Our stay at Algonquin Cottage was one of the best vacation getaways we've had. Algonquin is a sweet lake, and the cottage is perfectly situated for relaxing access to the water. We paddled our canoes and rowed our dory on the lake every day. (The boat launch next door is convenient if you trailer a boat, and you can launch canoes and kayaks from the lawn -- or use one of the owners'!) The house itself is comfortable and quiet. The screen porch is enchanting with views of the lake -- we watched ducks, geese, a beaver, and a soaring eagle. Kitchen is well equipped, gas grill works great. Maura is a wonderful host -- very helpful and responsive. We will certainly be coming back to this one!
Cozy and Welcoming
The cottage was clean and cozy and very homey. The lake was beautiful and so nice to wake up to each morning. The hiking nearby was great, and sitting around the fire pit in the backyard was amazing. We stayed here the first week of May, so the weather was a bit of a bummer (chilly and very overcast and rainy) but the Family Camp delivered anyway. I can’t imagine how wonderful it must be with perfect weather in the summer!
The VRBO rental experience was seamless and easy. We will definitely be back in the future...what a wonderful little vacation!
quiet, well kept cabin in beautiful setting. attentive, helpful owner
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here for a long weekend. Good house layout, comfortable, location on Lake Algonquin provides easy access to local trails (owner's information gives helpful directions to trailheads). Love the bay window overlooking the lake! Two thumbs up!
This is a very comfortable house in a quiet, small town. There are beautiful surroundings in which we hiked and kayaked. The house has everything we needed.
Great vacation on the lake
Overall, the cottage worked out great for the four of us. The weather could have been better, but the house offered many relaxing features, even in the rain, like a wonderful screened in porch overlooking the lake.(our favorite spot for morning coffee, meals and late night games.) We used the kayaks and paddle board, which were great fun! We hiked for two of the days, the closer hike was in the woods with no views. Hiked along Fawn Lake up by Speculator which was pretty. 1 hour to Lake George - easy drive. Could not find aluminum foil in the house, which was the only missing necessity besides no dishwasher. Grill and fire pit were great, firewood was provided, and beds were comfy. Recycling is confusing and a hassle. I also don't understand why we need to pay an extra $10 per person over 2/ per night - first time I ever encountered this charge. Owner was very responsive. Overall, a great time, and we would come back.
Family friendly cabin, kayaks, SUP, water trampoline, fire pit for s'mores- just perfect!
Quiet lakefront location, rustic cabin with screen porch with great views, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, everything we needed for a weekend getaway with our grandchildren and family.
