Together with each other and enjoyed getting from home

  • 5 of 5

I like staying there I had to do a couple of things to fix for you some of the water tap handles a couple of them came off so I put them on and tighten them and checked all of the others. On the dryer I had to put the vent tube on it so that it was anchored correctly. Yes we really enjoyed being there and we enjoyed the weather it was in the lower seventies and no rain. We hit that week at the perfect time.

Very nice house but major problems with heat and hot water.

  • 2 of 5

This house was generally very nice. It was roomy, clean and well-equipped with kitchen items, books, games, etc. We were a bit surprised by the very small dishwasher. Renters should be aware of the 30+ stairs to the house and the various levels in the house.

Unfortunately, the good features were negated by a miserly hot water heater and a difficult-to-use programable thermostat for heat. This house supposedly accommodates 8 people, but has only a 30-gal hot water heater! After a hard day at Yosemite, only two people in our group were able to get showers before we ran out of hot water. It took all evening to get enough hot water for very short showers for the other four people in our group. My wife and I have a 50-gal water heater for just the two of us; it is unbelievable that a house rated for eight people would have only a 30-gal heater. We also encountered a problem with heat. When we arrived, we set the thermostat for the temperature we wanted. When we returned from Yosemite the next evening, the heat had kicked off due to a programmable thermostat. I eventually was able to reprogram the thermostat to keep the heat on, but it was difficult and the provided directions were very little help. It is ridiculous to have a programmable thermostat in a rental house! When paying the high rate charged for this house, renters have a right to be able to set the heat wherever they want it without having to program a thermostat. Even with a simple standard thermostat, the owner can easily keep the heat turned down when the house is empty.

I would have given this house a much higher rating were it not for these two major problems, but no way would I recommend this house unless these problems are properly addressed.

Owner's Response: Dear Richard, thank you for sharing your review about your recent stay at TreeHaven. I apologize that the house fell short of your expectations. Today I bought a simple standard thermostat and plan to get it installed tomorrow. I have talked to a contractor and he has a plumber who can install a larger water heater, which I plan to do when the plumber can fit me into his schedule. I have added the 36 stairs from the parking space to the front door to my property description. I appreciate you bring these problems to my attention.

The pictures don't do it justice.

This was a great place to stay if you are looking for a spot close to Yosemite Valley. It only takes about 30 minutes to drive into the valley and the route is gorgeous!! The house is accommodating to say the least. It is in a beautiful neighborhood and is comfortable for a large group. Lots of refrigerator and freezer space. 2 king beds and 2 queen beds + 2 large couches. Full kitchen (my favorite part). And even though there are neighbors you still feel secluded. Book it!

Clean and convenient home near Yosemite Valley

  • 4 of 5

This home is located only 30 minutes from Yosemite Valley. Kicking off an early morning hike is a dream from this location - great for beating the crowds into the park! The home decor was older, but spotless. The grill, satellite TV (for watching the Olympics!) was great and the beds were very comfortable. Mary was a communicative and friendly host and the kitchen was outfitted with basic cooking tools. Thanks for a great stay!

Great location for Yosemite vacation

  • 5 of 5

This property is perfect for a family vacation. The rooms are large, including both bathrooms. The kitchen is very well stocked and conducive to cooking family meals.

When we arrived the house was very clean. The owner was very responsive when we had questions. As she indicates in her description of the property, the entrance to the house is up a flight of moderately steep steps which was not a problem for us.

The location is easy access to Glacier Point Road. I would recommend the property to families and groups of friends as it is spacious and the kitchen/eating area works well for a group.

Car: necessary

My vacation home is located inside Yosemite park eliminating the need to wait in line for re-entry. It is among the closest accommodations to the major attractions such as Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, Wawona Golf Course, the Mariposa Grove (which is closed for Restoration till July 2017) and various trail heads. I allow 30 minutes to get down to the Valley a little longer to get to the Golf Course, When I go to the Mariposa Grove I'll park my car at the Wawona store and take the shuttle bus.

I would advise anyone staying in Yosemite West and preparing their own meals, to do their grocery shopping before they enter the park. There are grocery stores in the Valley and at the Wawona store but most of the prices are higher.

Then there are restaurants, from the dining room at the Ahwahnee to the pizza deck in Curry Village

IF at all possible I would recommend one stays at least a week because there is so much to do. In the Valley I would recommend parking your car in the Day Use Parking then taking the free shuttle bus around.

A popular place is the Ahwahnee, a 4 diamond hotel which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Dinning used to require a jacket for men but has eased up on that tradition and now collard shirts for men and woman may wear dress or slacks and blouse. Historic Ahwahnee Tours are also available.

The visitor center is a must stop. The staff is always helpful with how to plan your stay in Yosemite. They can also tell you about the ranger's program and Interpretive walks

There's a bookstore and museum near by.

There's the Ansel Adams Gallery which offers photography workshops and a camera walk (class size & availability are limited).

You are in Bear country which means food may only be inside your car (out of sight, widows completely closed) during daylight hours. Remember to clear your car of food wrappers, crumbs in baby seats, and baby wipes. Even canned food and drinks must be removed from your car.
