The northern portion of the town is located on Mount Hope Bay.
