The archectect, who designed and built this home in 1975, used the location and orientation of the building to maximize the dramatic effect one gets when they first enter the property. There are ocean views (often changing) from every room and window. There is a master bedroom with a Kingsize bed, a guest room with a full size bed. There is also a couch convertible, queen size as well as pull down futon in the living room by the fireplace. Lastly, there is also a futon in the breezeway, conveniently located between the outside door and the kitchen.
We have installed DirectvTV which has a satellite network. We have also probably collected nearly 150 VCR tapes and DVD's. Like most of our guests, that takes a"backseat"" to being at Indian Point with the scenery as well as the friendly and interested folks you meet when taking your 2 mile walk, or bike, around the peninsula's Loop Road. After all, you have all that stuff back home.
This property is somewhat challenging to get to and that is the point. It is very private.
I am a court-rostered mediator with a Law Degree who does property management as a licensed realtor on the side. I have also brokered a former dairy farm as well as regular residential real estate in southern Maine. I also enjoy doing furniture restoration and well as some remodeling.
My wife is a spinner of several wools as well as a skilled scrapbooking participant monthly at different venues. She is also a manager of fashion coordination and design for men's outwear at L.L.Bean.
Bruce at 207-926-8255, (c) 841-5141 or 207-371-2449 (ocean), Wanda is 2075522550 purchased this house in 1960
My mother, in late 1959, was swimming in Little River below the house and faintly saw the " FOR SALE" sign on the house. They had been looking for just the right property that would stimulate my father's watercolor and landscape artistry. This was it but unfortunately it was already "under contract" to 2 elderly spinsters from "away". The Congressman who owned it said, after much convincing, that he would entertain a backup offer. For reasons unknown, the spinsters dropped out at the last minute, lost their escrow, and so, the Montgomery clan moved in. My father lost no time in setting up his easel and mixing his colors.
Once you have experienced Indian Point from our vantage point, you will see why creative inspiration abounds everywhere.
Here, you have the ocean below, the woods and marked trails just behind the house and across the private road. Also, official horseshoe pits are in the yard as well as either volleyball, badminton or croquet setups.
You have a clay tennis court ( small fee to play, inquire within) nearby as well as moorings for your boat down at the end of the Indian Point peninsula. The biking is challenging, but rewarding. Lastly, you can rent either canoes or kayaks 4 miles from house. short drive. or bike.
Our family stay was with 3 couples. My husband and I and our two grown children and their spouses. The owner showed up on day 3 to drop something off. He did call to let us know he was coming and around what time. Not something we are use to with other rentals but come to find out this home is the only one in the area that is still owned by a Maine family. So I would expect a visit from him. I'm hoping to add some photo's to show you the rooms and property. Yes the furniture is old and the decor is very cluttered. But we had everything we needed. They are missing air conditioning but we brought 4 fans so that helped. It was very hot and no air flow in the house. Also you will need to plan on a 20 min walk to get to the water. During July it is awful, with the mosquitos and green flies. OMG.. so bad. So be sure to spray yourself or you will get eaten up. They do allow dogs which was the selling point for us. The yard is big for them and the wrap around porch is amazing they loved it. Also the other selling point for us was the Hot Tub. It was wicked hot while we were there so we filled it with cold water from the hose that is provided and it was amazing. It is a 4 person hot tub but really better for 3 people. The views are like NO other day and night. They have a grill which we used every day. We did have to take a trip to the local WalMart to get a sun cover so we had a spot on the porch to get out of the sun though. They don't really offer much on the side of relaxing on the wrap around porch but a table with one umbrella. The home has not had any updates since the kids have grown up that we could tell. Except WiFii and TV. other then that no modern updates. Which are not needed except the porch does need shade and lounge chairs and if they could offer a second bathroom that would be amazing. There is a lot of down time because of the location, I bought about 10 adult coloring books with lots of markers, coloring pencils and crayons. Wow what a hit... my adult children and their spouses LOVED it and they spent many hours coloring. So fun. and what a great bonding time. There is a lot of down time here unless you are doing the walk to the beach so plan for that. We did love that we could watch the 2016 conventions and had Fox News. We vacation all over the USA so the only reason for me not giving them a 5 star really is only one bathroom, 20 min walk to water, no air conditioning, old living room furniture, no shade on porch at times.
We realy feel like on a cuise during our holidays at this place. The overlooking location on the sea is splendid. The home is comfortable and clean. We appreciate to get quickly to the sea for our daily walks on the beach. The owners are welcoming and accessible to help us. Very restful place.
No need to leave the deck or the beach down the way. My husband, 2 boys and I just love this charming, quiet area! Great amount of space, clean and comfortable! This will be a vacation spot of ours for years to come!
As frequent visitors to Mid Coast Maine, this home and location has everything that we love about the area and Indian Point in particular. There is the much anticipated sound and smell of the surf , easy access to Reid State Park beaches (just a few rock hops away), riding the Little River out at low tide, and exploring the Point and its beaches via the walking trails throughout. If you want to go out; there are easy trips to Freeport , Boothbay Harbor, Bath and Brunswick with great restaurants and shopping in every town. If you fish, great opportunities exist on Indian Point itself and nearby . The home is very well appointed and wonderfully decorated. The dishwasher, washer and dryer are a definite plus. Every room and deck has an incredible view of the ocean. Just grab your beverage of choice and watch the seals and porpoises a few feet off the rocks below, as well as the clear views of both the Cuckolds and Sequin Lighthouses. We spent many hours relaxing there while the kids played on the beach below. Then there is the hot tub! This hot tub has possibly the best view we have experienced anywhere. Thanks to the owners for making their beautiful home available. They were welcoming, comfortable to be around and eager to answer any questions.
Nearby is a fishing and lobstering village where all the boats are moored out in the harbor and where boiled lobster and clams are served on the pier close to the boats.
Back at the house, a lot of the attractions are right there inside and around the house.
