Dear Traveler,

Due to the terrible wild fires in Sonoma we made the house available for fire victims. We are taking reservations again, starting for stays from February 2018 on. Our neighborhood was very lucky- the fires came close. There was loss, but overall the integrity of the Wine Country stayed intact - the wineries are waiting for you. Please come and visit us soon!

A Getaway that is still easily reached within an hour from the Golden Gate! Located in a quiet neighborhood in Glen Ellen, just a few miles north of Sonoma Square. Glen Ellen sits right in the heart of the wine country- Sonoma, Napa, Healdsburg, Yountville are all within reach. This area has a lot to offer: great vineyards, excellent food and beautiful scenery.

About Kerstin & David Dieterich

Our family lives in the Bay Area, where David grew up. Our daughter lives in Europe and our son is studying at UH Manoa in Hawaii. Since Kerstin is from Germany, we have been lucky to explore Europe. We enjoy the outdoors and learning about different cultures. It is exciting to visit new places. For a quick escape we love to come up to the Wine Country and enjoy Glen Ellen. Hope you will enjoy it too!

Why Kerstin & David Dieterich chose Glen Ellen

We love Sonoma! In fact we got married here 29 years ago. Glen Ellen is centrally located in the Wine Country: Sonoma, Napa, Healdsburg, Russian River are all within an easy reach. This quiet little town is only about 6 miles north of Sonoma Square.

It takes only an hour from the Golden Gate to get here.

There are so many activities- you can enjoy wine tasting, eat at some of the best restaurants, hike, bike, play golf, enjoy a day at the Sonoma Inn or the Kenwood Spa. Shopping is always fun around the square in Sonoma..and of course you can just kick up your feet in our beautiful shaded garden with a good book and a glass of local wine!

What makes this cottage unique

This little house is cozy and comfortable with a beautiful garden. We recently renovated and refurbished it completely. All the furnishings are new and of good quality. Everything is there for your comfort and convenience:

Two well appointed bed rooms with queen beds and luxury cotton linens, fresh robes and slippers are waiting.

The sofa in the living room is a queen sleeper.

A fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, microwave, blender, coffee maker, wine opener(very important!) and even a picnic basket. We do supply coffee for you.

Dining room seats four.

There is a gas fireplace for warmth and ambiance. We do have central heating and air conditioning, plus fans in each room.

TV, Cable, DVD player and wireless internet are available to you.

The spacious private garden offers a brand new deck with a hot tub and a private outdoor shower, comfortable lounge furniture, a fire pit and BBQ. You can dine alfresco on the big farm table. There are big shade trees and even a little veggie and herb garden for you to enjoy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a lovely stay at this beautifully decorated home. It's in an ideal and quiet location. The yard is wonderful with the hot tub, outdoor shower, and bbq area which we enjoyed using. The kitchen is well equipped and the rooms are very comfortable.

Lovely house

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for letting us stay at your house. It was lovely. The decor was very relaxing feeling. There was everything we could need at the house. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower after using the hot tub. We also appreciated the garden. We picked some fresh basil and tomatoes for our salad one evening. The house was very inviting from the the moment we arrived until the moment we left. We really didn't want to leave. This house is great.

Great place to relax

  • 5 of 5

I loved staying here. The house was super cute and the backyard was peaceful. The location is easy to get to so many great Sonoma vineyards. The house itself was clean and cozy. I'd love to come back!

In Sonoma for son's wedding

  • 5 of 5

We chose Glen Ellen because it was between Sonoma and the wedding site. Couldn't have made a better choice. The house is lovely and I got to pick tomatoes in the backyard! We were very busy so we had no chance to relax in the hot tub or on the hammock )-: Everything was clean and neat.

There's lots to do in Glen Elen: the Jack London Museum and Park; the Quarry Hill Botanical Garden; many wineries including the Benzinger Winery, which uses biodynamic farming methods; and for a nice walk near the house, the Sonoma Valley Regional Park.

Cuteness and Serenity Abounding

  • 5 of 5

DO NOT STAY HERE if you don't like tranquility, birds greeting you with song, privacy and comfort.

Honestly, I brought stuff on the trip I didn't think would be provided: citronella candles to ward off mosquitoes (they love me and made a trip to New Orleans uncomfortable), tealights (I love a nice ambiance); plus, we were welcomed with a bottle of wine.

Someone wrote in his review that the beds were uncomfortable, but we slept so deeply here --- I guess we were quite relaxed.

The AC is definitely a plus on days like we had during our stay. The neighborhood is quiet and charming (someone put up an impromptu take-a-book-leave-a-book library across the street which my sister ravished between watching a Deadliest Catch marathon on Discovery). Also, the cable TV offered some free movies and different genres of music.

We booked the house to visit a few days with family who lives in Santa Rosa, and we were elated we picked this endearing abode. Each day we saw another sweet, little trinket or decor we did not see the previous day. There are little notes everywhere with instructions about how to make your trip better or some house rules, so the neighbors are not encroached upon. I never saw a neighbor while I was in the backyard. I heard some chickens that live over the fence, but their clucks were not intrusive.

I could go on and on, but instead, I will just say book with confidence.
