The cabin was built on 15 acres of family land by the current owner and a few of his closest friends, each a jack of their own trade. The White Pine logs were picked, sawed and hand notched. All of the cabinets and exterior doors were handcrafted out of Walnut. Rocks for the foundation and fireplaces, which serve the living room and master bedroom, were gathered from the surrounding mountains. In addition, when built, the hardwood floors were pulled from the gymnasium of the high school in which the owner had attended some 18 years prior.

In addition, not only are we pet friendly, we encourage bringing your four legged companions along! A place to run in the country?! What more could any dog ask for? If you are like us, your vacation just would not be complete without the entire family present. Doggie Sheets are available so they can snuggle with you in the bed. Towels can be found in the 'Doggie Clean-up Station' on the front porch in case your companions get a little dirty while playing and exploring. Bags and waste cans are also provided for the inevitable bathroom breaks.

About Owner/ Manager

My father and I absolutely love our Mystic Valley and everything the country, as well as the city of Asheville, has to offer. And we want to share our amazing place with you!

My father was born here and has refused to leave this amazing area. However, I decided to explore other locations including New York City, Wilmington and Charlotte. After living elsewhere for 13 years, I decided it was time to head back home!

Dad is now retired and I am a Professional Behavior Responder for the ASPCA Field Investigations & Response Team.

Why Owner/ Manager chose Asheville Area

Mystic Valley offers the ideal combination of total seclusion and convenient access. Located in the beautiful historic community of Big Sandy Mush where the land has been farmed by the same families for generations, our ancestors included. In addition, the cabin is just a 30 minute jaunt to the lively downtown scene. A very short distance to travel to experience the boundless diversity of Asheville.

What makes this cabin unique

Guest Satisfaction Is Our #1 Priority! You can rest assured we are available 24/7 if any problems should arise or just to answer your questions.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We enjoyed our stay at Mystic Valley. The home was clean, cozy and rustic. Sitting on the porch was our favorite spot to enjoy God’s glory! Our time together brought us closer as a family!

Perfect location with great views!

  • 5 of 5

The location of this place is fantastic. Its far enough away to feel secluded but close enough to Asheville (30 min) that you can easily head into town for some quick shopping or dining. My wife and I stayed here with our two dogs as part of a week long hiking trip through the Pisgah National Forest and Smokey Mountains. There are numerous hiking trails within a 45 minute drive from here if hiking is your thing. The views from the font porch are fantastic and a great way to unwind at the end of a long day. The house itself is well appointed and equipped with everything you will need during your stay. The property is perfect for dogs with plenty of space for them to run around. While there is no fence to keep the dogs enclosed the natural grade surrounding the property (steep hill behind and in front) almost acts like a fence and worked well keeping our dogs in the general area. We cant wait to come back and visit again.

Amazing views

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a great weekend at the cabin. Joey and Cat were great hosts and accommodated all our needs. The cabin was very clean and well kept. The view off the front porch was amazing. Quick 30 minute drive to downtown Asheville. Look forward to staying again.

Beautiful Cabin in the Valley

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect. Quiet and peaceful tucked away in the valley. Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. Cat and Joey met us for check in and provided everything we needed. The cabin was clean and well supplied with linens, towels, and firewood for the beautiful stone fireplace. Cat even left a tennis ball for our dog, which I think ended up her favorite part of the weekend. The front porch had amazing views. I loved sitting out there in the morning with my coffee listening to the cows chat across the farms. The cabin is within 1/2 hour of Asheville and about an hour from the Blue Ridge Parkway which makes it perfect for day and nighttime activities. The roads are a bit steep coming in and out of the valley, which made for interesting driving for my husband and beautiful views for me. Thank you Cat and Joey for sharing this wonderful cabin with us.

The Area:

There’s so much to see and do! You don't even have to venture far from the cabin to have fun. For instance, Randall Glen Farm is located just a few miles up the road which boast 100 acres and offers horseback riding, gem mining and other activities. You will be in close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Appalachian Trail. Transylvania County, just an hour away, has 250 waterfalls within a few miles of each other. Finally, whether it be to soak your sore muscles, or just to relax, be sure to visit Hot Springs, located only 30 miles north of Mystic Valley. Here you will find Jacuzzi tubs supplied with a continuous flow of world famous natural hot mineral water.

Vibrant and quirky, charming and historic, Downtown Asheville is the place to shop, dine and enjoy the city's nightlife. The area is sprinkled with an eclectic mix of boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, farmers markets, shopping districts and historic buildings.
