|Minimum Stay||5 nights|
Our house, Casa de la Luz, is a charming and spacious Spanish colonial-style home that sits on a hill overlooking the historic town of San Miguel de Allende (a UNESCO World Heritage Site voted Best City in the World by Conde Nast Traveler in 2013 and Best City in Mexico, Central & South America by Travel & Leisure Magazine in 2016). The house, which has been recently renovated, is light and airy with cathedral ceilings and has an open, expansive layout. The main floor of the house includes an eat-in kitchen, living room, dining room and half bathroom. The kitchen leads out to a new deck perfect for outdoor meals, as well as onto a new rooftop terrace - both of which offer spectacular sunsets every night. The downstairs has three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, as well as the TV room and laundry room. This floor leads out to a covered outdoor seating area and garden. The top floor (just a few steps up from the main floor) holds a fourth en-suite bedroom. Amenities include a washing machine & dryer, monitored alarm system, high speed wireless Internet, flat screen TV, water filtration system for the entire house, ping pong table, and 3x/weekly housekeeping and gardening service. Our home is a 10-minute walk downhill to all of the action in the center of town.

Kim's house is absolutely stunning. The house is spotless and the owner is welcoming and thoughtful. She even offered to take me to the supermarket to get food for the 5 days we were there. The views from the balconies (there is one from the living room and another on the roof top) were beautiful. My teenagers and I came here over the Christmas holiday to get Spanish lessons and cultural immersion but we got much more than that. There are two bedrooms (one with very comfy king size bed and private bath and another with two twin beds that can be put together as king on the bottom floor with two huge gardens and a living room. There is also another study area w a futon bed and a nice desk. There is another private maids quarter that was not part of the rental in the front garden. Ping pong table was nice in the back garden but we didn't get to play. We considered playing soccer in the back yard but we didn't bring a soccer ball. The kitchen is stocked with all kinds of things. I'm kinda of a foodie chef wanna be so I was in heaven w all he cookware and spices. The town center is about 15 minute walk down hills in a very safe neighborhood. Or you can Uber w wifi at home and from the airport as well... I hope the Mexican government doesn't shut it down. It is a much quieter neighborhood then the town center and you have much more space and the view is incomparable. There's a house keeper who cleans daily and a Gardner. The tap water is purified and safe but the owners have bottled water too. The house alarm and two metal locked doors gives you a sense of security at night. We are Texans so the space heaters and heated blankets were nice at night but most Americans probably don't need it. The gas fireplaces are tricky to use so make sure you get directions and be very careful. Another perk were the guitar, ukulele and electric piano that we got to play and enjoy at night. Kim was so nice to let us play with them. About the town, there are just too many things to do and markets and galleries to explore. If you never tried fresh corn tortillas, you must goto a "totilleria". Many fancy Italian, Argentinian, Peruvian french restaurants to try but we tried to stick to central Mexican food. We will definitely come back again and next time with more time to spend in and out of this gorgeous house on the hill. Thank you Kim for letting us stay at your beautiful home. (Of note, the wifi was excellent all around the house. TV and books around)
The house was very clean and spacious. It has a lot of nooks and cozy rooms. It´s the ideal house for a small family or friends who wish to have their own privacy. The kitchen is ample, the bathrooms are fully functional and there are fireplaces in multiple rooms.
We really enjoyed our stay here, the location was perfect. Will def. try to book here again.
We were 3 adults and 4 boys and had a wonderful stay. The place is a lot roomier and charming than what appears in the photos. We put the kids in a room which was sufficiently detached from the rest of the house so that they would not bother us nor we them. The house comes with great internet and cable TV, a very well equipped kitchen, linens, and towels, space heaters and fireplaces. Basics like oil, salt and peeper are details often missing in rentals and we were happy to use them, also a grill and charcoal. Fantastic view of SMA and walking distance to the center, finally parking with electric doors made life easy and added to peace of mind. Couldn't have been better.

We are just finishing up a one-month stay at Casa de la Luz and concur that we have never been in a more idyllic setting for work, play, relaxation, and inspiration. This is a home created and shared with love. Overlooking the Tuscan-esque town of San Miguel de Allende and the Sierra, each room is full of light, heavenly breezes, and inspirational views. We have been here both with guests and alone: the house lends itself beautifully to both. The rooms are comfortably and amply furnished, the kitchen is full of top-notch appliances, and the housekeeping twice a week has been unobtrusively professional. With reliable internet service here we have been able to carry on our normal work while feeling like we've landed in heaven!
The owner, Kim, could not be more gracious and accommodating to our every request.
