Yacht House has it all! It is a great house for family reunions, group outings, girls weekend getaways, and a great place to stay for the gentleman's fishing retreat. Relax in the comfort of this historic century-old home located in the heart of Beaufort, North Carolina's 3rd oldest town that was voted "America's Coolest Small Town" in 2012 and 2013 as well as "Best Yachting Town" in 2012. Yacht House is fully renovated and tastefully decorated with sunlight streaming into each room. The architectural charms and beauty of old Beaufort have been preserved while providing the conveniences and comforts of modern living. We are proud that Yacht House now has an official historical plaque. The house was built by Alfred B Hooper in 1913 and completed in 1914. He was the lighthouse keeper at Cape Lookout Lighthouse from 1903 to 1909 and then of the Ocracoke Lighthouse from 1910 to 1912. Alfred Hooper passed away of typhoid fever in 1914 before the house was completed. His son Frederick Hooper took over completion of the house. In keeping with the yachting and fishing character of Beaufort, sailors and history buffs may appreciate that rooms in Yacht House are named for famous yachts of the past. Others will appreciate that Beaufort is a walking, biking, dog-friendly town with miles of picturesque sidewalks on flat streets, all complimented by the charm of this historic village. Beach lovers and fishermen will enjoy the 10 minute drive to one of Atlantic Ocean's prettiest beaches.

Yacht House

  • 5 of 5

Great house and very convenient location to downtown Beaufort and it’s amenities. Parked the car upon arrival and did not get back in until we finished our stay. Met or exceeded all of our expectations. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Beautiful House/Great Location

  • 5 of 5

The house is absolutely gorgeous. All of the modern upgrades in addition to many of the details that make it feel like an 100+ year old house. It is literally 2 short blocks from Front Street, where everything happens. We didn't have to drive to go do anything in Beaufort. It was dumb luck that we picked the house this close to everything we were going to do, but it worked out well.

Amazing house, very clean (spotless), great for our family gathering for the week.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house! We had 5 adults, one baby girl who turned 1 year old in July and 3 small dogs. Location means everything and we could walk down to the piers and all the little shops and restaurants. The street the house is located on is very quiet and peaceful. Our children were able to "go out on a date" while grandparents got to enjoy our granddaughter for the night. This home is wonderfully maintained, and very clean. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and cooking nightly on the gas grill. 3 of the bedrooms upstairs had their own bathroom, and the 4th bedroom used the hall bath. It was great to have so many TVs available so the men could watch their sports in the den and we ladies could watch our TV shows in the living room. 2 of the bedrooms also had TVs. This home is a gem.
