Staying at "The Li'l Blue House" is like a living in a summer cottage but with the amenities of a small capital city. The neighbourhood is quiet and friendly. You can enjoy your morning coffee on our lovely deck in dappled sunlight through grapevines.
If you'd like to enjoy the countryside, it's a short drive to many beautiful beaches, parks, and farmland. We'd be happy to show you the best spots!
Graeme and I (Nancy) share a love of quiet little nooks and unique spaces--that's why we enjoy the Li'l Blue House, as well as our little sea-side cottage in the summer and a real off-the-grid back-woods cabin in maple-sugar season. We are both musicians--Graeme teaches guitar professionally and performs from time to time in various blues bands and I perform Celtic flute whenever I can find the time. We love to cook (hence the new tile kitchen island!) and love our two cats (they will be with us at the cottage, so you won't actually meet them). We would be happy to chat about what you'd like to see and do while you're on the Island!
Nancy & Graeme purchased this house in 2010
I chose this house because of the location, because it is 'pint-sized' yet feels open and airy; I loved the modern open-concept downstairs and cottage-like upstairs. I like the backyard which is canopied by neighbouring trees giving it privacy, yet it still has sunny areas (including the deck).
The L'il Blue House was home to my husband and I and our teenager daughter for two weeks this past summer. It was exactly what we were looking for: a home base to return to each day after long days at the beach, sightseeing, or visiting with extended family. In the evenings, we left the car behind at the house and walked a few minutes to the centre of downtown for a meal, a drink, some entertainment, or just to have a look around.
Nancy and Graeme were gracious and considerate hosts. We had a good supply of clean towels and bedding for the duration of our stay. The house was clean, comfortable, and pleasant. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils, and we enjoyed cooking and eating there. The upstairs balcony was our teenage daughter's favourite spot!
Thank you, Nancy and Graeme, for a delightful two-week stay. All the best!
Lovely house close to downtown Charlottetown. We met Nancy who was able to show us the house and offer suggestions for restaurants, etc. She was readily available for questions, etc.
It was obvious upon our arrival that we were going to love our stay at the Lil Blue House. Not only did the house look as we expected from the outside, based on the VRBO pictures, but since we had already been in Charlottetown for a week, we knew the location was excellent - something we didn't know when we booked. It is not right downtown - that was our first week - but a 5 minute walk south had us at the Confederation Centre, 5 minutes east we were at Victoria Park and the boardwalk and all around us were the amenities we needed (including bicycle rentals at McQueens).
Nancy had been super helpful during the planning of our trip, and so we were looking forward to meeting her. She met us at the house, gave us a tour and went over the particulars. Walking into the house we felt as if we were walking into a well loved cottage - an old piano, wood burning stove, pots and pans hanging in the kitchen, stairs leading to a second floor with a great deck, a couple rooms and bathroom. There were plenty of towels, including beach towels which were most appreciated as we went to two beaches. The bed was super comfortable, with plenty of pillows. We really appreciated that the kitchen was fully stocked with all the utensils and gadgets necessary for great home meals, including herbs and tomatoes in the garden. There was even a pot big enough for the lobster dinner we cooked one night! Our daughter recently moved to Charlottetown (thus the motivation for our visit), and she loved coming by to play the piano every night.
We will definitely stay at the Lil Blue House on our next visit and highly recommend this home for rent, when available. Thanks Nancy!!
Very good location and a comfortable funky little house. A 7 minute walk to downtown and minutes from restaurants and services like laundry and banks. A good shower and a fully equipped kitchen. The hosts were helpful and made our trip enjoyable.
The "Little Blue House" was perfect for us. It is located a few blocks from Historic Charlottetown. It is clean, safe, and well-appointed. Although it looks small from the outside, it is surprisingly spacious. The balcony was a wonderful spot for morning coffee and afternoon wine. Enjoy!!
Simply outstanding. The house was cute, clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for our stay. Walking distance to restaurants, gift shops and all the tourist attractions in Charlottetown. Sobey’s was close by for our groceries, too! Quiet neighbourhood. Off street parking. Great private outdoor deck. Open concept. Bright. It just felt good being there, like being at home really.
I would recommend this home away from home to all my friends. Nancy and Graeme were friendly and helpful. Thanks so much you guys!!

You will be only a few minutes' walk from all downtown attractions, yet located on a quiet residential street with a shaded lush backyard and a sunny deck to relax on--your own little oasis in the city! Walk or drive to any of these restaurants: Himalayan Indian Cuisine, Seoul Food Korean restaurant, Redwater, Leonard's Café, Piatto, the Old Triangle Irish pub, the Pilot House, Old World Pizzaria, award-winning Papa Joe's, the Maple Grille, and our fav, Terre Rouge; as well as Upstreet, a local craft brewery that just opened several blocks from here. As well, you can find lots of entertainment within an easy evening's walk: the Confederation Centre has live theatre and music on the mainstage (Homburg Theatre) or informal cabaret-style at "The Mack"; the repertory theatre, City Cinema, shows one to two films per night, the Old Triangle features free live music nightly and a real Irish traditional session on Sunday afternoons; the Factory has a Blues jam on Saturday afternoons; and Baba's Lounge, Back Alley Music, Hunter's Alehouse and other small pubs and bars have music of all genres. If you like strolling around the city, there are two community gardens nearby, and a walk along the Boardwalk of Victoria Park to get an icecream on is lovely on a summer day!
