The cottage is part of a complex of buildings which once made up the historic Martha’s Vineyard COOP Dairy. This sunny three bedroom once served as it's carriage house. The Martha’s Vineyard COOP Dairy was an operating dairy and milk bottling facility until the mid 1960's. During its hay-day, all the island’s farmers brought their milk to be processed and bottled here. The owners unit was the Dairy’s barn and is adjacent to the carriage house.
We are year round residents and would be glad to help out with some tips to make your stay a memorable one.
Have a great summer!
Mike and Sandy
HERE'S A FEW FUN THINGS GOIN' ON NEARBY
BIKING - Great location as a base camp for biking the island. Bring your own bike or easily rent one, bike rental shop is just a 10 minute walk toward town, they also will deliver.
FISHING - Just a 1/2 mile away the bend in the road beach offers some of the best surfcasting on the Vineyard, head another 1/2 mile down the road and drop a line off big bridge, great spot for Stripers and Blues.
CLAMMING - Just a ten minute walk is Sengekontacket pond by far one of the very best clamming spots on the Island.
CRABBING - 5 minute walk toward the beach is a colvert where the salt pond rushes under the road. Great spot for catching delicious blue crabs.
KITE SURFING - Well known for its great windsurfing, Sengekontacket pond is also quickly becoming known as one of the best places in the east coast for kite surfing. Vineyard native, Rob Douglas, earned the title of fastest kite sailor in the world & can be regularly found rippin' it up on Sengekontacket pond.
KAYAKING - On the far side of the State Beach, 10 min by bike, Kayaks can be rented by Island Spirit Kayak. They also offer great day and sunset tours island wide.
BRIDGE JUMPING - One mile down the road, nothing like Jumping off State Beach's big bridge! You'll regularly find kids and adults alike enjoying the 10' plunge into the cool waters of the Vineyard Sound on a hot summer day.
Nothing like the Caribbean, but the waters here are typically, surprisingly clear. Floating around the rock jetties of either of the two bridges along State Beach you can ride the current in or out of Sengekontacket pond. Small fish, conch, starfish, crabs and the occasional Stripped Bass are your quarry. The free ride in the current is worth the effort. After 15 years living here this is still one of my favorites on a hot day!

My wife, Sandy and I have been year round residents of Martha's Vineyard for the past 15 years. We moved to the Island from NYC in 1994 and are raising our two kids, Sam 7 and Charlotte 15 on the Island.
Mike purchased this cottage in 1994
We love the Island and feel lucky to live in such beautiful place!
The location is incredibly convenient to the beach and both Edgartown and Oak Bluffs.
Great location, my wife, son and I had a blast here. 2 Minute bike ride to the beach, 15 minute bike ride to Edgartown. Cozy little hideaway..
It was quiet, affordable, and within walking distance to stuff. It was too cool for us to enjoy the outside much but had a great private yard with a grill, lots of seating, a fire pit, and lighting. Owners were very responsive and nice. Would highly recommend this as a great cottage stay.
This is a really cute, convenient place and we had a great time. The beach is so close, the bike pathway across the street was great for walking my puppy and it was a short walk to the 'triangle' for coffee etc. Being fenced/hedged in it feels very private and safe and quiet. Mike was very helpful with any questions I had. Yes, it's got some wear, but I understand the owners are working on some updates which I'm sure will be great. Thinking of booking for next year for sure!
This rental was in a decent location and is close to State Beach, however it's a good 25-30 minute walk to downtown Edgartown. The property is pretty tired. While the essential things like the bathroom and kitchen were clean when we arrived, overall the property wasn't in the best condition. Cobwebs in the corners, old food in the drawer of the stove, stains on the floor, musty smell, chips in the tile, and very dirty fans and A/C units (although when we asked the owner to clean the A/Cs he was very responsive). The outside furniture was stained, the table was wobbly, and the yard was not inviting to sit in. This property is simply about the location, don't expect any other frills.
A simple cottage - but perfectly located and with a sweet, private backyard. We really enjoyed our stay.
This house is in a great location. Just a minute car ride to the beach. Right across from the bike path, so perfect for running, walking and biking. Especially good for families with children, or anyone really. Mike was very quick to respond, to any and all questions we had.
