Great location and all we needed!

  • 4 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay! House had all of the amenities that we need and Mary was easily accessible when I had questions upon arrival. Location was great allowing us to easily get to multiple destinations. Once we knew how to cool house down in the heat wave it was pleasant in the evenings. Would stay here again in heartbeat when we return to Yosemite.

So convenient to Yosemite hikes and sites!

  • 4 of 5

Well stocked kitchen, grateful for the provided fans for our summer stay. Owner was great to work with and responsive to a minor breakage issue on arrival. LOVED the helpful binder with park info, hiking trail tips and detailed directions to popular sites and hikes...especially since they're not kidding around about cell service in the park being practically nonexistent! Would stay here again!

The location was perfect, it was easy to access the park. The home is spacious, and has many beds to comfortably sleep our group of 6. The kitchen was fully loaded, with more than enough supplies for preparing dinner. The only thing that was difficult was that it was quite hot during June, and there were many insects at night, so it was difficult to keep cool. For the price though, it didn't bother me too much. Owner was easily accessible, and that helped a lot too! Thank you so much for the great stay!

Location is Amazing!

  • 4 of 5

Yosemite West is a great location. 30 minute drive to Glacier Point or the Valley. The kitchen was well equipped. Ample beds for family of 6. The house has some repair issues and is dated. The shower doors were almost immovable, rodent evidence, and second bath sink knob was not working. We like to watch movies as a family and this was challenging as the room with the tv only had a futon, pool table, and dining room chairs. The owner was responsive and easy to work with.

Owner's Response: I am glad you liked the location. You came the week my handyman was out of town. I am sorry the repairs were not able to be made while you were there. He has been able to repair the second bathroom sink knob. He is still looking for parts to repair the shower doors - it does move more easily now. The cleaners tell me the rodent problem has been resolved.

Merced River in Yosemite Valley
Car: necessary

My vacation home is located inside Yosemite park eliminating the need to wait in line for re-entry. It is among the closest accommodations to the major attractions such as Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, Wawona Golf Course, the Mariposa Grove (which is closed for Restoration till July 2017) and various trail heads. I allow 30 minutes to get down to the Valley a little longer to get to the Golf Course, When I go to the Mariposa Grove I'll park my car at the Wawona store and take the shuttle bus.

I would advise anyone staying in Yosemite West and preparing their own meals, to do their grocery shopping before they enter the park. There are grocery stores in the Valley and at the Wawona store but most of the prices are higher.

Then there are restaurants, from the dining room at the Ahwahnee to the pizza deck in Curry Village

IF at all possible I would recommend one stays at least a week because there is so much to do. In the Valley I would recommend parking your car in the Day Use Parking then taking the free shuttle bus around.

A popular place is the Ahwahnee, a 4 diamond hotel which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Dinning used to require a jacket for men but has eased up on that tradition and now collard shirts for men and woman may wear dress or slacks and blouse. Historic Ahwahnee Tours are also available.

The visitor center is a must stop. The staff is always helpful with how to plan your stay in Yosemite. They can also tell you about the ranger's program and Interpretive walks

There's a bookstore and museum near by.

There's the Ansel Adams Gallery which offers photography workshops and a camera walk (class size & availability are limited).

You are in Bear country which means food may only be inside your car (out of sight, widows completely closed) during daylight hours. Remember to clear your car of food wrappers, crumbs in baby seats, and baby wipes. Even canned food and drinks must be removed from your car.
