A 2 bedroom, one bath beach cottage located 15 miles north of Menominee Mi perfect for the family of 4-6 or 2-3 couples year round. 100 feet of private sand beach with beautiful sunrises and views of Door County. The cottage is semi-secluded surrounded by evergreens with the owner’s vacation home to the south and a modern vacation home to the north. 700 feet off the state highway on a deep lot.
The cottage was remodeled in late 2011 and additional renovations in 2017, including a screen porch. The house comes equipped for a relaxing vacation with the amenities today’s busy families expect. Also equipped with appliances and a complete kitchen for preparing great meals. 40” flat screen with satellite TV/DVD and game connectivity. Wireless Internet to stay connected or check in at the office. Air conditioner if it gets too hot. 2 bedrooms include one queen pillow-top bed and a double 'full over full' bunk bed in the second bedroom. A queen sized sleeper-sofa is located in the living room.
Lounge on the beach and watch the local bald eagle families cruise the shore, take a day trip to Door County or many Michigan’s UP sights, rent ATV’s locally and ride the local trails, hire a local charter fishing boat or just relax with a good book.
The cottage is close to thousands of acres of state land in Menominee County for whitetail deer hunting and hunting groups are welcomed. For fisherman, this can be an excellent home base to fish the waters of Green Bay with Little Bay De Noc to the north (35 miles) down the Green Bay shoreline and into the bay. Ample parking for boat trailers or RV's is available on site.

Greetings from Greg and Beth (Sandahl) Horvath! Thanks for your interest in our vacation home. We grew up in Menominee County and enjoy returning to the shores of Green Bay for relaxing times on the beach. We spend our time between our current vacation home, which is next door, and Milwaukee where Greg's office is located. In the summer, for the most part we call this home as we are avid boaters and keep one of our boats in Menominee Mi. We are both retiree's of a major Fortune 50 firm in downstate Michigan with Greg continuing his career as a management consultant with a Big 4 firm.
Beth Horvath purchased this cottage in 2011
We grew up in the area. Our rental property 'Sandahls On The Beach' is adjacent to our home. We chose this location for its proximity and seclusion and for its excellent natural beachfront.
This property has beautiful natural Lake Michigan beachfront with clean sand and shallow sandbars for children to play. There are beautiful views of the sun rising over Door County and some equally stunning moon rises during the summer months. The cottage is semi-secluded with a deep lot off the highway surrounded by vacation homes providing very private beachfront experience. Several bald eagle families regularly cruise the shoreline.
We continue to update and remodel the beach house. In 2017, we added a screen porch to provide shade and shelter from the sun or rain. Satellite internet connectivity allows guest to stay connected if they choose. We frequently travel the UP during ATV trips using cottage rentals. We wanted our rental to feature new, fresh, quality amenities with as many comforts of home as we could provide.
Families will enjoy the quality beach, satellite TV and internet connectivity.
Sportsmen will value being centrally located to hunt and fish in Menominee County. Couples will enjoy the privacy and seclusion.
This is a great vacation home on a very nice section of gorgeous sandy swimming beach. My wife and children stayed here in the summer of 2015. We had a wonderful time. The owners were readily accessible and attentive to any concerns. We encountered a relatively minor hiccup during our stay. Owners Greg and Beth went over and above the call of duty to see that we were fully satisfied due to the inconvenience.
As a former Yooper and one having experience with a number of properties between Escanaba and Menominee, I'd point out to other vacationers that lakefront & beach conditions along this stretch of highway M-35 will vary dramatically. Along this roughly 50 mile stretch of shoreline, you will encounter sugar-sand swimming beaches, marshy bogs, tall thick grass, rocky shoreline, small bluffs, and everything in between. While the scenery at any of the above is usually beautiful, the beach experience can be downright dreadful. This is NOT the case here. The sandy beach, gradually sloping down, just steps from the cottage is wonderful!
Each day we enjoyed bonfires on the beach after sun-drenched days of swimming & playing with our children in the sand!
This is a lovely little beach house. Nice view. Just steps to a very short path to your own Lake Michigan beach. Up-to-date interior, well-furnished kitchen, deck, outdoors chairs provided. The closest store is a Shell station about 8 mi. away. To go further into a small town to a grocery store is at least 11 mi. We initially stopped in Menominee on the way up to load up on groceries. One reviewer commented on the drinking water. If I remember correctly, that taste is due to iron in the water...it reminded me of many camping trips as a kid. If you don't care for it, do pick up a couple of gallons at the store for drinking purposes. Wonderful place!
We really enjoyed ourselves. The cottage is nice, well equipped, and well cared for. We'd absolutely stay here again.
We stayed in early August at the beachfront cottage so that we could be conveniently located to visit lighthouses in Escanaba, Menominee, and in Door County. We practically had the beach to ourselves...except for the frogs, geese, and seagulls that call the area home. On one afternoon we were fortunate enough to see two eagles take flight! We could hear a loon call out but, unfortunately, we never saw it. This is a well-equipped place and the owners Greg and Beth are very nice and accommodating. One drawback is the hard water/scent. (We bought our own bottled water for coffee making purposes.) Overall, we enjoyed the peace and quiet, the moon rising over the bay, and the Milky Way at night. We definitely recommend the place!
We enjoyed this property immensely on a four-day trip for a family reunion. The cottage was impeccably clean, had very comfortable furniture & cute décor. The kitchen is particularly well stocked with appliance & cooking utensils. Comfy queen bed (high-rise) in one bedroom, and in the 2nd room were bunk beds that each had a full size mattress. Beds were comfortable. The owners were very responsive (internet router which resides in a different building needed to be reset a couple of times). We had no problems with the stay. If you're going during the relevant seasons, make sure you bring lots of bug spray. This year there was a apparently a larger than normal crop of mosquitoes. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Greg & Beth, for sharing your home!
We wanted to escape and enjoy the fall colors...what a great place to do just that! Far enough from the city that you feel you've made your escape, but not too far of a drive to town to enjoy restaurants, shopping, a movie, etc. In addition to that it seems there is plenty to do in the area. If you like the water, it looks like a great place to enjoy boating of any kind, and there are boat launches & marinas nearby. We also saw ATV & snowmobile trails, and though we don't hunt I imagine there are some great places to do so. The wildlife is everywhere! We also took a trip to the very picturesque Door County peninsula for a wine tasting adventure and a fish boil which is a local tradition. In addition to the wineries, there are many quaint harbor towns loaded with little shops and places to eat. It was the highlight of our trip, we highly recommend it!
The cottage itself was immaculate, nicely updated, and furnished with everything we needed. Just add food and drink and you're all set. The owners are very helpful and accommodating. There's a nice beach with a fire pit, plus the cottage has a huge deck, and both are perfect spots to enjoy the amazing sunrises over Lake Michigan and the stars at night! We WILL be back!!!
