Newaygo Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Muskegon River- quiet location - private 3 bedroom, 2 bath close the the action

Wake up Overlooking the Beautiful Muskegon River! Enjoy the view from a nice, covered deck. It's one of my favorite places on our property.

We're located at 4545 W Fern Glen Dr. Fremont, Mi. 49412.

With 3 Bedrooms and 2 Bathrooms, the cabin sleeps 9. There is local TV. A VCR and DVD player with about 50 movies are also available. You are welcome to bring your own DVDs if you or the kids have some favorites. There is a full kitchen with all the utensils.

You'll be close to Canoes, Kayaks and Fishing. Fremont Baby Food Festival, Muskegon Bike Time and Michigan's Adventure as well as many other events are within a short driving distance.

For the fisherman, you can put your boat in the river close by and leave it parked out front while you stay. Or, if you prefer, just fish from the shore.

About Steve Bedgood

My wife and I have been married 34 years. We have 5 children and close to 20 grandchildren.

We always wanted a place on the river. We bought our 10 acres in 1992. We built our home out here in 1995.

In 2000 we put a home in next door for my dad. It was to be his summer home as he had a home in Mississippi. After 2 years he sold his Mississippi home and moved up here. We were glad to have him.

He lived there for 14 years and we enjoyed each others company very much. He passed away in 2014, so I inherited the home.

It's a great home with a great view of the river off the covered back deck.

My wife and I really enjoy meeting people so we rent the home as a nice vacation spot.

Steve Bedgood purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Steve Bedgood chose Western Michigan

We always wanted a place on the river. We really liked this place because of its seclusion. We camped out here for 3 summers. We liked it so much we decided to build here.

Later, I put Dad's Cabin in out here mainly because it gave me a chance to have my dad as my neighbor. We've hunted and fished, shot targets and Trap as well as just enjoyed shooting the breeze out on his deck overlooking the river. (It's my favorite spot on the property.)

Many couples have already spent time out here for some romantic time alone. Some couples have come here to fish too.

Whether with their families, or by themselves. People can come here to rest. That's one of the reasons I like giving a discount for couples who stay 3 nights or more, it gives them time to relax for a little more than just a day. They leave here ready to handle what comes next a bit better for having taken the time to clear their heads and have some fun.

What makes this cabin unique

In addition to the seclusion out here, the cabin's covered back porch is my favorite place to be in the summer. It always seems to be the right temperature and seems to have just the right breeze off the water.

We provide the coffee so you can have a fresh morning cup and go sit and look out at the river.

You can fish, rent a Canoe, Kayak or Tube close by or just sit on the deck and watch others float by.

Very relaxing and a beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

Our entire family stayed with us at Dad's Cabin and we hope to return! Steve was very welcoming and friendly and as has been mentioned in other reviews, they brought a large plate of homemade cookies by during our stay. I think they lasted all of 10 minutes once we returned home. :)

The cabin is in a beautiful location, and to sit out on the deck over looking the river is very peaceful! It is not far from whatever you may want to do. We were able to go to Grand Haven for a day at the beach, and drive a short 35-minute drive back to a peaceful off the beaten track home that did not break the bank to stay there! On our next visit, we will be making time to canoe down the river. It looked like loads of fun as we watched other go by.

My family has already decided that we would like to make it an annual trip.

Owner's Response: We are always pleased when our guests are able to have their plans work out. Whether it's fishing, floating, meeting up with friends or family, or just coming up to relax, if we can be a part of helping it come together, we've succeeded. When you come, let us know your interests and we'll see if we can locate things in advance for you. This particular couple had their family come spend time with them. We are grateful they chose is and happy for them that all went well.

Our stay at Dad's Cabin this weekend was perfect. The location is gorgeous! The accommodations are perfect for a family on a budget. Steve, the host and owner, is a great guy. Be prepared to disconnect.

Great time

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin. Steve was very helpful. We spent 90% of our time on the riverbank fishing which was amazing. My only suggestion is to build a wooden box for trash cans to sit in. We had a bungee on it and the racoons still tipped the can and got into the trash. Thank you to Steve and your wife for allowing us to enjoy your cabin.

Steve was more than welcoming. At one point, he brought us over some cookies his wife had made. He consistently asked us if we were having a good time and enjoying ourselves. I wouldn't think twice about returning there. I might do so with my family.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your kind review. Our goal at Dads Cabin is to do our part, and help where we can, to ensure our guests get what they are paying for. That's usually some time alone with people who mean a lot to them. Most people won't remember the building. They will remember how they were treated and the great times they shared with their family and friends. (At least that's my philosophy.) Thanks again, Steve and Rosalie

A remote, peaceful get-away

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed three nights in "Dad's Cottage ". Even though we were close to the city and the lake, it felt like we were somewhere up north.

The cabin was neat and clean and contained everything we needed for our stay.

Thanks fir hosting us Steve and Rosalee!
